Jimmy will be starting game one of the playoffs but I could see him having a short leash if he struggles.

gdt 3/15 GDT : Red Wings 5 at Penguins 1
Datsyukian-Deke replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Anyone else get the idea that Pulkinnen's not going back down again. I think he is here to stay. Put Weiss on waivers and send him down. -
For whatever reason players play better in front of Mrazek. Howard is our best goalie but Mrazek gives us the best chance at winning and should be starting.
-
I'm pretty sure Mrazek has to stay up next year or be put on waivers to be put back down in GR so it absolutely is Gus' last year.

And all those people called me crazy when I said trade Jurco in the offseason for a number 1 defensman.

Ok who had money on Glendening playing on a line with Datsyuk this season. Lmao

Red Wings acquire Marek Zidlicky from NJ for Cond. 2016 3rd Round Pick
Datsyukian-Deke replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
People saying Zidlicky is small and can't play defense, he can play defense. But that's not really why he is here. He is here because he can make the first pass out of the defensive zone, knows how to quarterback a powerplay, and has a right-handed shot. Not all of our defensemen need to be shut down defensmen. Sure it's great to get a guy that can do both but those guys aren't available without giving up the farm. -
trade Red Wings acquire Erik Cole, conditional 3rd from Stars

The difference this year is not everyone is mad like they were last year with the Legwand deal. -
trade Red Wings acquire Erik Cole, conditional 3rd from Stars
Datsyukian-Deke replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Yea the 2nd rounder hurts a little but getting back a 3rd makes it alot better. Especially when Chicago had go give up a 1st for Vermette. We didn't give up our 1st or any of our top Forward or Defensive prospects to get a player that rounds out our top 6. Amazing deal. -

Here comes all the complainers of the trade. The same people who complain when Holland does nothing. We gave up 2 deeper prospects and a pick for a power forward and a pick. Sure the players we trade could come back to bite us but odds are they won't amount to anything rather than being superstars one day. We got a 18 goal scorer who will be killer in front of the net on the power play and what many were saying was the 2nd best forward available at the deadline. Great work Kenny! -
Once again blowing a lead and giving up 3 goals

This isnt the extremely veteran teams of old. With the infusion of young talent you have to roll with mental lapses from time to time. -
I figured we could have one place to post all of the signings and trades from around the league that didn't warrant their own thread. In the coming weeks there will likely be many. (Mods, delete if you think it's a bad idea) Today: Colorado resigned Jamie McGinn 2 years 5.9 million (2.9M, 3M) Detroit resigned Gustavsson 1 year 1.5M Lightning resigned Alex Kilorn 2 years 5.1 million (2.4M, 2.7M)

Signed Holland signs 4 year extension with wings **MOD Warning Post 130**

Four more years of no Stanley Cup! Whoo hoo! -
March 26th for sure. That game meant everything to us ending our 42 year streak. A couple other games live that stick out to me was game one of the 2002 Western Conference finals vs. the Av's when McCarty scored the hat trick in the 3rd against Roy. The Joe was insane! Also Franzen's 4 goal 2 assist game against the Sharks in the playoffs was the most dominate individual effort I have ever seen in a game live.

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades
Datsyukian-Deke replied to Datsyukian-Deke's topic in General
Nothing I said was a gut feeling. Everything I said were observations of watching him play. A gut feeling would be if I said " i feel like he will score 40 goals some day". Nothing like that was said. -

I love these analytics they use now. Using math and science instead of gut feelings is looking like the next big wave in the NHL. I personally have been very high on Tatar and was never for him being traded in any package for a defenseman. He has a quick release, he is a fast skater and most of all his tenacious compete level is something I noticed every time he was on the ice. He also plays with a lot of heart. My favorite moment of last season is when he played when his dad died. I went to that game (which was in LA) and it was an amazing moment when he scored and pointed to the rafters. I'm telling you 2.75M is nothing for a player with his intangibles. -
Signed Tatar Signs 3 Year Deal $2.75 mill AAV
Datsyukian-Deke replied to marcaractac's topic in General
I wouldn't go that far...the cap will go up again and we prolly won't re-sign Andersson. Smith and Jurco I don't see getting what Tatar just got. Nyquist will be the only one getting decent money. We will still have cap space left to low ball free agents and lose out on them. -
Signed Tatar Signs 3 Year Deal $2.75 mill AAV
Datsyukian-Deke replied to marcaractac's topic in General
In 3 years we will say this signing is a steal. Look at all the people that complained about the Kronwall signing at first. The cap will continue to go up and he will be a bargain scoring 20-30 goals a season. -

The term is perfect for both sides. Both sides will get to see what they have in 3 years. -
signed Ferraro re-signed: 1-year $550K (2-way)
Datsyukian-Deke replied to rick zombo's topic in General
I don't want to ride him off completely, be he simply looked out of place in his limited time in the NHL. I don't see him being much more than a fourth liner with at best having potential as a 3rd liner. -
2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades
Datsyukian-Deke replied to Datsyukian-Deke's topic in General
No that is not what I am saying. It's because he makes promises to washed up players like cleary and signs Quincey for over four mill per he could have signed another comparable left handed defensemen about 1.5 mill per. He tends to get bent over the barrel more than most GM's in the NHL. He is overly cautious and then when he realizes he has come up empty handed he makes a quick fix trade or signing that doesn't really help the team. -

I think we all know by now and it's obvious that Holland is a respected man around the league but a terrible decision maker and was made to look like a hero when he took over a star-studded team that everyone wanted to play for and there were no cap concerns in stopping players from coming here. Well those glory days are over and we now see how truly incompetent Holland really is as a GM. I'm just wondering how long the Illitch family will be fooled into thinking he is still a top GM. -
