We are not a perfect team, but we are a better team than people give us credit for and we are trending in the right direction. We are getting more goals, shots, greater possession, etc. Our power play seems unsustainably bad and should contribute regularly before long. We need more offense from Datsuks line, and more scoring from the defense. We also need to figure out player usage because it seems that part of our difficulty holding leads stems from over reliance on shutdown guys who aren't cutting it. If I were blash I might go to our better possession lines late in games rather than the fourth line. Maybe use the current lines for two periods and then go to some new, possession oriented lines later in the game if we have a lead. Maybe Pav, helm Tatar, and zetterberg , Larkin, Abby.

I also thought the game was more lopsided than the score indicated. The only thing that really annoyed me was Blashill changing the lines after we dominated them for two periods. Hank had a dumb giveaway on the first goal, 99 times out of 100 he doesn't do that. We gave up 2 power play goals, which we almost never do, on a series of dumb penalties. The only goal I didn't like was the fourth, which involved our 4th line getting hemmed into the d-zone. I'll consider any game in which we get 4 goals, 40+ shots, and 2 points a success.

We had 3 goals and 30 shots through two periods. Coming around offensively. Which is nice to see.

Who are the Red Wings? A team that's sitting comfortably in playoff position and one who is now consistently playing well, and often beating, some of the better teams in the league. Yep, that's us. Seems like there's considerable effort being made to make this team out like its worse than it really is. Look around guys and gals. We are a good team. And the best part?
