What was the condition on that trade? If Russo plays 30 games with Arizona or something?

Steve Yzerman to step down as GM for TBL. Will serve in "Advisory Role".

Frank Seravalli's 31 Bold Predictions: Golden Knights will hoist Stanley Cup https://www.tsn.ca/31-bold-predictions-golden-knights-will-hoist-stanley-cup-1.1183952 DETROIT - Steve Yzerman will return home to become the Red Wings’ next general manager after fulfilling his contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning at the end of this season. After 30-plus years with the Wings and four Stanley Cups, the time will be right for Ken Holland to step into another role. -
I can definitely get behind this philosophy. Completely agree. If Blashill said Ehn is definitely in, I'd assume he knows Svechnikov isn't ready to go. Svechnikov and Frk will likely be the two scratched on Thursday. Beyond that, who knows...

2018-2019 Opening Night Roster - Dedicated to BlueAdams!
krsmith17 replied to LeftWinger's topic in General
I have no idea how lines will look on opening night. Too many question marks on the back end. With everyone healthy, I'd like to see something like this... Bertuzzi- Larkin - Mantha Rasmussen - Nielsen - Nyquist Vanek - Athanasiou - Svechnikov Abdelkader - Helm - Glendening Frk / Ehn Cholowski - Daley DeKeyser - Green Kronwall / Ericsson - Jensen Kronwall / Ericsson Howard Bernier Of course, who knows if everyone will ever be healthy on this team... And if / when they are, my opinion could change 10 times before then... -
They will likely go with a 23-man roster. Whether Svechnikov is injured or not, doesn't change that, unless he's out long term (LTIR), which I doubt. It's looking like we will see something like this on opening night... Bertuzzi - Larkin - Mantha Rasmussen - Nielsen - Nyquist Vanek - Athanasiou - Helm / Abdelkader Svechnikov / Ehn - Glendening - Helm / Abdelkader Svechnikov / Ehn - Frk The defense is still up in the air, due to so much uncertainty to health. But by the sounds of it, we could be without at least 2, maybe 4 of Green, Daley, Kronwall and Ericsson... We could see something like this on opening night... DeKeyser - Cholowski Sulak - Hronek Hicketts - Jensen ... which is exciting and scary...

Apparently Svechnikov is injured from that play he went awkwardly into the boards... Is Ehn a placeholder until Evgeny is healthy?

Why does the NHL sort teams by points and not percentage or games behind like in the NBA or MLB?

I'm not sure if you're serious... Standings during the season absolutely do matter. Most teams have a board in their dressing room with league standings listed on it all season. Standings matter to fans, players, coaches and management. I have no idea why you think they're "meaningless" during the season... Here's just one of many logical reasons for "in season" standings to have meaning / use. It's mid February and your team has played 49 games. You have a 26-19-4 record. Are you going to buy, sell or stand pat at the Trade Deadline? It might depend on where you sit in the standings, would it not?... We always hear that teams that are in / out of a playoff spot by US Thanksgiving, have a high probability of making / missing the playoffs. It's obviously not a forgone conclusion at that point, but standings DO matter. They don't matter as much in the first few weeks, but they do still serve a purpose, even that early in the season. As for the OP, I don't think it matters much how the standings are listed, as long as you know how to interpret them, which is pretty straight forward whether it's total points or point percentage... -
Bold: I strongly disagree. Chili Peppers were great in their day. Same goes for Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, etc. U2, not so much in my opinion...

Anyone else notice that Calgary waived Curtis Lazar yesterday? What ever happened to this kid? He was once a highly touted prospect, drafted 17th overall, put up solid numbers in the WHL, was a beast for Canada in the WJC... Since then has fallen off big time. It looks like he may be a career minor leaguer, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Wings take a gamble on him...
-
U2 are f***ing awful... Fight Me!

I remember when Andersson / Emmerton brought those same elements and promise... I don't see Ehn as a long term solution. Where does he even fit in on this team right now? Larkin, Athanasiou and Nielsen are slated to be our top 3 centers, and I think Helm and Glendening (and Turgeon) are better options for the 4th line center role... Is he going to play on the wing? Again, better options on the team and in GR in my opinion.
-
Ehn impressed me relative to expectations, only because they were pretty much nonexistent. I'm not sure Ehn will ever be any better than a Andersson / Emmerton though. I would have preferred Turgeon get that spot, but whatever. I'm not too concerned about that 12th/13th forward spot. It is nice to see management make the decision to waive cement knuckles over the younger, more skilled Ehn though.

Yeah, that is really dumb...

An ELC slides even if the player is playing in the AHL. The only way a year is burnt is if the player plays 10+ games in the NHL.
-
Sulak with the breakaway power-play goal.
-
Frk with a bomb on the power-play. Set up by Hronek. Yup, looked that way to me.
-
Smith having another strong game. Zadina shaken up. Looked like a knee on knee collision... Svechnikov having a strong game as well.
-
Saarijarvi with the power-play goal and Turgeon with the short-handed goal.
-
No. An entry level contract will slide until the player plays a minimum of 10 NHL games in a season. The player can play up to 9 games before it burns a year of the contract. Most high draft picks are signed to an ELC right after being drafted. Only the elite of the elite end up playing right out of the gate. The rest remain in junior, minors or Europe, without burning a year of the contract. The only thing this signing really means is that he will count toward the 50-man roster limit.
-
I think Cholowski is a lock to make the opening night roster. Who should be next in line? Hicketts? Hronek? Sulak? Saarijarvi? My bet is on Hicketts, although I think Sulak is probably more deserving...
-
AAALL ABOOOARD! It looks like Cholowski and Rasmussen may have made the opening night roster... They're both scratched tonight in a game that features an AHL heavy roster. It looks like Blashill has made his decision on Cholo and Ras but wants another look at the other kids. Hronek, Sulak, Saarijarvi, Hicketts, Zadina, Frk, Svechnikov, Ehn, Turgeon, Smith, Pope, Puempel are all playing tonight.

YOU THOUGHT IT... YOU F***ING JINXED US!!!
