There are basically two players I'd be disappointed if we drafted with our 9th overall pick, Michael Rasmussen and Eeli Tolvanen... Of course those are just two that are projected to go in the top 15 range, obviously many others beyond that. It's Glass, Tippett, Liljegren or Makar for me...
-
Drouin, now that's a kid I'd like to see us go after. Again, similar package I'd offer for Duchene or Galchenyuk (maybe a little more), but we should be inquiring if he is indeed available.

Beauchemin sucks and Phaneuf is massively overpaid. The only way I take Dion is if Ottawa want to eat half his salary and take Ericsson back in return...
-
Exactly this for me as well. I'd trade our 2nd round pick plus Tatar / Nyquist for sure, but I wouldn't trade our 9th overall, plus for Duchene.

If that is managements thought process, I really question their ability to manage this team going forward. The only situation you MIGHT be able to justify protecting Howard over Mrazek is if we're in win now mode, going for the Cup this season. We're not, and even if we were, I'd still choose Mrazek over Howard. Jimmy is a very good goaltender, but he is also 33 years old (8 years older than Petr). You go with the younger guy with higher upside 10 out of 10 times, especially for a team rebuilding (or retooling)...

Yup, Holland should be fired if he loses a 3rd line forward / 3rd pairing defenseman in the expansion draft. Not because they're good players, but because they're cheap. Whoever we lose, won't be close to the top player Vegas picks up. Some teams will likely lose borderline top line forwards, top pair defensemen and starting goalies. But yeah, we should pay Vegas to take Howard (who is a starting caliber goalie) so we don't lose one of our 3rd string players... If we're paying Vegas to take a player it should not be Howard...

I don't think that would be near enough to get it done. I'd have interest in Galchenyuk, the same way I would Duchene, but I wouldn't be willing to massively overpay like I think we would have to to get them.

http://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/nhl/red-wings/2017/06/14/ted-kulfan-projects-protected-unprotected-wings/102863326/ Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News projects us to protect Howard over Mrazek... Hopefully this is just his (dumb) opinion, not an inside scoop... He has us protecting... Zetterberg, Nielsen, Nyquist, Tatar, Abdelkader, Mantha, Athanasiou - Pretty much exactly what we should expect. I'm fine with it. Green, DeKeyser, Jensen - Pretty much this. Jensen could be swapped for either Ouellet or Sproul and I'd be okay with it. Howard - If Howard is protected over Mrazek, Holland is a f***ing moron. I can't imagine this being the case though...

Better be Howard he has interest in... You're missing my point. You say you don't want to trade Ericsson because you're afraid Holland will sign another bad contract, but then you go on to say that we should trade Green (which would free up even more cap space) to sign a "Dumba type". Why does trading Ericsson equal signing another bad player / contract, but trading Green equals signing / trading for a good player / contract?

I'd be okay if Nosek is the only kid that makes the team in October. Both Svechnikov and Bertuzzi could use a little more time down in Grand Rapids. They will both be up at some point when the inevitable injuries hit. I'd also like Frk on the team, even if it's as the 13th forward. I'm also excited to see Hicketts, but he may see another full season down in GR before he gets a look.
-
But by trading Green to Edmonton, we'd free up cap space, that would be used to sign Girardi? I'd still like to use an asset to get Vegas to take Ericsson, but we all know that isn't going to happen. It's not that I think anyone that is left unprotected would be a huge loss, it's just that it would be a huge gain to lose Ericsson. And again, I don't even think Ericsson is THAT bad, just that we could use the cap space, and even more than that, the roster spot.

Bertuzzi has scored 23 goals (39 points) in 42 games playoff games with the Griffins over the past three years.
-
MVP Tyler Bertuzzi!
-
Dan Cleary... the real reason the Griffins won...

2017 CALDER CUP CHAMPS!!!

Frk!!! 4-3.

Bertuzzi!!! 3-3.
-
Callahan! 2-2.
-
Ford! 1-1, 18 seconds into 2nd. Finally click on the power-play.

Coreau f***ing sucks...
-
So why not throw in a "worthless" player like Nyquist, Tatar or Helm...
-
Mantha - Larkin - Tippett Svechnikov - Athanasiou - Svechnikov
-
Griffins will hoist the Calder Cup tonight. Go Griffs!

Again, not sure how serious you can take these guys when they're entertaining the idea that there is even a remote possibilty that Athanasiou could be exposed. Holland has made his fair share of blunders over the past few years, but there's no way he'd lose a talented kid like Andreas for free in an expansion draft... Not going to happen.
