    Darren Raddysh

Drafted by Tampa, and could possibly make the team this year. But yeah, that's what I was thinking could likely happen as well.

    Darren Raddysh

Raddysh will receive a contract from an NHL team, no question, and I'd be okay with Holland offering him one. It never hurts to have depth, but we really need a top end guy, and I highly doubt Darren Raddysh is that. But hey, maybe he could convince his brother Taylor to sign with the Wings...

    2017 Draft

Yeah, I know Fisch was a big reason we landed Nosek a few years ago. I personally would prefer other players over Necas as our top pick, but he wouldn't be the worst pick at 9 (or later if we trade back).

    No he won't...

    Griffins Calder Cup Playoffs Thread

The thing I like about Frk other than his cannon of a (right handed) shot, is that he plays with a bit of an edge. He's a fiesty son of a b****, and can hit pretty hard. Solid frame at 6'1", 200lbs. I still think he can be a solid 3rd line power-play trigger man in the NHL. I just hope we don't lose him to waivers... again.

    Vegas Golden Knights

I agree, but we all know it's not going to happen... Honestly, I'd be shocked if Holland sheds any contracts other than the one that Vegas takes, which will in all likelihood be one of the smaller contracts that we don't want to lose...

    Darren Helm re-signed: 5 years, $3.85m AAV

Yeah, Glendening is a mediocre 4th liner that can be replaced any and every year by a UFA or kid within the system. It was crazy to give him anything close to the 4 years at $1.8M that he received... The most he should have gotten was 2 years at $1M. The Glendening, Nielsen, Ericsson and Howard deals are the worst in my opinion...

    Vegas Golden Knights

I've also seen some mocks with Kronwall being protected. I want to believe there's no chance that happens, but I honestly wouldn't put it past Holland to do it... I've been saying for weeks now that we should wait until the trade deadline to trade Green, but part of me wants to trade him before the expansion draft, to gain an extra pick, and to be able to protect another defenseman. I'm not sure who I'd protect between Ouellet and Jensen. I don't think either are any more than 4 / 5 defensemen. I like Jensen because he's a much better skater, and puck mover. I like Ouellet because he's younger, more physical, and probably a little more well rounded. I don't think either would be a huge loss though. Part of me wants to leave Ouellet unprotected so that maybe Vegas would take him over Sproul, who I'd prefer to keep out of all three... Best case scenario would still be to give up an asset for Vegas to take a bad contract...

    Darren Helm re-signed: 5 years, $3.85m AAV

I'd love to see where Helm has ever said or implied that he thinks he's a top 6 forward...

    Darren Helm re-signed: 5 years, $3.85m AAV

Not much has changed for me. I still think he's one of the better bottom 6 forwards in the league when healthy. Slightly overpaid in salary and term, but far from our worst contract. Exactly this.

    Vegas Golden Knights

I think Ouellet will be protected.

Nosek! 2nd of the game on the power play with 13 seconds remaining. Griffins win game 1!

    Vegas Golden Knights

Yeah, I'd be disappointed if we lose Sproul as well. If he's left unprotected (he will be), I can definitely see him being the most attractive player available from the Wings. I can definitely see him going to any other team and moulding into a very good top 4, power-play quarterback. I'm still hoping Holland will use a mid round pick and / or mid level prospect to get them to take Ericsson off our hands. Or maybe we don't have to give them anything and they take Howard (doubtful)...

    Targets for the Wings

Yeah, Faulk is amazing. Another 2nd round steal. You say they're looking for centers? Sheahan for Faulk straight up. It's a steal for Carolina really. I mean, we're basically trading our 2010 1st round pick for their 2010 2nd round pick... Back to reality... Yeah, I would think any of those first 4 you mentioned should be able to be had for the right price. I think both Hanifin and Faulk would be on their "untouchable list" though... Bean would be my target of the 4, but for the same reason, he may be the hardest to convince the Caines to trade. Bean would instantly become our top prospect, and legit shot at being a number one defenseman in couple years. If we added Bean via trade and Glass (if available) in this year's draft, I think we would be in pretty good shape going forward.

    Targets for the Wings

I like Slavin a lot, and I've mentioned going after him or Pesce in the past. I'd give up one of Nyquist or Tatar for Slavin without thinking twice. Carolina have a glut of high end defensemen in their system. Fleury or Bean would be great options as well.

    Vegas Golden Knights

Sheahan, Ouellet or a 3rd to take Ericsson would be a good deal for us. It's possible they could have some interest in Howard as well...

    Targets for the Wings

I'd use Frk and Callahan as the extra forwards going into next season. So no, I don't see either of them as having more potential than Anderson. I can see Nosek putting up similar (or close to) numbers as Anderson. And like I've been saying, I'd rather give someone within the organization a shot, than "overpay" in a trade. Overpayment in my opinion would be Bertuzzi and 2nd or something similar. I agree with most of what you're saying, but I'd put Bertuzzi in that conversation as well. Sure we could make a trade to improve our bottom 6 if a deal falls in our lap. If Kekalainen calls and says "we're looking to trade Anderson, are you interested?" Of course you'd listen, but unless you can get him at a very reasonable price, I'd pass, and hold onto the assets to go after the bigger fish. Same goes for if a bottom three defenseman becomes available. I'd prefer to fill from within and hold onto the assets for higher end players.

    Targets for the Wings

I will obviously give up assets to improve the team, I just don't believe trading for Anderson drastically improves our team. I don't want to overpay for a guy like Anderson. If we're overpaying it needs to be for a stud defenseman, not a winger that likely tops out as a middle 6 winger. Reasonable price as in the price of Frk and a 3rd that you suggested that I agreed with? Absolutely.

    Targets for the Wings

Buppy, you're the most argumentative person on here. Sorry, I didn't elaborate on my original post, "no thanks". You can try to paint a picture all you want that I meant something I didn't. Whatever. But when I said "no thanks", it was because (for the umpteenth time) I'd prefer to fill the roster from within, because I believe we have guys as good or better within the organization, and I see no need in relinquishing assets on our biggest area of strength. "Grow a set" hahaha. Grow the f*** up dude. You, along with a few others here always think you're the smartest people in the room, try to argue about the most trivial s***, and puff out your chest when you're done. Go ahead. You're right. I was clearly wrong. I obviously should have explained exactly why I didn't want Anderson in my original post...

    Targets for the Wings

Okay, so we have two open spots. You'd prefer to give up assets and go outside the organization to fill the spots. I'd prefer to fill the spots with players already within the organization. I have Nosek and Svechnikov placed above the more proven Helm and Abdelkader because as I've stated in the past, I belive that would be a killer 4th line. They would likely get more minutes than my 3rd line anyway, so why does it matter? Yes I am thinking in terms of potential. And I think we have players within the system that can "potentially" fill the vacant spot(s). Maybe Anderson would be a better option, but I highly doubt he would be THAT much better that it would be worth giving up the assets to get him here. If we're putting pieces together to acquire a player, it shouldn't be for a winger, it should be for a high end defenseman. Really? Did I really need to add the "if he comes cheap" bit. Do you actually think if Columbus offered him for a 3rd, I wouldn't do it? Give me a f***ing break. All I'm saying is, in a "Targets for the Wings" thread, I don't have much interest in bottom 6 wingers. You do? Great! We done here?

    Targets for the Wings

I already explained why I "dismissed him". Because at this point in his career, he's a bottom 6 player. We don't need any more bottom 6 players. Your count is different than mine. I have 15 that could crack the 14 forward roster. Nyquist - Zetterberg - Mantha Tatar - Larkin - Athanasiou Nosek - Nielsen - Svechnikov Abdelkader - Helm - Glendening Sheahan - Frk / Bertuzzi / Callahan Maybe because like I've said, I'd rather call up a kid from GR than give up assets on a guy that is a relative unknown. Again, if he can be had for cheap, by all means... I absolutely would label Athanasiou as a bottom 6 forward at this stage of his career, as well as Nosek and Bertuzzi as AHL players, because that's exactly what they are. Does that mean that's all they will ever be? Or all I ever expect them to be? Hell no. Just that's what they are at this point in their careers. Anyway, it's hilarious that there is so much arguing and discussion over a player like Josh f***ing Anderson, a player that likely won't even be moved, let alone to Detroit... I've said my part, no thanks, unless he comes cheap...

    Targets for the Wings

None of the "overpaid bums" should be protected. If Holland were smart he'd be protecting Nielsen, Zetterberg, Nyquist, Tatar, Mantha, Athanasiou and Sheahan. Although I think he may protect Abdelkader over Sheahan unfortunately...

    New signing

You don't think DeKeyser was a better UDFA signing? He 100% was. I'd even say Glendening was / is as good a signing as Lebda, and this coming from someone who regularly says that Glendening is replaceable. I'd even put Brunner in the conversation, even though he only played half a season... Lebda wasn't terrible. He was a serviceable 3rd pairing defenseman for a short stint here. And that's about all you can expect out of most UDFA's.
