    Looking ahead at expansion draft

I don't know why you keep suggesting that Holland will leave Nyquist unprotected. There's literally zero chance that happens, no matter how much you inexplicably hate on him. I'm still hoping there will be a trade before the expansion draft, and maybe Nyquist is the player we move, but if we do decide to move him, there will be a decent return. We're not just going to give a player of his ability away for nothing...

    2017 NHLTrade Deadline Discussion

That's exactly how I felt about Jurco / feel about Sheahan. I'd still prefer if we had kept Jurco rather than trading him for the 3rd, but there's no question Holland got good value for a player that was a regular healthy scratch. If Nyquist or Tatar are traded, they should be part of a package to bring in a defenseman. It would be dumb to trade them for a pick, or worse again, leave one of them unprotected in the expansion draft...
  3. Oh the irony of that bolded statement. You are literally the only one here trying to "impress" anyone. Who the f*** goes on an hockey forum "bragging" about money and investments? LOL

Shea Weber for Pernal Karl Subban

    F***ing Love that guy.

    Pulkkinen claimed by Minnesota Wild

I'd still take either on this team over Miller or Ott, but that's just me...

    Call ups have started

They'll still need the extra body as Nyquist is the only extra forward right now. Miller "should" be the man sitting next game... I also expect we will recall a defensemen over the next couple days, as we're currently running with six...
  7. Great point. The problem with that theory though is that Jeff Blashill is still coaching this team... Lines at practice today... Tatar - Zetterberg - Mantha Athanasiou - Nielsen - Sheahan Larkin - Helm - Abdelkader Miller - Glendening - Callahan
  8. I want to acquire as many 2nd and 3rd round picks as possible, and draft as many mobile, offensive defensemen, with decent size as possible, and hope one of them develop into a stud, future number one...

Ott traded to Montreal for 6th Round Pick (2018)

Haha just "No"... Hicketts can't punch faces. He may be able to punch knee cap though...
  10. I base the winner of any trade on who got more to help their team, not what the individual teams got vs what they lost... Basically, I think Vanek will help the Panthers on their playoff run more than the 3rd round pick or McIlrath will help us on our rebuild. The market obviously wasn't there for Vanek, which is why we had to take what we could get. I agree with the bolded. We won't know who won this trade until after we see how Vanek does with Florida, or even until after we see how the player we take with that 3rd round pick turns out. All trades including prospects / picks take years to truly evaluate, but that doesn't mean you can't judge who you "think" will win the trade... I think Florida won this trade. Holland did do the best he could, but we still come out on the "losing" end of this trade in my opinion. Florida will likely get a "better bang for their buck". I think any time a team gets fair value for a rental player that can help their team for a playoff run, it's a win.
  11. No idea what this even means... I think Holland lost this trade. That doesn't mean he shouldn't have made the trade or that he could have gotten more. I think Vanek is more valuable to a team going on a playoff run, than a 3rd round pick and a minor leaguer is to us. However, I also think the return is better than nothing, so I'm glad he pulled the trigger. What's so hard to understand about that?... Also, Florida didn't need to move a contract. They're nowhere near the cap or the roster limit. McIlrath was just a throw-in, that will likely sign elsewhere this summer...
  12. Minor leaguer's are involved in trades all the time. Holland did lose this trade in my opinion, but maybe that is all he could get for Vanek. If that is the case, I'm happy he got a 3rd for him, rather than nothing. Bottom line is that Vanek needed to be traded regardless of what kind of return he would get. Not impressed by the trade at all, but good on Holland for getting something...

    2017 NHLTrade Deadline Discussion

I'd be okay with Mittelstadt if we end up around 7, I don't want us to take Makar though unless it's a 15+ pick... Not a fan of any of the defense in the top half of the draft.

    2017 NHLTrade Deadline Discussion

I agree with that for sure. I didn't mean for that to sound like McDavid and Matthews are at all in the same league, just that both (the past two first overall picks) are much better than what Patrick is projected to be. I would put Patrick in the tier below Matthews / Eichel as of right now, but who knows, he may exceed expectations...

    2017 NHLTrade Deadline Discussion

I've only seen highlights of Patrick, and read some articles, but the one name that I've heard him compared to the most is Toews. I'm not sure how accurate that is, or if he will ever reach that sort of potential, but he's definitely not a generational talent like a McDavid or Matthews. I've said this before and part of me is more intrigued with Vilardi over Patrick. I'm kind of hoping we get the 3rd overall pick and take Vilardi to be honest. He's basically a full year younger, same size, both are right shooting centers, putting up similar points and doesn't have the injury history...
  16. I'd be shocked if McIlrath plays a single game with the Red Wings. He's a UFA after this season and if he is re-signed (I doubt he will be), it will be strictly to play in Grand Rapids. The only thing he can do is punch faces, he's not a hockey player...
  17. I post here because my fiancé is a Leafs fan, dad is a Habs fan, brother-in-law is a Habs fan, all my close buddies are Leafs fans and one Canucks and Oilers fan... Not a single Wings fan... None of them give a s*** about the Red Wings. I love discussing Red Wings hockey, and this has been a great place to do that. Not because "I'm wasting my life posting", "have nothing to show in other areas of my life"... I'd bet anything that this lwing guy is a f***ing loser that lives in his parent's basement. No offense to anyone else that does, but at least you're not trying to impress the internet with all your success stories...

Ott traded to Montreal for 6th Round Pick (2018)

You seem very excited for a player who probably won't ever wear the Winged Wheel... He's starting the season in Grand Rapids and will likely play the remainder of the season down there. He's a UFA after this season, and probably won't (shouldn't) be re-signed. McIlrath is not a good hockey player. He's a big, terrible skater, that can hit and fight, that's it. By the way, Smith >>>>> McIlrath, and it's not even close...

    2017 NHLTrade Deadline Discussion

I do think we "could" be a lot closer than some people think, if the right moves are made, but I do agree, Nolan Patrick would not be able to carry this team in his rookie season the way Matthews or McDavid have their respective teams. When people keep saying, "this is a weak draft", they're talking about the talent at the top. There's some very good young players at the top, but no true studs. I'm sure the 2nd round and onward are much the same as past draft classes, with some decent players, some busts as well as some steals. In saying that, I do hope we can somehow draft one of Patrick or Vilardi, because either would help this team immensely. I'm also still holding out hope that we can make some moves this summer, to offload some big contracts, add a couple more picks, possibly move up in the draft, and maybe even add a top pair defenseman... A lot can still happen between now and October...

    2017 NHLTrade Deadline Discussion

Yeah, I fully expected to have two picks in each of the first three rounds next season, instead we have our 1st, 2nd and four 3rd's. Not very happy with the outcome here at all...
  21. No, the top of the draft sucks, as in no elite players like McDavid, Matthews. The rest of the draft, aka 2nd round and later, is pretty standard. I'd take a 3rd in this years draft every time over a 3rd a year from now...

    2017 NHLTrade Deadline Discussion

You don't ACTUALLY think this do you? Nyquist isn't being traded today. I don't see him going anywhere, but IF he does, it'll be in the offseason, certainly not today...
  23. Why do people keep saying this? We should be going for as many picks for this year as we can, not next year, unless we're talking 1st rounders.
  24. Not t at all impressed with this trade. Should have been a much higher pick. With all the prices for rentals through the roof this year, we should have easily gotten a 1st for Vanek, 2nd at the very least...
