Ott traded to Montreal for 6th Round Pick (2018)
krsmith17 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Yup, and Mark Stone is even better. There are late round steals since 2012 as well, just waiting to get their chance to prove themselves. Hopefully some were drafted by the Wings... I still think James De Haas could be a solid bottom 4 defenseman. Maybe Axel Holmstrom and / or Matthias Elfstrom develop into bottom 6 forwards. And that's just looking at the last two rounds... -
Ott traded to Montreal for 6th Round Pick (2018)

I don't think anyone is getting too excited about a 6th round pick. But a pick, no matter how late, is more valuable to the team going forward than another handful of games from Steve Ott... No, there aren't many steals in the late rounds, but there still are a few just about every year. Go back around 5 drafts (that's how long it takes these guys to develop) and you will see a few players drafted in the 5th-7th rounds that are decent to good NHLers today. And again, even a decent player 5 years from now is better than pointlessly holding onto an unrestricted free agent... 2012 Connor Brown (6th round, 156 overall) Linus Ullmark (6th round, 163 overall) 2011 Josh Manson (6th round, 160 overall) Jyrki jokipakka (7th round, 195 overall) Ryan Dzingel (7th round, 204 overall) Alexey Marchenko (7th round, 205 overall) Ondrèj Palat (7th round, 208 overall) Scott Wilson (7th round, 209 overall) 2010 Jesper Fast (6th round, 157 overall) Mark Stone (6th round, 178 overall) Frederik Andersen (7th round, 187 overall) Zach Trotman (7th round, 210 overall) No studs, but I'd take every one of them over a few games of any player... -
Vanek to Anaheim for Brandon Montour straight up. Get it done Kenny... or Shea Theadore... I'm not too picky...
-
I think the Leafs got their guy when they traded for Boyle. No interest in Sheahan after that trade. Hoping Vrbata gets traded early today. Price for Vanek should sky rocket after he's off the board...
-
Vanek isn't part of the future, and it shouldn't matter if he wants to re-sign this offseason or not, you still trade him to the highest bidder. If we make some moves this summer and we have 2-3 spots open up front, then we can talk about re-signing, but you still trade him today regardless.

Ott traded to Montreal for 6th Round Pick (2018)

Good stuff Kenny. Can we get a 7th for Miller? -
Tomorrow 3pm EST.

Really Ken? Risking injury to your best trade chip, in an attempt to win this game tonight is the right decision for this team? I really hope he doesn't get injured, but man, what if... Imagine rolling the dice, risk losing a 1st and 2nd round pick because you thought it was that important to win this game tonight...

I'm thinking they will call up Lashoff as the number 7. I wouldn't mind seeing Russo or Hicketts, but not at the expense of Sproul again...

Brendan Smith traded to Rangers for 2nd (2018) and 3rd (2017) Round Draft Picks

Considering some were saying we'd be lucky to get a 3rd or 4th for Smith... -

Maybe Brendan isn't near as bad as you and others make him out to be... I think he will be a good fit in New York. -

You will be missed in Detroit... by at least one fan... Good luck in New York! -
No idea. Just that it was reported that several teams were inquiring about Smith, and some here were complaining that he didn't jump at the first deal...
-
3. Chicago, Toronto and New York. Traded ours away to San Jose for Sadowy. As of now, we have one 1st, two 2nds, three 3rds, 4th, 5th, two 6ths (Florida) and 7th... Hopefully we can add another 1st for Vanek.

Stupid Holland, not taking the first deal that was presented to him, waiting for a much better deal to come along... F***ing love Smitty, but that is a great return. Still hope we can somehow ship out Ericsson and re-sign him in the offseason, but if not, good luck!
-
Also Vermette with Arizona if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure there are others as well...
-
Trade Smith for a 2nd round pick, trade Ericsson this summer and then re-sign Smith after the expansion draft? That's a win, win, win in my book...
-
Great news! Hopefully he gets moved today...

You would think the guy that got fired would garner less... Another weird NHL ruling...
