Sambrook. Really happy with that pick. He was another guy I liked. Johnson is a defenseman from Michigan. Will play at UofM next season.

Givani Smith certainly would not have been available in the 5th-7th rounds... I really like that pick a lot.

Nathan Noel was another player I wanted in the later rounds. Chicago just took him with their 4th rounder...

Givani Smith was off the board, but the more I read about this kid, the more I like this pick. Big power-forward, molds his game to that of Wayne Simmonds... Could turn out to be a steal.

I don't pretend to know better than any of these NHL scouts, and I certainly give the Wings staff the benefit of the doubt. I thought the point of this thread was to play armchair GM? I'm not saying any of my picks will turn out to be better, but of course I wanted the Wings to select the players I picked... Any of these kids could turn out to be steals, and of course I hope they do.

I like Day, Green and Carlsson on the back end and Bastian (doubt he drops), Raddysh, Allison and Kuznetson up front...

When I seen McLeod and then Bean go off the board, I was pissed... Then when I seen Chychrun drop to us, I was ecstatic... Then when I seen us trading the pick, I was pissed... Then when I seen what we traded the pick for, I was ecstatic... Then when I seen Fabbro go off the board I was slightly pissed... Then when I seen the players left on the board I was ecstatic... Then when I seen the player that we picked over all these other kids, I was beyond pissed... Now after 12 hours and sleeping on it, reading a lot more about him, I'm somewhat okay with the pick... I'm not near as upset about us passing over Chychrun as I am with the selection we made in place of it... Hopefully we have a successful day two today and we can land a couple steals in the second round...

First, how the hell do you know who initiated trade talks? For all you know, Holland could have approached Chayka with the proposal, taking complete advantage of the 27 year old GM... Secondly, how the hell do you know Holland had any intention in taking Chychrun? I would agree that he seemed like the logical choice, but for all we know, there was something about the kid that our scouts didn't like, and we weren't going to take him regardless of there being a trade or not...
