Dominator, why would you split up our top 4 from last night? Both pairings were great. Kronwall and Ericsson have proven chemistry together and DeKeyser and Smith looked awesome together. The pairings within a few weeks "should" look like this in my opinion... Kronwall - Ericsson DeKeyser - Smith Ouellet - Quincey Lashoff

Yup, we should get rid of Ericsson too... I'm really not sure if you're serious LeftWinger or you're trying to troll... Either way, I still don't believe that you watch the games, or you drink a few too many wobbly pops before, during and after, that clearly alters your outlook...

I sort of feel bad for some of you that the Wings came back and won that game... I mean, I'm sure there are a few that had paragraphs ready to post about how "terrible" we are, but to their disappointment, we managed to outplay a "better" Bruins team in every facet of the game. We pulled out a huge win to kick off the season, and people are still spewing the same old s*** about the same old players... Get over it! The top two defense pairings looked great, Quincey played solid, Kindl didn't make any catastrophic mistakes, Zetterberg still doesn't look himself, but still played great, Franzen played great, Abdelkader scored a goal on the top line (off his ass, how he scores a lot of his goal...), Helm didn't look too out of place on the power-play (great assist on Nyquist' goal), the kids looked great, the 4th line was very solid, the penalty kill was perfect, although the power-play struggled at the start, they still produced, Howard looked great after that first gaff by Ericsson... We played with great structure and skated as a unit, covering positions, fore-checking and back-checking, all in all, it was a great game and we looked much faster and hungrier through the entire game. Yes, I'm well aware that it was only one game, but it was a game that we won, so quit the bitching...

Yup, Quincey had a terrible game... Do you even watch the games? Or do you just repeat the same old drivel after every game not knowing what really happened?... I'll agree that they had one bad shift together where they had trouble getting the puck out of the zone, but other than that, Quincey was solid. No he wasn't spectacular by any means but that's not what we expect from Quincey, we just need him to play solid defense, which he did. Also, Quincey does have some trade value for sure, and it wouldn't surprise me if a couple teams have some interest in Kindl in a few weeks as well.

Kip, I believe that was Brunner, not Nyquist. Frankgrimes, what do you mean by 9 game tryout? If you're talking about the junior rule, that wouldn't apply to him. Whenever they send him down, be it after one game or 20 games, he would have to clear waivers to go back to Grand Rapids.

Lol I was half kidding, but I just meant it could potentially raise his trade value but I know it wouldn't happen, and even if they did experiment with it, I highly doubt it would be a success... And Kip, I'm not sure if you were serious, but I was kidding about the "give it a try" comment. I'd like to think I'm one of the 'non-trolls' on here lol.

In all honesty, I wouldn't see pairing Kindl with Kronwall as such a bad thing, at least for a few games to start the season. See if he can gain some confidence... Doubt it would work, but hey, why not "give it a try" hey Kip?... lol

I'm well aware of it on most other sites, but it's these types of fans that irritate the hell out of me. I watch games and base my opinion on the team and individual players on what I see in each game, not what others are saying on forums. Give up the labels and watch the ******* game! For f***s sake, I was really looking forward to the DeKeyser - Smith pairing... Babcock decided to scrap that and go back to the DeKeyser - Kindl, Quincey - Smith pairings... Something has to be up with Weiss. There is no way he should be scratched over a number of guys in the lineup tonight... Samuelsson scored the first Red Wings goal of the 2013-14 season, any predictions on who will score the first of this season? I'm going to say Tatar, sexy feed from Jurco.

There are a lot of teams in the bottom half of the league with a ton of cap space that I think could possibly be interested. I may be naïve or hopeful, but I think Kindl would be an upgrade to a lot of teams bottom pairings around the league. He isn't a terrible defenseman and a change of scenery may be just what he needs. If we can get a late round draft pick for him and get Ouellet in the lineup, I'd be happy.

The problem hasn't been Weiss in my opinion, I think he has looked great out there, he just hasn't been producing. And really, how can you expect him to put up points with the linemates he was put with? I bet any of our players, including Zetterberg and Datsyuk would struggle to put up many points in preseason games with any combination of Glendening, Miller, Cleary, Andersson, Nestrasil, Nosek... The fact that he hasn't had any significant time with any of our top players is mind boggling. There has to be something else to it that us fans haven't seen, something going on in practice or behind closed doors...

I want to see Ouellet stick with the big club but there's no way he's going to be our number 7. So unless they're willing to have another $2.4M sitting in the pressbox, Lashoff won't be waived. I'm still hopeful there is a trade in the works.....

Weiss will be playing this week and as long as he is put with a couple decent linemates he will produce. He will be fine. I don't think Datsyuk will be playing the first few games, but once he gets back he will be back to his same old magic. Side note: Am I the only one who tries to picture what some people look and act like outside of this site? I have a lot of people pegged, whether I'm right or not, I'll probably never know... Either way, it entertains me to see some people act so childish on here, I can only assume that some of them are still children, but you never know...

I'm with you number9. I hate all the stupid nicknames. Especially the ones that drop a few letters and add "y" or "s" or "er" or whatever... I tend to always stick to full last names unless I find myself repeating a name over and over again, I might use Hank or Pav or something somewhere along the way. I also HATE Pavs... Anyway, end meaningless rant...

Neither would help our 4th line whatsoever. Besides we have about 10 options to fill out our bottom 6, all of which bring more to the table than either Orr or McLaren...

Roman Josi is a decent defenseman and a shot blocking machine but he's yet another lefty and for that reason I would say no thanks. Unless of course, and I think this goes for pretty much any potential trade, if Kindl were going the other way. Either way, I don't think a trade is going to happen and I'm quite okay with that as long as we see at least one of the kids up within the next month or so...

Agree kliq and I would also add that just because we haven't been the most successful with our free agent signings, I think people are really overstating that no free agents want to come here. I bet we will be a huge free agent destination within the next few years. This team is definitely on the upswing with the prospects coming along quite well and the new building to be finished in a few years. Also, our coaching and other leaders have not left for greener pastures for a chance to win, they left for a more prominent roles. eg. assistant coach to head coach or assistant general manager to general manager...

I've only seen Janmark play a few games, the seven or eight he played with Grand Rapids last season and another game or two of international play. I haven't been overly impressed with him so far to be honest. Also, he isn't even signed yet as far as I know, and I believe he is behind a few other guys on the depth chart. In my opinion both Nosek and Athanasiou should be ahead of him in the pecking order. But like I said, I haven't seen enough of him to say for sure. He is currently top 20 in the SHL with 5 (3-2) points in 7 games so he must be doing something right.

I don't know much about this Malykhin guy, other than a few articles I've read but as far as Jarnkrok goes, I think Nosek is our replacement for him. And to be honest I think he has a good chance at being a better player than Jarnkrok. He definitely has the size advantage and he absolutely has the skills. I really like what I've seen from him thus far in training camp and preseason. He's in the lineup tonight and I expect him to get on the scoresheet at least once.
