I'm guessing Holland is thinking by the time Jurco comes back, someone else will be hurt. Probability does favor that as at any point in the season a team usually has a few injuries. Either way, if its up to me I waive Miller or Ott and keep XO on the roster.

I'm sorry you feel its irresponsible and please don't take it personally, but its a bit unreasonable to expect people to blindly accept results that are posted on a message board as 100% legitimate, especially when the results seem to be very far of from what the general consensus appears to be. Big difference between someone possibly posting a fake poll (or posting with a very small sample size) and the questioning of a national election. Can you post the link to the results opposed to just a screenshot?

Well Datsyuk's situation was unique because Arizona doesn't have to actually pay Datsyuk, but I think you are right. Anything Detroit pays I believe would be considered "retained salary".

Im not worried about the taking UFA's, why would a UFA sign with Vegas a team they have zero loyalty to before being able to receive any offers from other teams. The RFA thing scares me though. That means we could lose any of AA, Jurco, XO, Pasquale, Russo, Paterson, Lashoff, Callahan, or Jensen IN ADDITION to whomever they pick in the expansion draft. Though I would have to guess AA is going to be protected. If I'm Jurco or XO, I would totally consider it.

Ya, once the bridge was announced I figured "The Gordie Howe" arena was pretty much going to be a no go. Maybe they can make a trade, call the bridge "The Little Ceasers Bridge" and call the arena "The Gordie Howe arena"....come on Holland, get on it!!! lol. Either simply call it "The Joe Louis Arena" similar to what they did in NY with the new Yankees stadium, or go with something new. Is this legit? The recapture is only if he retires healthy. He wouldn't retire, if he cant play anymore due to knee issues he would go on LTIR. With that being said, I think you can only have so much on LTIR so that would mean we would likely have to trade his contract or Franzen's contract to a team like Arizona where they would use it against the cap. In 2016, can Detroit trade a contract along with cash? So for example....."Wings trade Franzen, 9million, and a 5th round pick to Arizona for a 7th round pick"?

I feel like if you gave the following two scenario's: 1) The Wings click/gel like an elite team, they win the cup and Holland wins GM of the year. 2) This winning streak is nothing more then an outlier of how this season is going to go. Wings finish bottom 5, fire Holland. There are some that would rather see option two, as being right is more important then the team succeeding. Now I dont see either of these happening, but its the point.

As long as the cap works, I dont think they have to waive anyone. They only have 2 guys right now in the press box, and I'm pretty sure you are allowed 3. If anything, XO would just be a health scratch. Or am I missing something?

He's on Long Term Injured Reserve (LTIR). Meaning his cap hit does not count, but he is still paid. His career is over ala Chris Pronger.

I don't know for sure, but I think the weather has a lot to do with it as Edmonton has had the same reputation. Personally I think when you have something like weather coupled with perpetual losing, that is how something like this happens. Win, and you wont have to worry about it. I doubt anyone had an issue playing for Edmonton in the 80's.
