Just curious, what are your thoughts on Cole Caufield? I havent been following the draft too much, but I just watched Bob McKenzie's draft preview and among the guys in our range, him and Dach got my interest. McKenzie called him easily the best goal scorer in the draft.

This is clearly in reference to RFA's, any of the over payments Holland ever made was to UFA's. Exactly.

This will be very interesting, Tippet was always known for having nothing special on his rosters, but getting the most out of them. Now he is coaching a team that has the elite of the elite talent wise, but arent performing. Very curious to see what he can do.

I absolutely hate Boston and I am pulling for Carolina to win, but I wouldn't hate a San Jose vs Boston finals. It would be a cool story-line with Thornton trying to win a cup against the team that traded him away. If Boston ended up winning though, it would just suck.

The other thing that annoys me is if Lidstrom scores on Fleury in game 7, then they go to OT and the Wings score before Osgood faces a shot, he likely wins the Conn Smythe and that seals his fate into the HHOF. A scenario where he LITERALLY does nothing differently, but everything would change.

Yup, and especially in 2008. 25 years later and he's one of my favorite goaltenders of all time. Hopefully he gets into the HHOF, he deserves it.

I think I was 12 years old at the time. I can remember sitting in my living room after the game with tears in my eyes, not wanting to talk to anyone lol. I was so pissed at Osgood, such a bad give away. But you're right, it led to Vernon coming in, which led to '97, which led to '98. So in hindsight, all the dominoes fell as they did which ultimately led to greatness.

I hate Boston and I would love it if Boston were too loose, but ultimately as much of a cool story that it is to see Mrazek and Mac play like they are, I just don't think they have the talent in net to pull it off in 4 rounds. With that said, PLEASE prove me wrong guys!

100% agree. I said this earlier, but the only time a call determines a series is if its a BS call to end the series. So for example, if a team "scores" in OT and its called a goal, but then its revealed the goal never went it, BUT they have safeguards with replay so that will never happen anyways.

Thankfully they wont matter for the expansion draft. All the NTC/NMC's will not be an issue by then. At this point, they look like this: Nielsen - 10 team no trade list (as far as I know, nothing about expansion draft as its no longer a full NMC like it was last time) Abby - In 2021 NTC becomes void if the Wings dont make the playoffs OR if he is NOT top 9 in TOI. (Can't see him top 9 in 2 years) Helm - In June 2019 becomes void for a year if the WIngs dont make playoffs (which they didnt) DD - Can submit a 10 team no trade list (see nothing about Expansion Draft) Green, E, Kronwall, Daley - Moot as all will be expired

Gifted or not gifted the PP, SJ was not given 4 goals. Vegas kills that penalty, they win, end of story. Vegas deserved to loose. Obviously the Vegas PK and the cloudier goal were not identical, however in both scenarios something fluky happened and in both scenarios the team that lost couldn’t recover from it which was on them, you can’t blame the team that took advantage. You want to put an “asterisk” next to it, then go do it to every cup winner ever. Every game has bad calls, you show me a game that was called to perfection. As long as it’s not a call that ends the game (ie. the Dallas/buffalo goal) then it’s fair game. Vegas needs to stop crying about a bad call, and they need to look in the mirror and see why they actually lost.

San Jose was gifted nothing, the loss was on Vegas. 5 minute majors are a thing, it happens. If you are the better team you fight through it and you kill the penalty, even if they let in 2 they are sitting pretty! You let in 4 goals, you can't blame the refs. If Vegas played even half ass D during that PK, then they win. Kudos to SJ for taking advantage. Saying SJ was gifted a win is like saying the Wings were gifted a win in '02 when Cloutier let in the Lidstrom goal. Its sports, stuff happen. The good teams take advantage of situations, the bad teams are taken advantage of.

For the record, the point of my post is not to bash Yzerman, HUGE props for what he did in TB. It was to show Dickie that what Holland did was not unheard of, and Yzerman does it to. I still stand by my point, Sure Stamkos, Hedman, and McDonagh are stars, but non star players that have NMC/NTC's given out by Yzerman include Palat, Johnson, Callahan, Killorn, Stralman, Coburn, and Girardi. Maybe outside of the first couple, far from star players.
