Way to early for a thread like this. If we were in March and the Wings were 10th seed and still playing this way, I would get it. Its fricken October 28th! I was at the game yesterday, and what I saw was a team that lacked chemistry. I cant tell you how many times a pass went through someone's skates, or over their stick, just missed the tape, a shot went wide, someone over skated a pass etc. They just seemed like they were not clicking. The good news, is this isn't a talent issue, its a chemistry issue. Its much easier to fix chemistry then talent. They are playing bad hockey though.

Its a respect thing. I would bet AA offered.

I'm not saying that there is no chance that the Jets will trade him. What I am saying is this is not NHL '16 where you can just force a trade. Two teams need to agree. Plus, if the Jets feel they are a playoff team, they may not want to give him up. You make it sound like all Holland has to do is send a trade offer and "boom" done deal. The real world doesn't work that way.
-
It takes two to tango. Just because you come up with an offer you feel is good, it doesn't mean Winnipeg would accept. For all we know that offer has been made and rejected.

The only thing that would have been better, is if in the middle of the last BJ's game, the light went out, music hit and Torts walked out with the announcers saying "Bahhh Godddd Its him, its him!!!"

Is Dylan Larkin a lock to stay in the NHL beyond 9-games?

You would give up Mantha for a rental? -

Same here! Why not, he currently sits #22 of of all skaters in yahoo. -
My guess is that they would put Andersson on waivers, however I think it would be more likely that by that time one of the players on our team go on IR. Almost every team in the NHL has someone injured.

Is Helm due back soon? If yes, I assume he just gets put into that roster spot.

http://www.tsn.ca/former-regulars-face-new-nhl-s-harsh-reality-1.373333 It makes sense. When you have certain guys like Toews & Kane just as an example making huge amounts of money, rather then paying a vet 2 or 3 mil a year, it's more affordable cap wise to play youth on an entry level or close to an entry level contract. I wonder if these guys held out at the beginning of UFA hoping to get paid more??

Exactly. If he came out publicly and started bashing the Wings I would get this reaction, but he has done and said nothing.

This is from the Detroit News.com. Detroit — Johan Franzen was a late scratch from Tuesday’s game because he wasn’t feeling well. Blashill said Franzen became ill after he went home at the conclusion of the morning skate. “When he went home today he didn’t feel good,” said Blashill, who didn’t have any information as to whether the illness had any link to the previous concussions Franzen had. Franzen suffered a concussion in January and didn’t play again the rest of last season. Franzen returned for training camp this season, and played four exhibition games and the first two regular season games. Landon Ferraro replaced Franzen in the lineup.

Man....calm down and please don't put words in my mouth. My post said NOTHING about "over ripening". I said that I would rather AA be playing first line minutes in GR, then 4th line minutes Detroit. You love the idea of putting every young kid on the main roster, go become an Oilers fan. Also, my last set of comments had NOTHING to do with Miller. Miller could go down with an injury and I would say the same thing. Just because everyone doesn't agree with your philosophy doesn't mean you need to have a tantrum.

I don't see why anything you just said, has anything to do with Cleary. Do you truly think that Holland spend all him time working on the Cleary contract, and as a result didn't focus on a trade? Do you think a team looking to trade a top 4 d-man were told Holland was busy, or that because of the Cleary contract, he didn't have time to do anything else. On July 1st, contracts are completed in essentially 1 day, sometimes hours. I am not an NHL GM, but I would have to guess that the Cleary contract effected nothing and took him no time at all. While I may not agree, if you have an issue with Holland not adding a second top 4 d-man this off season that is your prerogative. If you are trying to tell a narrative that Cleary has anything to do with it, that is ridicoulas.

I dont get why people even care about this. It doesn't effect the cap, and nobody on Detroit seems to care. Holland gave him a chance to make the team, he didnt. Whats the big deal???? Even if they pay him 950,000.....why do people care? If anything, this shows guy like Abby that if he is loyal to the Wings, they will be loyal back. Being loyal to a fault is not a bad reputation to have in today's NHL.

What worries me about that line, is I think it would do more damage to Athanasiou's development then good. I would much rather see him at this point in his career playing first line minutes in GR, then 4th line minutes in Detroit. If he was out of options that would be one thing, but we are not there yet.
-
6x$3.75-$4.25 is what I expect Holland to offer him.
-
That is the one downside of him playing great. The better he becomes, the less likely we are to keep him unless he takes a discount. Either way, got to root for him and hope for the best. I expect he will get an offer with a lower caphit (for his skillset), but alot of term.
-
I want to hear Franks take.
-
For whatever reason, people always dismiss this. I remember when Boychuk was traded, people were complaining that Holland should have made an offer, but unless your overpaying or the team giving up the star is years and years away from being anything significant, your not going to get a star player from a rival. I'm sure there is an outlier out there, but 99% of the time it wont happen.

You now what, I was actually mixing up Panik with Winnik....my bad. I have no clue how good Panik is. Glencross is 32.
-
If having too much talent is our GM's biggest flaw, consider yourself pretty damn lucky to be a Wings fan. As a Lions fan I know when a GM is not doing their job, Holland does not fall in that category.
-
Good Job Abby!
-
Not "loads" but Richard Panik? Not to mention people like Curtis Glencross are still available for nothing.
-
Most of the people thinking he is not worth the maximum has NOTHING to do with their opinion of his talents, its because of the cap and the difficulty to put together 4 good lines when paying certain players the max. If Stamkos wants to put himself in a situation where he has a high probability of winning a cup, he wont ask for the max. If he just wants as much money as possible, he will probably land on an average team.
