I don't think you could have said he would have easily gotten anything until 2015/16 played out. Cody Franson is the perfect example of this, before he was traded to Nashville people that he was guaranteed a big pay day, but due to a slip in play (and possibly greed) he was paid a lot less then people thought. Plus you never know when an injury is around the corner. Not that Frason is at Seabrook's level, but I think my point is made. Smart signing on Seabrook's side, this pretty much takes care of him the rest of the career. Smart move on the Blackhawks end in the short term, possibly crippling move in the long term. The Blackhawks have Philadelphia Phillie's written all over them which doesn't bother me one bit. I will say though, if Seabrook can pull a Lidstrom and keep his level of play where it is up to his late 30's....great signing on Chicago's end! I wonder if this is a sign that they may consider getting rid of Kane?

One of two things is happening right now. 1. Kane did it, and the Mother being a Mother is scared that Kane is going to be found innocent due to the rape kit findings, and as a result she is going to extreme's to get justice. 2. Kane did not do it, and the Mother/Daughter are trying to pull a fast one. Which of these is it...I have no clue and I don't want to speculate. All I can hope for is that the truth is found regardless of what it is.

As a person of 100% Slovak decent, this really bothers me (not your post, the setup of the tourney). For years Slovakia has had to deal with not being respected in international play as a top team, even after almost eliminating Canada back in 2010. They deserve their own team.

I think it many situations people and/or businesses donate because it does make them feel good AND it's good PR. I don't think its one or the other. I also don't think that if PR is partially on their mind it takes away from the act or diminishes anything. I think the stigma comes from a perception that rich people JUST donate for PR and don't give a crap about the cause which I'm sure is the case sometimes, but not all the time. When you donate 10million, you deserve praise.

Agreed, plus in todays day and age if someone donates 10million, I feel like the word will somehow get out. I dont think PK did this for PR purposes, he could have donated 5million and received the same about of fan fair.

My bad Frank, I thought when you said "meh" you were referring to voiding Kane's contract. I completely agree with you about Seabrook, I think he and Keith are the reasons why Chicago is what they are, more so then Toews who gets all the credit.

Not a "meh" move lol. If he goes to prison, they lose him anyways and by doing it they would save 10.5 mil in cap space for the next 8 years. Plus, who wants a convicted rapist on their team anyways. (this post is all assuming he is convicted and did do it)

If I guess that pretty much depends on the Kane case. If he is guilty and get jail time, I'm guessing they can pull a Richards and void his contract. Then they should be fine.

I'd say getting the #2 spot in our division (TB getting #1), and getting to the 2nd or 3rd round would be my expectation for this team. Unlike last year, this is a year where I believe our ceiling and floor are quite a ways apart. I think last year I said I saw them getting between #5 seed and #7 seed and they got #6. This year is different, I see our ceiling being #1 in the conference as if the kids keep getting better, our vets don't take a decline, we stay healthy, our goalies play like they are capable, and they take to Blashill, the Wings will be a force. Though it will be hard to get more points then the NYR if they also stay healthy. Our floor is we don't make the playoffs, the reason why I say that is because of Blashill. With Babcock we had a constant, we knew what we were going to get. With Blashill he could take our guys to the next level, or he could just not click with the team, it happens all the time with coaches. What makes me feel alot better is that he has already coached and won with 75% of our roster, so I really doubt that will happen, but I cant be naive enough to think its impossible. My prediction though is #2 in our division, a first round win against Montreal, second round win against TB, a third round loss to the NYR.

Cleary is going to do 1 of 2 things this year. 1. Sit in the press box as a healthy scratch 2. Take the spot of the worst player on our AHL team I'm sorry, but I dont see either of these 2 things being an issue. I would rather see Cleary sit in the press box then one of our kids who have upside. I dont get why "blame" needs to be handed out here.

Agreed. To me its more about the guy having a love for the game and just wanting to play. I feel bad for him, if he just signed the 3 year deal back in 2013 nobody would even be talking about him. Since he has signed three "1 year" deals he has become vilified by some which is sad.

Right Frank, I am the one creating a narrative. I agree that Kopitar is another level of free agent, but those types of players don't become UFA's anymore. As far as free agents go now a days, all the guys I named were considered top free agents in their respective UFA years. On July 1st, 2015 tsn had Mike Green ranked as their #1 UFA (I cant remember what they had Richards). YOU wanting Franson over Green doesn't change anything. Richards and Alfie may have been past their prime, but you cant deny they are big names. I 100% admit, that these guys being top UFA's is a reflection of how bad the UFA classes have gotten, but based on what is available they are top UFA's. In 2014, Paul Stasny was considered the #1 guy, that right there speaks volumes. Just stop with the "nobody wants to come here" bit. I think we could afford it to. We only have 3 major RFA's (DD, Mrazek, Sheahan), and potentially we have Helm, Abby, Richards, Miller, Cleary, Andersson, and Quincey coming off the books (about 15million). If Mrazek proves he can be the guy, we also always have trading Howard option as well, would would clear another 5.5 million.

Yes Frank, we all know your anti home town discount stance. EVERY contract negotiation that takes place you talk about it. Also, you realize that in a cap system, the more money that guys like Stamkos, Toes, Kopitar etc. take, the less that goes to the guys that you call "the hero's of hockey".

I'm interested (depending on the categories, rules etc.) and I have 3 other people interested as well. We usually just join a public league, but I hate it because when you that there are always about 3-4 other teams that are inactive.
