The headline says "MacKenzie Weeger gets revenge on Paul Byron", so I'm truthfully asking what this "revenge" was for. I'm not saying anything was or was not dirty.

If you are in "win now" mode, sure. When you are a re-building team, to blindly fire a coach simply based on the playoffs is just silly. For the record, I'm not even saying that I want Blashill, truly I'm undecided, but making/not making the playoffs has nothing to do with it. I dont think many fans mind this. What most fans hate is mediocrity and being stuck in the 15th - 20th best range. At least as a bottom 5 team we will land some building blocks.

Completely agree. Had we kept the pick that year, the more realistic pick would have been Olli Maatta anyways. Wings weren't taking a goaltender with Jimmy being in his 20's at that point.

Completely forgot about Filip Larsson! He seems to playing great in Denver this year.

Its so hard to tell when it comes to goalies, the 3 main goalies in the system are Rybar, Fulcher, and Petruzzelli. Personally I have always been high on Petruzzelli, in 2017 many were calling him the steal of the draft. Rybar is playing great in GR this season, came into the year as the backup and has outplayed Sateri, pretty sure he is now the starter. Not too sure about Kaden Fulcher, I dont really follow the ECHL that closely, his stats look poor, but I dont know what is good for that league. My guess is that Rybar gets a look next year, and gets a chance full time with the Wings in 20/21. Overall I love the signing, 1 year 4 mil is perfect for a goalie like Howard. Really wish we didnt sign Bernier though.

Normally I would say the fans are being assholes, but I completely understand the anger of the fans. There is nothing worse then loosing a star player for zero assets WHILE not making the playoffs. Many players leave after a playoff run, and many players are traded when their team doesnt make it, but this is very unique. They easily could have landed a 1st rounder+ for him.

I snagged him on my fantasy team in round 17, and hes been one of my best players.

Just goes to show you, you never know who the stud of a draft is going to be. All the talk at the time was Patrick and Hischier, yet Pettersson ended up being the true get (at least so far).

Have to side with @kickazz, Chara was having his way with him just like he does with everyone else when he fights. Whenever Chara fights he just seems like he is going at 50%, yet he still looks like a professional fighter going against amateurs.

I always felt bad for Nyquist and Tatar that this pressure was put on them. They were/are good players, players that far exceeded the normal expectations of a 2nd and 4th round pick. Especially after Nyquist's first semi full season, people just expected too much out of them and made them scapegoats for the teams decline.

Happy with the deal. Its nothing to be ecstatic about, but I wasn't expecting anything more then a 2nd for Nyquist as deep down I always thought a 1st was wishful thinking. Hopefully he goes and wins a cup in San Jose, then re-signs with us in the off-season to a reasonable contract. I love the chemistry he and Larkin have together and would like to see it continue.

This is what I found about Justin Schultz from 2012, I'm pretty sure its 4 years as he was drafted in 2008.
