Oh 100%......but he wanted to be paid like a top pairing guy and wasnt close to that. As a 5th or 6th D-man back then, I would have loved to have him.
-
Agreed. This I can't remember, being there gives you a unique perspective but things like an offside can be so easily missed when you eyes wander (ie. a tussle is going on away from the puck) and with no replay you won't even notice it.

Hard to believe only 2 years ago rumors were that he was asking for 6mil a year, now he is accepting PTO's. Had he signed a reasonable contract when FA started in 2015 he would likely be 3 years into a 4 or 5 year deal right now. Either him or his agent really screwed up. If I remember correctly, he wanted big money (ie. 6mil per year), nobody signed him and then he settled in Aug or Sept for 2 years @ 3.3 mil a year in Buffalo. Maybe Tatar can read this and see how holding out if you are an above average player can really bite you in the ass. http://www.tsn.ca/report-franson-may-join-blackhawks-on-pto-1.806527

To be fair though, Weiss was coming off a wrist injury when we signed him and was a low end 1C. Nobody could have predicted he was about to suffer injuries to his abdominal that would eliminate his ability to even be a top 9 forward.

Thank you for giving me their draft history lol. With this ridiculous logic you don't trade Zach Bogosian (3rd overall in the 2008 draft) for Johnny Gaudreau (104th overall 2011 draft). You really don't understand the value of an expiring contract do you? With this, and all your kicking and screaming about Smith at the deadline, it makes sense.
-
Good question......if he is 100% leaving and is set on becoming a UFA, I think the potential return is limited. The could definitely get a 1st round pick, but it would be a lower end pick. I would obviously shop him around and try to use that as my base offer, but if nothing better came along and we was going to leave, I think I would do it.
-
What if JT has already told them is leaving at the end of the year?
-
I dont know.....I was at game 7, and we just looked like a team that was worn down. Pittsburgh was definitely playing harder.
-
Makes sense......they most likely want the kid to actually play rather then sit on the bench in the AHL.

IF and this is a big IF, the Datsyuk trade turns into an elite D-man (Chowolski), and a top 4 D-Man (Hronek), AND Chychrun fizzles out, this could end up being one of the best trades in Wings history. Now I do not think all 3 of those things will happen, but if they did that would be something.
-
Those top 3 are important for us! We all know we need help on the blue line.
-
Not sure why I wrote that twice, but anyways. His comment was directed at the board, not Red Wings management.
-
Different position, UFA vs RFA, nobody actually said it. So many things wrong with his statement lol.

Can you quote the person who said Nielsen who said Nielsen's contract is a good one?

@shocky2002 fails to realize that great teams usually have great possession numbers because they are great, as what he incorrectly believes is that great possession numbers means you are a great team which is obviously not the case. He is obsessed with possession, and that year I believe we ranked 1st, hence "we dominated".

They are from the East, Prešov and Bardejov specifically.

It's not that I was "shocked" that we didnt win the cup, what shocked me was getting swept by a 7th seed team in the first round.
-
Every report I have read simply says "shoulder surgery". So who knows.
-
6 million........yikes, probably not.

I see your argument, and I dont think you are wrong, but it all depends on what your alternatives are. If you are paid less then co-workers who are less deserving, but still paid more then you would be paid somewhere else, you suck it up as in the end, its what's best for you. Anything else just means you are letting ego get in the way. Now, if your employer is paying you less then co-workers who are less deserving AND another company offers you more, ya then you leave if all other things are equal. Either way, even at 5mil Tatar is still getting paid more then Abby and Helm, so salary is not really a comparable. The comparable is more so the term, and I can see why Tatar wants a contract similar in term to someone like Helm. But like said above, he is an RFA, mind you an RFA with 1 year left which does give him leverage, but its not the exact same as Helm/Abby. Also, we dont know what players in the room think of Helm/Abby. Just because some fans may not like those contracts, doesnt mean the players think the same. Either way, I say trade him. Not because I am mad at him, but because i think this is the best move for us. We are going to need cap space next year to re-sign Larkin and Mantha, and even more so if Holland wants to make a play for JT. I said pay him earlier, but the more I think about it, it makes me nervous signing a guy to that big of a contract coming off a shoulder surgery. He loses his shot, he is worthless as a player.

I don't live in Slovakia, but all 4 of my grandparents are from there and I have been there multiple times. I would agree with the notion that Slovaks tend to be blunt lol.

I have to say, I think this "attitude" problem is being overblown. The guy wants a long term deal, it's not like he is saying "I just want to sign for one year, and be out of the s*** hole of a city". He is saying he wants to be here long term. If you just watched guys like Abby and Helm get their deals and you could score 20 goals in a season, would you not also want that? Sure they were UFA's, but final year of being an RFA is somewhat comparable. Tatar has all the leverage here and I hope we sign him OR trade him for a top D-man. You need to score in the NHL, and Tatar is the best player we have at that and is still young. Lets trade him, AA, and a pick for Trouba! Hey I can dream lol. We need cap room......Holland, start working the phones.

Agreed, but if we are talking about how I felt in the moment, the Anaheim series was the most I have ever been shocked. BS equipment aside, that run by Giggy was probably the most impressive in NHL history. Ya that was the year we set the record for most wins in the regular season, and were coming off the finals. I thought we would beat Colorado that year and win the cup. That one hurt.
-
That was my vote. Not only did we lose first round to a low seed, but it was the sweep that made it shocking.

Red Wings sign D Trevor Daley to 3 year, 3.166m/yr contract, includes NTC/Modified NTC.
