I doubt the majority of the fans here truly know who the best player available is as I doubt they have seen any of them play. I am not saying the was a good or bad pick, I admittedly dont know. I have seen Vilardi play in person living in Windsor (to be honest he didnt stick out), but other then him I dont know much about these kids. You can say we should have taken a project, a counter to that would be Holland needs to stop playing it so safe. I guess my point is that we need to wait before we form such strong opinions. My comment that you quoted was more so geared towards people mocking him because of his size which is ironic because the biggest jab that the Wings get in terms of drafting is that they only take "small euros". No, I admit I dont have a clue about half these guys.

It is pretty funny, we draft small and the narrative becomes "another small euro, come on Holland our team is so easy to push around!!!" We draft big and the narrative becomes "Oh thats just GREEEEAT, he has to be good because he's is big. Holland you jackass". There really is no pleasing the fans.

You are right, it all depends on the offer. If I am an expansion team though, I am only making that trade if I am receiving the best player in the trade. I would'd trade for quantity if I am LV. I hope they do it though lol.

Just because he doesn't get "wins" or his plays don't lead to "goals" or his d doesn't "stop pucks from going to the net" and his goalies don't "make saves" doesn't mean he is a bad coach.

If Theodore is as good as what everyone here is saying, I see no reason for LV to trade him. He sounds like the type of kid you build a franchise around.

Would trading AA for McDavid be a bad move? Nope! Would trading AA for Ben Smith be a good move? Nope! Why am I giving two extremes? Because I am trying to make the point that saying "trading player X is a mistake" is 100% an incorrect/emotion based statement. You cannot say if trading a player is a mistake until you know what the return is, and unless you are the best player in the NHL, there is always someone out there better then you that would be worth the return. I dont "want" to trade AA, but if he has value it would be dumb not to see what he brings us back in return.

Agreed. Nobody gets close to what Vladdy gets, not even Stevie. I was there in person for that, so I can say that with 100% certainty.

Their problem is going to be similar to ours, they have depth but no elite talent. But they are building, so any elite talent they get will be through the draft anyways, Agreed its going to be interesting.

What I actually said was this. Your edit makes it sound like I am putting Hossa down which I am not. We are talking Hall of Fame here, so my point was that he was a top player, but one thing against him was that was never in a single year "the best" or even "one of the best". He was always very very good. Either way, if I am voting I say he gets in.
