The insinuation was pretty clear, you said: "there's no doubt who the better GM is. When Holland started his GM career, he had an unlimited cap and a tremendous roster to start with. The Cups came naturally" This is essentially your way of negating Holland's cup wins. Nobody is saying he would walk away, I dont even think you are allowed to do that. Both Yzerman and Holland have their contracts ending in 2018, the thought of some is that Holland would take a role else where with the team (ie. president) allowing Yzerman to come in and become the new GM.

I think I would prefer next season. With them already wearing the "9" as a tribute to Howe I wouldn't want one to trump the other. Make the entire next season a tribute to him.
-
Lets just say for conversation sake Holland had nothing to do with 98 and 02, what is your reason to discredit him for 2008? At the end of the day Yzerman has not won a cup, I dont see how you can say he is clearly the better GM. I do think that Yzerman has made better moves in that past few years and appears to understand the cap better then Holland and yes, in 2018 if I had to choose I would choose Yzerman, but you are making it sound like Yzerman has had a better career as a GM then Holland which is a joke.

I have tickets to the Wings/Blues game on Wednesday, and I just realized that it is their next home game. I'm sure they will do some type of tribute for him, he definitely deserves it.

In 2014 he signed a 4 year extension. So assuming in 2010 he also signed a 4 year deal, then 2018 he becomes available which I'm pretty sure is the same year Holland's contract as GM is done. https://www.nhl.com/lightning/news/lightning-sign-vp-and-general-manager-steve-yzerman-to-four-year-contract-extension/c-713290

Who thinks this? A false perception has been created that if you dont turn on Holland and think everything he does is garbage that you are a "Holland apologist" or "a Holland faithful". The funny thing about of the situation, is that majority that are not anti Holland are open to looking at the good and bad that he has done, it's the anti Holland crowd that have their judgement clouded and look at this with a perspective that is very one dimensional. Hyperbole or bust!

Nothing. He has made "good moves" just as GMRwings said above, but I would agree that he has not done anything great. He walked into a situation where he had two corner stone pieces in Stamkos & Hedman, made some good moves, had some good drafts, but because he's Steve Yzerman people glorify him and make it sound like he reinvented the wheel. Take his exact team, and take away Stamkos and Hedman, and people could say the same thing about them that they do about us, a lot of middle of the road talent. Just like if you took our team and added Stamkos and Hedman, we look great. Its a league of parity and people dont get that. With that being said, he still did make those moves, and I am not going to take any accomplishments away from him, I just am not going to put him on a pedestal. The reason why I would like Yzerman here is because he appears to be a GM who keeps getting better, and I would selfishly like to see him back in the organization as he was my favourite player growing up (bias admitted). This year is not a good year for TB, but to be fair he has had a lot of injuries, and like I said above, this is a league of parity where a couple of hurt players can be the difference between getting to the finals and not making the playoffs.

Holland going to Toronto would just piss me off, losing to Babs to them was bad enough. In a perfect world, Holland steps down after his contract expires and Yzerman comes to town, but I dont see that happening. Out of curiosity, what would Holland have to do to gain your respect asides from quitting, I mean on the job?

They were just talking about the name on the radio. They were saying how they are not going to change it, because that is not what Mike Ilitch wanted. The said (Dan Leach and Dennis Fithian) that wanted the arena named after the company he personally built from scratch. I didnt love the name, but if that's what he wanted, who am I to say otherwise.

Jonathan Ericsson out with fractured wrist, no timetable for return.

Completely agree. I am all for playing the kids, but you dont want to have all kids. That is when you run into trouble. -
Mike Illitch is the main person responsible for some of the greatest memories of my childhood. Thank you Mike for everything you did for the Red Wings, you will be missed, but never forgotten.

Ya okay, if it were Mrazek you would be going nuts if he said those things. -

Defending one's actions by saying "other people are worse" is not a good defense. -

I guess I have higher standards for the posters on LGW.com then the majority of idiots on social media. -
The Patriots are what they are because they have arguably the best coach ad QB of all time. Surround that with talent and you are pretty much guaranteed success.

Completely agree with Dickie and CRL, cheering an injury is pretty low. Nobody is arguing that opportunities don't come from injuries, what we are arguing is the class of making statements like "Good news- E has fractured wrist" and "Wings twitter just tweeted it. Best thing tonight!" -
I asked you before, you never answered....source?

I always park at the lot a block away from cobo. It's $10 and a 1min walk from cobo. i prefer it over cobo as I have gotten stuck in cobo for over 30min before, in this lot you will be out in 30seconds. You just then cut through cobo like left suggested.

With the exception of the Illitch's it is a completely different group of people.

Everyone is an expert after the fact.

Ya you have to give them credit for that, they are not an organization that airs dirty laundry. You really never hear about things like that.

No....from what I read he suffered a severe sprain. A surgery would fix a tear, but there is nothing you can do to a sprain as far as I know. What he needs to do is to rest. Most likely he came back to quickly.

HAHA! That is literally the exact clip I had in my head!
