There is absolutely zero basis to that statement. You dont want your top players fighting, because fighting increases a players chances of being injured significantly. There is no debate there.

Because of the risk of concussion and broken hand/fingers.

Yes I do. Not elite players, but this system is set up so LV will get good players.

Take McDavid off this team, then you also loose Lucic, and who know's who else. You can say the 80's players being removed played a huge part, and they may have but and the end of the day put McDavid on any NHL team and they will significantly go up a few notches.

You think that a 29 year old Cam Talbot is a better fit for a re-build then 24 year old Peter Mrazek? Come on Frank, I dont believe that you think this. I get it, Howard "haters" are way to hard on Howard and they do tend to put Mrazek on a pedestal, and yes Mrazek has played like crap this year, but Mrazek has a high ceiling and to give up on him at 24 due to consistency issues (something most young goalies deal with) is a bad move. I'm also not ready to throw him under the bus because of a magazine article in a different language.

I hope this situation along with the situation the Oilers were in pre McDavid shows people how just getting a few top 5 picks guarantees nothing. The key is acquiring young top talent, molding said talent, and then finding the right mix of kids/vets to get you to that next level. With the exception of the one year Roy won Coach of the Year, this organization has been a joke for a while now.

I agree with you on the Howard thing as well, I hate the way some treat him around here. Howard is one of my favourite players in the league. I think I even mentioned that when I go to games Howard is the name on the back of my jersey. But, if we are re-building, it makes more sense to see what's there with Mrazek. Inconsistency is a conman trait among young goalies as even the best of the best (Carey Price) had these types of issues when first coming onto the scene. I am not one for just handing Peter starts, but ultimately he is the one who is starting in a perfect world.

If we were a contender, this would make perfect sense. But, don't you believe we need to re-build/tank/scortch earth? If yes, doesnt it make more sense to play the 24 year old then the 32 year old?

Not 100% sure if this is true or not, but I read that Marchenko and Leafs D-man Nikita Zaitsev were paired together at the world cup. Maybe Babs wants these two back together.

Sproul is a right handed shot, and has offensive upside which is something we do not have a lot of in our system. He likely has a ceiling of top 4. Marchenko is an ok defensive d-man with no offensive upside and likely has a ceiling of top 6. I'm not obsessed with Sproul, I just see something in him that I don't see in many others in our system.

I would like to see Mrazek get more starts, but I'm not a fan of entitlement. Kid needs to earn it, and if he plays moving forward like he did tonight, that will happen.

Here is a question....could a team do this? Anaheim trades Fowler to Detroit for a 2nd round pick, Detroit protects Fowler, then Detroit trades Fowler back to Anaheim with E for a 2nd round pick? Anaheim is able to protect Fowler, Detroit is able to dump a contract. I'm just using E as an example, I have no idea if that would work cap wise, I'm just curious if a move like this could be pulled off or if it would be considered collusion.

A person not being fired does not mean that things have not been addressed. Either way, that's not what you said. You said that if your supervisor made a mistake, his boss would chew him out, you never said fired. When I bring up the fact that none of us know what goes on behind closed doors, you are change your argument. Long story short, I think you bring up a lot of good points Dickie, but when it comes to Blashill you go WAYYY over the top likely due to emotion, and a person can't debate with emotion. It's no different then the Helm/Abby contracts, because you didn't like their contracts, you are no longer fair when critiquing anything about them.

How do you know what goes on behind closed doors? All we know is if the coach is fired or not fired. What is said between those two is not something any of use know, so lets not pretend to be insiders.

I obviously wish we could have gotten something for him, but sometimes value isn't there. I knew if he got claimed people here would go nuts. But if Frk and Pulk tought us anything, it's that some players just don't have value. I really don't think marchenko gets us anything. I know those who hate holland will use anything as a reason to complain about him, but lets face it, any other GM makes this moves and nobody gives a s***.
