Does this mean the GM should be fired? Shouldn't he have gotten a pick for him? I hope now that pretty much every play we lost on waivers got put back on them, people realize that very low end players have no trade value.
-
Its all about probability. The probability of Trouba becoming a 1A d-man is much higher then a top 5 pick being a 1A d-man. Unless we are talking a can't miss like an Ekblad, I take Trouba every time.

I agree with Green, Vanek, Smith Howard, and of course E (will never happen though), but you don't want to trade every vet away as that can lead to issues with the development of the kids (see Oilers pre McDavid). Even the Leafs who do seem to be headed in the right direction kept Komorov, Kadri, JVR, Bozak and Polak (re-acquired him). If we keep Z, one of Tats/Nyquist, Abby, Helm, and Kronwall I think that gives the kids some much needed leadership in the room. Depending on who is available when we pick I like your trade idea. Trading for a guy like Trouba or Hamilton essentially gives us a 1A d-man. Going through the draft for a d-man is like playing the lottery, so many first rounders become busts. Depending on how bad we finish, our first rounder will have value.

Tatar interviewed in Slovak news: About team's start, his shoulder, and trade rumors
kliq replied to Juklitz's topic in General
There is some truth to this lol. I can tell you this having visited Slovakia 4 times and having a ton family who immigrated here from Slovakia. -
I'm a fan of Sproul, and Coreau has played decently, but those two are far from untouchable. I wouldn't trade our Mantha, AA, or Larkin for picks as that just seems stupid given the likelihood of the pick being a better player player, I would only consider trading one of them for a #1 d-man which would be very hard to pull off. DD I would prefer not to trade as I think he is a very good top 4 (not top 2) d-man. Mrazek I would hold on to due the ceiling and the fact that his value is so low right now, Coreau and Sproul I would trade for the right player. If AA got us a player like Trouba, OEL etc. sure I agree, but I hope you dont want to trade our really young guys for picks.

More hyperbole. No doubt he failed with Suter, but the Wings have landed top UFA's almost every year. Now if you want to argue the results of those signings, that is a different story. But if we are talking their ability to land players they want, they have. Weak UFA classes and poor results from the players signed have been their problem.

What elite actually means is "a select part of a group that is superior to the rest in terms of ability or qualities." So that essentially means the best of the best. I think that Tyler Seguin fits that definition and is an elite level talent, and if Kip thinks that AA has a Seguin level ceiling, I think he is using the word in the proper context.

Wow! Talk about a stretch lol. So now ice time is managements fault? Didnt know Holland was telling Blashill what lines to use and when to play people during the game. As far as Blashill goes, I think he should be fired and I am not defending him if you are implying he is management (which he is not). I will call out hyperbole when I see it, and the majority of your posts are hyperbole. They won 4-0, relax.
-
AA had 14:44 of ice time, Nyquist had 15:42, Nyquist played 58 seconds more. You make it sound like one played 16min while the other played 5. When you take into account real life game consequences (ie. A guy gets hit and takes a shift off etc) and the fact that they won 4-0 so Blashill easily could have been giving guys like Nielsen and Vanek rest, the ice time seems fine to me. Saying it "sucked" seems a bit over the top.
-
When Helm is back, I would rather put the Nyquist-Helm Vanek line back together. Those 3 had excellent chemistry for a 3rd line. Sheahan I agree with.

All it takes is 1 NHL team to be interested. After David Clarkson was traded my eyes were opened up to the idea that anyone can be traded.
-
They definitely lit a fire under his ass, couldn't be happier with the way that all played out.
-
You cant protect both Mrazek and Coreau, they will have to risk losing one of them.
-
Not looking good. They are down 4-0 going into the 3rd.
-
I had a feeling. Even though some fans like to think they know everything, there is an entire world that we all know nothing about.
-
I wonder if the fan bases of the teams that lost those players are demanding their GM be fired because they lost them for nothing.
-
What was your issue with Holland in 2008?
-
I have to say, this thread is interesting to read with hindsight now being 20/20.
-
That argument doesn't hold up though when Mrazek is putting up some of the worst numbers in the league while Howard's numbers are vezina like. If all the goalies on the Wings numbers were junk, then it would be a different story.
-
Now it sounds to me like you are complaining about roster construction, that you can blame on Holland if you are unhappy about it. Lack of motivation from the players though, that is a coaching issue. Blashill isnt a "scapegoat", Blashill is doing a bad job. Do you watch the games?
-
I have to disagree Frank, getting your players to buy in and play for you is one of the most important aspects of coaching. You can't blame players playing with zero heart on Holland.
-
I would have to think that he will be taking the "Holmstrom role" which actually makes that more likely then some may think. It would be funny lol.
-
No doubt that eliminating the tie is a big factor in records like this being broken. Its no different then the record we set a few years back for home wins in a row.
-
Bias aside, if Holland retired in 2012, do you truly believe a new GM would have been given the green light by Ilitch to clean house?
