If we are just talking best Wing and not best player, I'd be curious to see if there is a generational difference with the older fans leaning toward Stevie and the younger fans leaning toward Lids. I was talking to my 11 year old cousin about Stevie and growing up watching him and my cousin just couldn't fathom that anyone could be a more important Wing than Lids.

I totally agree with this. On pure hockey ability and skill, Lidstrom comes out on top. But the best Wing? Yzerman showed up for this team in any manner that they needed him consistently and reliably for over twenty years. Lidstrom was a great leader, but Stevie was The Captain. Love them both, and am honored that I got to grow up watching them play for my team.

LOL around here (aka in our house) we say as useless as t*ts on a shovel. Which, I agree, is what the all star break is if we can salvage a complete season without it.

Oh GOD I'm trying so hard not to get my hopes up, but I will freely admit to getting butterflies in my belly when I saw all those tweets flying around. GREAT move in the right direction, don't think this will be the end of negotiations but it's a huge step forward. Maybe the focus groups opened the league's eyes to how much they were despised by the majority of the fans and made them realize they needed to be the ones to initiate the concessions. Think you have me confused with Toots haters. I'm glad we got the guy, but I also live with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek 90% of the time. The tweets I posted were days apart, and after reading the first one a couple days ago I couldn't help but laugh a little bitterly when I read the viper tweet today. Unlike some I wouldn't be following the guy (and his multiple charities, btw) on twitter if I thought he was a prick. And for your information, I care about a lot of things other than my "longing for hockey." Apparently the post got under your skin, I get it, but I don't appreciate the character attack.

I do not look forward to taking a cruise on and/or swimming in an ocean of butthurt, thank you very much. But I fear your point is correct. No matter who steps into that role, there are going to be decisions that are made that we the fans don't agree with. However, I do think that having someone as commissioner who has a passion for the sport and an understanding of what makes it great will make a difference. How much of a difference? TBD... But I really do hate Bettman with a fiery passion.
