Hockey? On ESPN? Now that's a blast from the past! I actually used to hate when the games were aired on ESPN because I couldn't get my Ken and Mickey fix...wasn't it on UPN50 back then? God I'm getting old!

I agree, bring in the mediator now. Both sides are beyond negotiating in good faith. They continue to throw around rhetoric about "compromise," but news flash: it takes BOTH sides being willing to "compromise" in order to "compromise." This is a joke. If I wanted to watch a **** swinging contest between three year olds I'd go work at a daycare. Edited: Granted it would have to be a really poorly run and unsupervised daycare, but whatever.

I'm trying not to be too optimistic, but with them meeting today and more meetings scheduled for tomorrow it gives me hope that they're at least giving this more immediacy than the last lockout...I just want everything settled so I can get my giggle back (Thumb Wars fans...anyone?)

I was just coming here to post this. Does anyone remember/have a cite for how much revenue the city of Detroit lost during the last lockout? I remember it was bad. I love the city so much, and it breaks my heart to think of all the "little people" that are affected by the lockout.

This is what I don't understand--the players don't stand to make any more money with or without the classic! Why should they care, other than for the fans, which its already been made painfully obvious that no one gives a s*** about? The league stands to make a fortune. I don't imagine Mr. I is too pleased with this decision, given the money it will bring into the city... -
@DarrenDreger: Sounds like the Red Wings fine for Jimmy D's comments is in the neighborhood of $250,000. Ouch.

So much for my excitement about actually getting tickets. This whole things sucks. I would think the league would want to do everything in their power to make sure the Classic happens, given that they will be making asstruckloads of money. They're shooting themselves in the foot, and shooting all of us in the face. -
