Late to the Smith discussion, but god damn. My issue with Smitty has nothing to do with his physical ability and everything to do with his uncanny ability to brain shart at the most conveniently inconvenient times. This kid's mind is his worst asset. If he could get out of his own way mentally I think we would see a more complete player, and I wouldn't be so nervous to have him anywhere near the PP.

I've always had mixed feelings about Cotsonika. I feel like as a "hometown boy" who got his start on Michigan sports, he's always kind of gone out of his way to be "dickish" toward the Wings especially. YMMV. -
Things also tend to get disgusting for the victim in these situations, so while I don't *agree* with her settling if Kane is in fact guilty, I certainly *understand* it.

The American justice system is fascinating. Having had the opportunity to serve on a jury for a violent crime, it was truly eye opening to me to see how intensely people's personal experiences affected how they not only viewed the victims and alleged perpetrator, but how they interpreted *facts*. Jury selection is an art AND science, man. It will be crucial in this case.

With the timeline of "weeks or months" given in that link, I don't think the league has any choice but to suspend him until this is resolved one way or another. This is not a good situation.

Fun BoS fact: I reread Dr. Zhivago every summer, because all the winter imagery cools me down. Best English translation of a foreign language book ever, in my opinion. The fact that there aren't more versions is a testament to that fact.
