That's kind of the point I was trying to make--there have been some comparisons in this thread like "well, Heatley didn't get xyz punishment so why should Voynov?" Heatley's punishment is irrelevant, and should have absolutely no bearing on Voynov's punishment. The two offenses are unrelated, and just because some here dont think Heatley got punished enough that should have nothing to do with Voynov not getting an appropriate punishment if gound guilty.

Eeehhhhh...call me kooky, but I really don't like the Heatley/Voynov comparison guys. Tragic consequences result when you make the extremely irresponsible decision to drive dangerously. Heatley did not consider the consequences, and someone died. Choosing to (allegedly) *beat the s**** out of someone you love is not "irresponsible." As a woman, to be honest it is frightening that some people don't see this difference. It was not an "oops, sorry, you accidentally ran into my fist lol." What Heatley did was a tragic accident. He did not set out to intentionally murder his friend. Voynov did not "accidentally" abuse his girlfriend. If guilty, he knew *exactly* what he was doing, and it was his intention to do so. While both scenarios had tragic consequences, the similarities for me end right there.
