Smith has had great rushes, hits and plays so it's easy to think of him as a great talent but those are few and far between. Like weeks apart. I'll never forgive him for our last game against Boston when Marchand was exiting his zone with his head down and Smith was about to lay him out, perfectly reading the play but ended up on his ass while Marchand still maintained control of the puck, even though Marchand didn't even see Smith. It made me embarrassed of my team. This is Smith in a nutshell. Can never put it all together

Weiss doesn't deserve more than 10 minutes a game imo. He's been a passenger since returning from injury. Not engaged at all. Looks like the hobbled player we had last year. He's getting PP time and sheltered minutes, this should be good for him. Bad feeling about tonight's game. Lines are trash. Expect a lot of ridiculous line juggling

Maybe so when we offer teams Helm they won't be like why would we want Helm when we can have Sheahan... after all, Sheahan's just a fourth liner. Very strange, I though Babs loved Sheahan. Maybe showcasing Andersson? I can't see Babs ever using a less effective lineup just for these reasons

I said this because people think Smith should be playing with Kronwall and get PP minutes. Smith gets the easiest match ups night in night out and is still inconsistent. Him just playing "solid" on the third pairing is not good enough for a big promotion, especially since he doesn't score or create a lot of offensive chances, and he's not even "solid" night in night out yet. I don't think Smith sucks at all but he is more often than not, our 5th best defensemen. I want to see him step up his role on this team as well but let's not jump the gun

what? we have to have more goals than that. Miller has 2 and Glendening has 3 and Andersson has 1 and Jurco must have scored while on the 4th

Petry would be great for depth at least. Petry>Smith.... more offensive minded and RH'd. Takes Smith's spot and makes us a lot better. I don't hate Smith or nothing but this makes us a better team. Smith+Mid level prospect/pick for Petry Ericsson-Kronwall Dekeseyer-Quincey Petry-Ouellette Try packaging Ericsson+Helm for a good top 4. Hopeful wishing

Lmao so Smith is the 2nd best defensemen on this team suddenly? He was a hot turd last night, all well having an easy matchup and not contributing any offensive chances at all. You gotta give E and Kronwall some slack sometimes. They have the toughest matchups and play the most minutes night in night out. Smith's idea of good games are when he isn't getting beat all night and stacking up minuses against weak matchups, all while not scoring mind you. So yeah, he's not exactly ready to be our go to guy on the top pairing. He's not even ready for a top 4 role consistently

Franzen could stand to drop some weight since he doesn't utilize his size at all. I really think his apparent compete level is because of his poor conditioning. He used to be a bully in front of the net and scooped up a lot of garbage goals but he has shied away from that so he better start skating

They played really well after giving up that power play goal. Almost 17 minutes of lockdown hockey where Blues never really got anything and we seen playoff Helm just owning the puck. Shame we gave up the late one on a breakdown at the blue line. I was really disappointed in Z all game but of course he comes up huge on the game winner where he owned the puck and kept the play alive (or was that the play before the goal?) either way, typical captain shift in a big moment.

Yandle is too expensive and not right handed. I'd rather get Petry for cheap, unless we can package our roster d men and save pretty much everyone valuable on the offensive side. At this point I'd only like to see Weiss, Franzen and maaaaybe Helm moved out of our roster forwards, he's been a beast lately.
