Yeah why do we suck at face-offs all of a sudden? Canucks are one of the worst face-off teams as well and we struggled

Good start... when's the last time we scored a soft goal on a goalie?

We've always played as a 5 man defensive unit. It just seems lately we can never get that goal to make the game easy for us but when our backs are against the wall we seem to be able to find a way to get a goal. I'm sure Babs doesn't tell them to back off it's just a mentality in the players to play safe. I mean we haven't blown leads really it's just been a struggle to score. Our chances per game have dropped considerably as well. I just think the way they were scoring earlier wasn't sustainable and this is the reality of this roster. I mean Datsyuk, Weiss and Tatar were all scoring at a unreasonable pace. I've noticed teams have really keyed on Datsyuk the last month or so and Z hasn't been able to pick up the slack That's why its dumb to play Z and D together. We don't have the luxury of playing two world class centers together. One line is going to get the tough assignment the other is supposed to take advantage. That's the point of depth. I put Z and D together when you're out of options and nothing is working

Why do people think we've suddenly changed our approach? We're dumping and chasing because the defense can't move the puck. Scoring goes through dry spells, especially ours. Everybody should know this as wings fans. Babs wanted the team better in their own zone and they have been. At least on the stat sheet. It's not like once we get the puck in the offensive zone the players are told to be defensive minded. It's anything goes to get the puck in the net just like it's always been.

I like Helm as a winger he has been much more effective. At least he can get in on the forecheck quickly and stir up s***. He handles the puck too much as a centre he needs to simplify his game and crash and bang, even though he's one of the teams best face-off men. I believe he can be a better Abby as a top 6. Weiss can bang home pucks around the net. Like the lines tonight 4-0 Wings

I was just thinking this. Why wouldn't the media comment. We got a guy who seemingly turned a huge corner and recovered from injury and had a huge impact like we believed he would when we first signed him. The more I think about it the more it pisses me off. Scoring depth is one thing, but it's not like any of our top 9 lines are playing so well we can't move them around. Him and Abby are the only guys that have shown they can bang pucks home around the net.

Maybe Franzen was out of position but the pass went nowhere near anybody... he essentially had a crucial zone clearing that ensured Canucks victory. It will be a while before I forgive him for that. Maybe if he gets a point shot on net I may be able to see past it

It should also be mentioned we were poised for a nice comeback, the game was 2-1, we had the goalie pulled and Canucks had iced the puck and didn't take a timeout. We won the face-off cleanly and the puck went back to Kronwall who then proceeded to pass to nobody and the puck exited our zone and the Canucks scored an empty netter. Game over

Kronwall blew this game. Other teams #1 defensemen are noticeable in a good way night in night out. The only consistent thing I notice about Kronwall is how he manages to hit anything but the net

And he still almost scored... But honestly, nobody flushed this game down the toilet more than Kronwall at the end of the game with the goalie pulled. Game over after he got the puck where we wanted him to get it inexcusable

Dekeseyer is the only d-man on this team I would care if he just retired next year. Overtime we insert a rookie they outplay half the defense roster. Are they freaks of nature or is our defense a complete joke

Pull the goalie win the face-off off an icing get the puck to your #1 d-man with time and space... That's a great script for any other team that isn't using Niklas Kronwall as a #1

Yeah Kronwall is incredible. I honestly think DD is already better than him

The strategy is to control the puck in the offensive zone as much as possible because the defense absolutely can't move the puck. Our forwards have to battle along the boards so much because we have nothing off the rush or from the point. The defense is worse than you think. We have a great forward group Why do you think a rookie like Ouellette and DD step in and look so great? Because our defense is absolutely horrible

yup defense can't play hockey in their own zone Quincey took 10 seconds to help out in a spot where he should have been to start the shift
