We should make a 'trade speculation thread' where we can discuss rumours and targets. I know there's a rumours section but nobody ever goes there and the majority of the threads get derailed into discussing trade scenarios anyways

I don't think Arizona is looking to rebuild. Sounds like it's a retool situation. Trade an effective top 4 for an effective top 6. I would offer Mule. Nobody is going to question him being a top 6 and he's got size. Something that the western conference thinks is the only thing that matters in a player. Kindl can be tacked on to the deal easily and would make a lot of sense as a partial replacement. If Yandle was right handed I would say do whatever it takes to get him but I think it could pay off big time to try and get Green for a really good deal.

TSN says Yandle is being actively shopped and trade talks have picked up, seeking a top 6 forward. I would pay the price and make a good hockey deal and that's what I think it's going to take Nyquist+Kindl for Yandle There's going to be a log jam of talent that aren't fourth liners, but deserve to be in the lineup. As of right now when healthy we have to choose to put Helm/Abdelkader/Jurco/Franzen/Weiss on the fourth line just because of our depth and it's just going to get worse the next few years

It's crazy how unlucky we've been getting that elusive top 4. Wiz, Suter, Niskanen and Boyle... all those guys would have made this team so much better but we managed to save a lot of money. If we can find good balance and depth on defense I think in the next 2 years we'll have a contending unit without having a marquee number 1.

I wouldn't count out Wiz just because of his comments. I doubt he would pass up an opportunity to come to a great organization that has a chance to win just because Holland low balled him 4 years ago. Right now I'd like Green just because he's proven and him being a UFA at the end of the year his price tag comes way down. Meyers could potentially not even make our lineup and he has a huge contract. I think we're going to have to wait for the deadline

Once Abby is back that line should have more tenacity and traffic in front of the net, which has been a huge part of our scoring. Mule isn't willing to take a beating night in and night out so there's less space being cleared for Gus and Z. That line has been sound defensively often going up against the opposing top line and still chipping in here and there. Everyone is going to go through some lulls, it's encouraging that other lines have proven they can score on a consistent basis. He does look tired some nights, but never a detriment. I just think he needs a little rest and to play the maple leafs

The Sharks gave up a 3 on none from the blue line last night to the oilers and they never made a pass and missed the net

We still need a top 4 dman which is really hard to acquire. Probably a better idea to give Dekeseyer and Smith another year to Grow. Picking up Green/Myers in the meantime would be a huge help

Pavel just roasts his matchup every night. We have too much depth for some of these teams in the East. Imagine guys like Kadri having to match up against Datsyuk and then their third centre taking on Sheahan. One of those lines is going to win their match up most nights. That's why I think our first line has slowed down, they're always taking on the top lines

4th line was pretty damn good last night. Seemed like Babs just matched our first with their first if I'm not mistaken though? I think the problem with our first line is Z has definitely geared down, I think a rest would do him wonders. Franzen is doing the bare minimum out there, seems like all he's good for is 1 or 2 inspired shifts a game. Hopefully a rest is all he needs. Nyquist needs more room, he seems to be getting special attention by most teams
