great 4th line shift He had a terrible turnover early but that play you're mentioning he did not look out of place. He's got great patience plays with his head up I'm predicting Tatar-Datsyuk and Nyquist-Zetterberg will be the money combinations all year.

I'm leaning toward splitting up Zetterberg and Datsyuk. At least to start the season what are you talking about he got a great scoring chance and drew a penalty

Completely agree. I love Dano and I know he's happy to be anywhere in the lineup. Some healthy competition helps everybody. If Nyquist was granted a spot in the lineup he may not have came out the way he did. We got a lot of guys that have something to prove. Whether it's weiss or even guys like Abby and helm who want to show they aren't just grinders. Everybody has to earn their spot

A lot more attention will be paid to Jurco I'd imagine. More ice time with the top guns

Helm's value is pretty low right now due to his injury history better to keep him. If he goes off and has an incredible season while staying healthy his value will sky rocket maybe around the trade deadline. Who knows who will be on the table at that time

Helm brings a lot of what teams are looking for. If he can show he doesn't look out of place in a threatening top 6 he would a huge asset. Helm can hang on to the puck great. His play around the net is questionable but still way better then Abby. Good things happen when Helm is on the ice. Abby can't have the puck on his stick for more then 5 seconds huge difference. The key is staying healthy Helm was scoring at a nice pace before being injured. Playing with Dats and Z he will no doubt achieve career highs

Imagine if Helm can pot close to 30 goals playing with Z and Dats (which isn't totally unreasonable if they can form chemistry) We will have an incredible asset that is one of the fastest in the NHL, physical and on an amazing contract. We have a log jam at center he could be part of a solid trade for top tier talent

Maybe with Abby not getting so many crucial minutes he can go out and create energy as a 4th liner

I think helm is under utilized on the 4th line. He can haul the piano better than Abby with his incredible speed. I like that babs is trying new things and I got no problem with helm playing with Z and D. Very defensively sound and helm's speed will create a ton of space On that note sounds fantastic on paper but very crucial to stay healthy!

Always wanted him to do something that really stood out like a black mask like hillers. Something a little less traditional

Cleary won't be able to sustain an effective level of play for long even if he does win a job in camp. Which I think will happen. Xmas time Jurco will be up full time

You would have to have a ton of confidence and moxy to hog the puck on a line with dats and z. I expect most guys would plan on getting the puck to them and trying to get open

There is nothing I want more than Jurco to have a Nyquist-like breakout season. We really need a young defensemen to step up and make an impact as well Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Jurco Nyquist-Weisse-Alfie Franzen-Sheahan-Tatar Abby-Helm-Miller

Mantha as a checker... Makes sense

When Subban is good, he's great. One of the best defensemen in the league, offensively. When he is bad, he is awful and costs his team. Like in the Rangers series he was just terrible. Trying to go end to end, double shifting and taking bad penalties. I think his attitude is fine for such a young player though. I think if he was a Red Wing I would get very frustrated with him

I'd rather have two Kronwalls than 1 Subban. I think balance is going to be our key to success in the future. If our defense prospects hit their potential we won't have a Subban or karlsson but we'll be able to ice a much better defensive lineup than those teams

Getting really excited for the season to begin. We had so much up in the air last season. Nobody really knew where we stood with the veterans and youngsters. Now we're set. Hard to believe these guys were rookies just last year and now they're big time impact players Maybe, just maybe. The policy of over ripening works

I wouldn't be surprised to see Tatar finish with more goals than Nyquist. Although I love seeing Gus score more than any other red wing Yeah defense always looked shakey. Entry into the zone was the biggest problem. I can deal with no shooters from the point but we can't spend the whole power play outside the attacking zone. Kills our momentum dead happened countless times last year
