I have to agree this is baffling. Willing to give 7 years to Niskanen but can't do 5 on a proven producer. Our scouts must be high on this kid and not so much on Ehrhoff. We could have had him a number of times There's no way we get Niskanen. Then Dan Boyle will be our highest paid player. What a joke

Don't like the looks of this tbh. We're going to overpay for Boyle and that's it. Holland has been aggressively searching for a top 4 defensemen for 4 years and plenty have gotten passed around with lots of success. This makes no sense to me

Erhoff would likely get 6M range. It helps our bargaining stance. Erhoff is the safe choice but I really want a right handed defensemen. Erhoff seems like a Kenny type of deal 3-4 years

We are in a position to upgrade considerably. Start with a big free agent signing (Niskanen) then we have a lot up expendable players we can deal at the deadline. Players that are actually worth something

Nyquist played college hockey also

It would be interesting to see which team has drafted the most college hockey players. I know we have a lot. It seems like college hockey has grown significantly might be early on to this early wave of great players that played college hockey

I can see holland and co direction for this team. A mix of veterans, skill, speed and size much like 08. Lines with different identities. We are going to start seeing our d men really take steps forward especially if we can sign a good top 4

In this day and age of the NHL every center should be good 2-way I have to admit I don't know much about prospects but the size of these prospects satisfy me. I know our scouts know exactly what they're doing

The market isn't there to acquire "top line winger" or "top pairing puck moving defensemen". This board can't even put a name to these players they want so bad because it simply isn't feasible. We need some guys with high hockey IQ. Young guys can learn so much from playing with a smart, effective veteran player. Add jumbo joe and get Jurco in the top six and we actually have a top 6 with a mix of speed, skill and size Assuming we package Tatar and Sheahan (because nobody is taking Weiss and they'll want a centre) in a trade for Joe Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Franzen Nyquist-Thornton-Jurco Alfredsson-Weiss-Helm Abby-Glendening-Miller Massive PP upgrade which is crucial if we plan on improving at all next season

Thornton setting up Nyquist and Jurco? Young guys could benefit greatly from playing with Thronton. More so than a guy trying to prove he can still play in the NHL in Weiss
