Boston is the perennial stat padding team. Toronto last year didn't play above their heads amazing hockey, they just beat the bruins. If it was any other team with an ounce of balls the series would have been over. No team in the east scares me if we play the way we tend to against elite teams. After game 1 people will throw out season stats and see that this red wings team is like last years but deeper, stronger and more experienced. We love being the underdog and after a couple games people won't look at us like one

Last year I genuinely believed the wings had no chance against Anaheim and when every time they won a game I was like atleast i can watch another red wings game. This years team I see a lot more heart and desire then last years. This team won't allow themselves to get outplayed in back to back games. Sometimes you can't catch a break and the puck doesn't go in and that's what I think this series will come down to. Timely goals and lucky breaks And anyways. Boston won't win the Stanley cup anyways no matter how this series goes. And in all honesty I would not be the least bit surprised if we got on them early and ended the series in 5 games like we should have last years Stanley cup champs. This team is one of the elite when they put everything together.

Also Ericsson was a complete chud before going down with injury. With smith and Kronwall as our #1 pairing we're a hell of a lot more dynamic and threatening and we move the puck up ice a lot better. Smith has been a stand out player for us and I think he will thrive on the big stage and we can have a pairing that are actually a threat to score. Ericsson returning from injury will be nice only because we can replace Lashoff who is terrible with someone that can log a lot of responsible minutes. That's Ericsson game. Either he's locked down defensively or he's running around trying to do too much and not much help on either end of the ice

Great logic. They'd be dumb to lose in the first round? Sometimes you get beat. Anaheim lost to us because they were dumb? Boston's offense isn't very scary at all and Rask isn't as great as you all think. If we can get 30+ shots on him we score 2+ goals This series will come down to who gets the good breaks and timely goals. Boston is much less scarier then Pittsburgh because I believe the pens could out score anybody in games they deserve to lose. If we win 1 in Boston then we take this series. Everything is thrown out the window if Jimmy can't perform like he usually does in the playoffs though

Seriously all will be forgiven with Franzen if he goes on a tear in the playoffs. He's about due Nobody will ever understand this guy it baffles me

Why is Lashoff in the NHL still? enough is enough

The wings are easily better then the west's bubble teams Dallas and Phoenix and probably better then the wild. We have terrible records against non playoff eastern teams and if we weren't a dumpster fire at the shootout we get at least another 7 points. Not to mention the injuries

I don't know why everyone thinks Rask is godlike. I've seen him let in a lot of floaters

I would say when/if E comes back sit Lashoff. Kindl I think will look much better not playing with a rec league player and I hate Kindl. He has good flashes

We lost....

2 PP goals and a garbage tap in. Then a fluke in the shootout I really want to play the penguins they're easily rattled but as somebody mentioned earlier the Crosby reffing might make me lose my mind. Also it looks like fleury could redeem himself this year
