Lol Quincey has been our third best defensemen for a while now. The blind hate is ridiculous. There's a reason he's the only dman on this team that other GMs are interested in.

Look at Abby it works. He may not be sniping goals but the combination of grit and skill is working. Forechecking is a huge part of getting zone time and Helm will be first on the puck 90 percent of the time. Controlling the puck in the offensive zone is datsyuk's game that's when he's most dangerous

Apparently Edler and Torts are clashing and he doesn't suit his coaching style. They just shipped out Dale Weiss for this same reason. The best thing would be if Edler spoke out publicly and demanded a trade -
What about the possibility of some guys being bought out in the offseason

Real assets like Tatar, Nyquist and then tack on those expiring contracts so the trade is cap compliant. Then they let them walk. It's a salary dump. If the other team likes the deal they'll take on a few expiring contracts so that it works out

Pretty easy just tack on some expiring contracts like Quincey and Sammy. Clears up enough space for an elite dman. Teams will be willing to take them if the difference between making a deal it's not like they have to play them

I might be okay with trading some serious assets for a d man at the deadline and maybe go hard for Vanek in the offseason. I don't see any progress being made unless we upgrade what our real issue is, the Defense.

Crazy thing is that Sheahan in his first 20 or so games has had a bigger impact than both Nyquist and Tatar had

If we paid that much for Vanek we're still not going anywhere in the playoffs if we don't get a capable top 4 defensemen. This team can find the goals we need. We don't need to pay 1M dollars for 4.5 goals if he can somehow reach his career highs again

Abby-Z-Nyquist Franz-Dats-Helm Alfie-Sheahan-Tatar Miller-Anders-Eaves EDIT: forgot Weiss. I'm really hopeful he can be the player we expected him to be after he gets back from injury. It would be nice if Weiss could come back and outplay Sheahan then our third would be ever better

I'm satisfied with our forward group. I think they can go head to head with any team when healthy. Next year 20+ goals from Nyquist and Tatar each is not unrealistic at all

The new hybrid icing. The call is blown off if the team beats the other player to the hash marks. It's a race to the hash marks essentially instead of first player to touch the puck. Even if the puck is fired down and the team is clear to retrieve it for icing the refs don't blow the whistle until the player reaches the hash marks.

Lol @ Vanek for 9 mil. We need a capable defensemen a hell of a lot more than overpaying for a guy like Vanek. We'll score a lot more goals if we had another defensemen that could chip in offensively and pass the puck. Having a D man that can put up 50+ points and make our power play up to top 10 is an extra 35+ goals a year

There wasn't a lot of room out there tonight, very chippy game. If we buried our chances it wouldn't have been close. I give the Panthers credit. They're very fast and good forecheckers. They probably seemed faster because most of the Defense was dreadful. Idk about you guys but I haven't noticed any big blunders by Quincey lately. He looks solid. I think any unbiased observers would see him as our 3rd best defensemen

Damn I thought he was a righty. I think given the Canucks situation and how they are claiming a big change I think we could possibly pick him up for cheap. -

I heard it was Nyquist + Smith and a 1st (Mantha) Since then Nyquist stock has risen and Edler's has fallen. Canucks have a lot of pressure right now to make moves. They've held on too long to players and blown a lot of opportunities (Luongo) I would be okay with Tatar + Smith + 1st/2nd + salary dump. Edler was an elite defensemen not too long ago. We desperately need a RH d man -
