Doesn't your fake quote about Red Wings player development seem like a very logical way to handle young prospects to get the most out of them? We just seen first hand what keeping a young talented player on the fourth line did to Jurco. Management cares more about getting the most out of young players than getting a few extra wins and improving team scoring and I agree with the philosophy. A lot of fans will enjoy the ride a lot more once they realize the wings are planning for the future and it may not always be the ideal product on the ice because of that. Give it time

Fact is... When Franzen was feeling it he was the most dominant power forward in the league... He played hard went to the net creamed a guy here and there pretty much exactly what we wish we had now -

We had a tough time against Nashville in the first round... If he wasn't going crazy we may not have squeaked through... Pretty much single handedly won the series against Colordo and Dallas -

I have nothing but great memories of Franzen. He single handedly won series en route to back to back finals. If it wasn't for his freakish scoring I don't think we win in 08. I don't think I've ever seen a player so dominant. Consistent? Not quite but when he was on one of his crazy streaks there was absolutely nothing that could stop him -

If we didn't overpay some of the guys we got we could have signed a hypothetical #1 defensemen then our rebuild would be complete! -

Put Nyquist or Helm on the same line as AA and I think their speed can be a game changing third line like they were in the 2013 playoffs I would almost prefer to see AA at wing this year. Gives him a better chance to get minutes and can insert him more easily -

well Subban and Jones are the best defensemen traded recently and the Wings didn't have the pieces for either -
I'm not saying possession is bad obviously. Karlsson is a guy with unreal offensive skills but I would rather have a balanced number one that might not have that great of possession numbers. Doughty and Keith can actually play defense. They are just great defensemen top to bottom

That's why karlsson's team does so well every year Aside from Doughty, whose more of a hybrid... These guys like Subban, Karlsson have had marginal team success especially in the playoffs

I for one find these rebuilding years fun to watch I won't be disappointed until Larkin and co have a few full seasons under their belt and the team still isn't making progress Holland's made some questionable moves lately but I'm not going to act like he needs to be fired until he starts losing promising players because of it. When and if he makes a trade for an impact defensemen it will be very very important for the future of the team. Right now he's left himself a lot of options. Larkin could have been gone without playing a game for Myers if I remember the rumour correctly -

Only that Khan tweet about him being bought out but was deleted seconds after. I don't think he's on the chopping block as of now. It would be in the teams best interest to see if he can turn his game around. As of right now the cap problems haven't prevented any deals from going through so I still have faith in Holland -

I can't see Holland making a big move for a dman, especially with the cap crunch the team is in. Holland's main focus should be finding creative ways to dump E and Howard like he did with Datsyuk. That will make things much easier -
Basically screwed over a young kid

I think the problem with the signings and overpaying is because people were paid by the position they had on this team which was over their head like Ericsson. If Dekeseyer wasn't our best dman on a bad defensive lineup we would have likely got him for cheaper. He's overpaid slightly as of now but he'll grow into his contract. He's a good piece to start rebuilding the defense Abby and Helm's contracts are bad, now way around it. I haven't watched Nielsen play but this could potentially be a very bad contract as well I'm not going to get all up in arms that Holland is ruining this team until we see quality players lost through waivers or we're not able to sign quality young players because of his cap management. We'll see. -

I'm just saying... If AA and Mantha can't outplay Vanek then they need more time in the minors. No reason to rush them if the team is doing okay with the vets anyways That's the way the team is set up right now unless theirs a trade which I doubt. Their are a lot of back up plans. Best case scenario the veterans aren't getting the job done and the kids come up and blow everyone away. Worst case the veterans play well and the team is successful. AA and Mantha should be two of the very best players in the AHL and theirs still a lot to learn in the minors AA I see having an advantage to make the team over Mantha because of his crazy speed. Even if he's not scoring and making plays he makes the team better. Mantha I'm not so sure about -

I think these coming years, with a new coach, young hyped prospects coming to the team and the core of our past team slowly fading away, Holland is more focused on developing our young players and being patient. Stockpile as much young talent as possible and make decisions on who can lead this team going forward. I think after he struck out with Stamkos he decided to stay the course and develop talent the Red Wings way even though many find it infuriating. The logjam of forwards and defense is annoying but honestly if these young guys come out and take these vets spots than more power to them. It will be better for them in the long run. The decision to keep going with the streak instead of a tank job is not soley Holland's decision. He has a boss too -

We really need a physical element on the blueline. We got a lot of big strong guys but nobody teams are scared of. Kronwalls open ice hits is a dynamic we are really starting to miss -
I think this deal will be a steal once he has The right partner. DD is an important piece of a rebuilding defense

Signed Glendening signs 4-year, $1.8m AAV extension

Yeah. My whole point is that the offense didn't work last year. That's coaching and players. The defense was good... Because our defensive players were good -

Then what's your point? You don't seem to have one. I never said anything about analytics. You mentioned how bad we were offensively was because of Glendening's ice time and I said you should probably start blaming our scorers for not scoring before our 4th line centre. Glendening didn't lead the team in ice time. Z and Larkin got pretty average ice time for first line players. I take into account how awful the other lines were for why Glendening's ice time went up. Remember how awful the Tatar-Sheahan-Tatar line was? There's a reason their ice time went down. Look at the power play. Everything suggests our offensive guys had a down year but defensively were pretty average. Logically we should blame our offensive players -

joesuffP replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
You act like Glendening plays more than anybody, he doesn't. And that also includes all the time spent on the PK. Blaming Glendening cause guys like Z, Nyquist, Tatar had disappointing seasons is stupid. How was that power play again? Say what you want about Blashill's coaching staff not being able to generate any scoring but blaming Glendening for how bad we were offensively is dumb and wrong. The strategy mostly didn't work all season but we weren't shot out of the gym. Last I checked our defensive game was decent and our offensive game was complete trash. If we had good offensive players they could have taken advantage. Having one player hit 50 points on the season is very bad offensively -

Well maybe the problem is that nobody on this team can score 50 points and not our 4th liners -

So let them dominate Z and Larkin? Those guys are counted on to score. Glendening matches up against those guys so our other lines can do the scoring. If we had prime Z and Dats I guarantee Blashill would roll them out against the best in the league -
