Well Mrazek wants 5M for two years and Holland offering AAV of around 3.25M so an arbitrator most likely would award 4M @ 2 years. Pretty fair to me. Elliot Friedman tweeted the details of the offer btw that's where I'm getting my numbers from

But not quite as high. Which could only possibly mean Nyquist is trash and Tatar is god

I'm not saying glendening Is the best defensive centre in the league but I know if he played on a good team all these stats would change drastically This board is putting so much stock in our lower defensive signings. How about having top six forwards that can break 50 points? This team is bad in almost all areas aside from GAA and PK which is decent. But yes our defensive players were our demise. If you're a defensive player on a bad team you'll never ever have good numbers -

Again just because he doesn't generate shots doesn't mean he isn't good defensively. Wings defensive zone style is to sit back and allow outside shots and get into lanes. If Glendening had great possession numbers the way he is utilized he'd be Zetterberg in his prime. Giving up a lot of shots doesn't mean you're not doing your job defensively. To say Glendening isn't good defensively is to go against every knowledgeable coach he's ever had You can really see who on this board goes to Winging it in Mowtown... As soon as you realize those people on that site are nothing but fans you become humbled and realize you're not more knowledgeable than NHL coaches and managers. I'm not going to just cast off all advanced analytics but the data is so skewed on a team to team basis. If we were a Stanley cup contender this data would be alarming. This is a bad hockey team and the data reflects that more so than a single player. What a strange coincidence, every player that isn't used defensively has outstanding numbers and every defensive player has terrible ones. I guess that can only mean those guys are trash and Jurco and smith are elite. If you ran your team based off these stats you wouldn't have a good team -

He's used like a premier shut down forward on this team. Probably one of the most utilized shut down centers in the league. For him to have glowing stats the way he was used he'd have to be the best defensive forward in the league and a star player. Glendening has tough assignments night in night out. For his possession numbers to be great he'd have to be outplaying top line players every night and therefore be a superstar. He plays the tough minutes so Z and co don't have to and last I checked our defensive game was one of the only respectable parts to our game last year Literally the wings were a team that was bad at everything but defensively were decent but we blame our defensive forwards all off season But I know if Jurvo was allowed to play instead of our defensive forwards we'd score more because pretty soon Jurco will score I bet. I mean he is young. Our defensive forwards out score Jurco and everyone on this board will always complain about our lack of scoring because our defensive forwards play over guys like him. Makes no sense -

That kind of has more to do with the team strategy we don't pressure pucks we get in lanes and sit back. Usually a pretty good penalty killing team on average Possession doesn't always equal good especially for a defensive player. Glendening and the fourth line play a safe game where they don't give up big plays and lower the quality shots faced. If they got two men deep cycling the puck of offense chances are they'll give up big plays especially if they're facing top lines Let ovechkin take unscreened slappers from the blueline all night -

There wasn't any real reason to turn on Franzen anyways. He was a beast in his prime and even better in the playoffs. After he got older he was still a very good top six player and is pretty much the exact player we are missing right now The point is people on this forum will turn on anyone regardless of facts just so it follows their own made up narrative -

Jurco scored 6 points last year In the end Jurco will get dealt for peanuts and everyone will be livid for a week or two -

I have to admit the defense is kind of a different story. I think management really values size on the backend, at least from their defensive defenseman. If someone came to training camp and was outstanding offensively I think they would be on the fast track to the lineup though. New defense couch could make things interesting? DD, Smith and Marchenko entering their primes it would change the team if they could have breakthrough seasons, then the outlook would be a lot different. Smith especially. It would be such a huge boost if he could become an impact player -

Ya Larkin was given a shot because how great he played for GR and training camp. Perform like that and Blashill will have no choice. Simple as that The only time a prospect sat when they were clearly ready to contribute was when Nyquist was forced to play in GR for roster reasons. Poor management but Holland made room for him eventually. In the last 2 years the wings have brought up a lot of guys that became regulars quickly. But then theirs guys like Jurco and Pulkinnen who very clearly haven't earned a job on this team yet and they should be treated as such. It's about creating a competitive environment in the locker room but players have roles. Mantha isn't fighting for the same spot as Miller or Helm Say what you want about Miller but theirs no way Helm isn't a top 9 forward on this team including all the GR studs that are too good for the AHL -

Yeah well if the youngins want a spot they have to earn it like Larkin did what's the big deal? Worst case scenario is they play after a huge nosedive or they don't get their chance because everyone is playing better -
Would arbitration take into account the remaining cap space? Also having Jimmy as a proven option would that come into factor with Mrazek's contract? Idk why people are all up in arms with them filing for arbitration. It's a common occurrence especially with Holland resigning UFA's. It just shows Mrazek and DD both want to stay in Detroit at the very least

Well in 4 games he would have had 2 goals and we would have been up 3 games to 1 if not for the injury. We got blown out in our losses after that so a lot of people picked up points -

Trying to see the positives here... Wish holland could get a killer discount out of these homegrown guys but alas... Long term our defensive minded, gritty forwards for the next 5 years: Abby, Helm, Glendening These guys are necessary but Holland is making quite the commitment. I guess he wants a guy like this on every line -
Getting a penalty for somebody dropping their stick on a 'slash' is the most infuriating thing in hockey right now
-
No reason to let him walk now even if the wings don't see a future in him. I have pretty big doubts about him but I never thought not resigning him was an option. With he logjam of forwards if he doesn't impress he'll be sitting Jurco Mantha Pulkinnen All fighting for the same spot imo maybe even throw AA into that mix. Just hopefully Blashill will get the right guys into the lineup Edit: forgot about Vanek. He is by no means a mainstay... All these guys fighting for that depth scoring position. Young guy not getting a chance because someone else is playing too well is a good problem to have

Where exactly is all Jurco's potential? He really can't shoot the puck at all, not a great skater and has never shown any serious playmaking skills If Jurco is going to turn it around and be an impact player he needs to use his strength. He ha size and can do everything moderately well. The only enormous untapped potential that our coaches have misused is not using him on the shootout to restock his YouTube highlights Sure Jurco would benefit from playing with better line mates but that's the only thing it would benefit. He just hasn't been able to make plays for two years. Throw Nyquist or Tatar on that same fourth line and theirs a huge difference. Jurco has been bad anybody can see that

Deal was made with Tampa before he had a chance to meet with Detroit simple as that. It's not because Holland sux if he was going to leave Tampa we would have been able to make a pitch -
