Here’s my hot take Z says he’s not ready to start the season and helps with the roster crunch laying the foundation for his retirement/LTIR next year after he gets his 1,000 points

Andreas Athanasiou Officially Signed 2 yrs. $3M AAV
joesuffP replied to SwedeLundin77's topic in General
Not a lot of players are getting paid 3M+ that never hit 35 points in there career. AA should have nothing to complain about now and neither should fans that say the organization hates AA for no reason. I like what Holland has done with term lately so the $$ amount may be a little on the higher side of there worth by the slightest of margins but everything is managemable -
Yes he’ll slide in with injuries or if AA/Nyquist is traded. If he can bounce back we’ll have a tonne of offensive depth going forward

What I’d like to see Mantha-Larkin-Bertuzzi Zadina-Zetterberg-Rasmussen AA-Nielsen-Nyquist Abdelkader-Glendening-Helm Frk/Svechnikov Dekeyser-Green Daley-Ericsson Kronwall-Jensen Hicketts

Zadina looks like a star to me

I’m happy with any of the possibilities besides Tkuchuk. He’s the only practical pick that would really bother me -
5 games total NHL experience is a ridiculously small sample size to base anything off of. At least meet in the middle and see how management comes to their decisions and where there coming from and what they’re doing isn’t just flat out wrong All these factors go into roster decisions. Hicketts may very well be on the team to start the season but thinking it’s ridiculous he’s not on the team is just irrational. Lots of legit reasons he’s not a regular NHLer
-
Call ups and who deserves a roster spot can be argued infinitely. Consider all angles. Hicketts had a great camp, played well when called up but was terrible in the AHL. Hronek had a weak camp, not much of a body of work to judge but had a great first year pro

I can see Svechnikov having a Mantha type development with its ups and downs and it will be a while before he can make a name for himself in the NHL. If he doesn’t have the skill to be a good scorer in the NHL he has the build to be a good defensive forward too. The Wings will be able to make him an NHL player one way or another
-
Don’t want to get all excited about this since there is no source. Going forward with Zadina, Larkin, Bouchard and Rasmussen is worth throwing out the prospect system and starting over. We won’t lose any sleep over this even if Mantha is a 30 goal scorer (maybe)

Anybody is tradeable that isn’t Larkin on this team. I’d be okay with giving up a huge package of young players for a top 5 pick as long as Larkin is still on the team

I’ve got my heart set on Bouchard. Couldn’t imagine taking a forward in this draft -
I predict Holland will sign a big FA on D to play with the homegrown guys. Safe to say these guys they drafted will be in the NHL in the next two years Bouchard, Cholowiski, Hronek Dekeseyer will still be signed Add an impact FA and they’ll be in pretty good shape on D considering what they ran with the last 3 years

If other members of the team want to go they should go it shouldn’t matter that one teammate isn’t there. We live in an era where an athlete should know that the president is so immature that if he doesn’t want to meet him then it will get the rest of his team uninvited and we blame the athlete? It’s ridiculous. Nobody cared when Tim Thomas didn’t want to meet Obama
-
If you say so. If only the president was held to such high moral standards as athletes and people on Twitter
-
I don’t think it has anything to do with a political agenda like a lot of Trump apologists like to spin it. It’s more about common decency and having zero respect for the president and don’t want to spend an afternoon with him and I don’t think athletes should feel forced to just because it is such a great ‘honor’. It’s the same dated thinking that athletes should just shut up and play there sport and not act like human beings

Missed most of this watching Houston choke against the Warriors but looked like a hell of a game On the Vegas roster I’m still reserving judgement. Is Karlsson really a 40 goal top 10 center year in and year out along with Reilly Smith. Karlsson maybe but I doubt Smith keeps up his pace. He had good years in boston and was a fan favorite but he was far from a top line player
-
I’m sorry but that intro is too corny. The building has the atmosphere of a Florida water park
-
I still can’t accept MAF being consistently this great for an entire playoff run
-
I keep counting out Vegas. Part of me thinks the Jets ran out of gas against them and they took advantage. I don’t think they’ve played a team as physical and stingy defensively as the Caps. Vegas lives off of turnovers and the Jets are fun to watch but a little sloppy coming up ice
-
I love you Stevie Y but I can’t stand your team
-
Mantha expressed he would like a short bridge deal. I think we’ll be happy with how Holland handles the RFA’s Management loves Larkin so I wouldn’t be suprised with 6-8 years @ 6.5ish Mantha 1-2 years @ 4M The rest short term @ 1-2M Green won’t be signed all summer than Holland gets him resigned cheap for short term. No way Holland offers 3+ years and teams will be scared of his neck injury

I personally prefer a 50 point jack of all trades D man that can play 30 minutes if need be in the playoffs a la Duncan Keith compared to a Brent Burns who has dominant games but if you watch him night in night out he’s kind of infuriating Basically I’m team Bouchard. I’d rather our D create and play from the back end. Also, young players have been able to improve there skating once they have have access to professional coaching with the right attitude -
Next season will be Mantha’s real test. He’s heard all the criticism and said all the right things he just needs to decide what kind of player he’s going to be. The first 20 games of last season he looked like he was a legit high end offensive guy. If he doesn’t score around 30 goals it will be a disappointment in my eyes. I’ve given up on AA. He looked terrible last season to the point where I don’t think it comes down to useage. Just not a high level hockey IQ. Blaming Blashill for everything wrong with the team is a cop out. He’s well respected around the league, had success elsewhere and has improved each year. I just don’t see the untapped potential in this roster that everyone else is watching. The vets are who they are and the young players are improving
