I think we need a young offensive dman with good upside to grow with the team, probably spend some time in GR. I think we are stacked with good forwards for the future and some solid dmen in Dekeseyer and Marchenko, just need another dman to develop. By the time Larkin and co take over this team we'll have a great goaltender and forward group but still need some help on the back end

Could this conditioning stint be some sort of loophole for him to stay in GR without going through waivers?

Doesn't E have our only fight of the year? Buff will be commanding a monstrous contract that will set a new standard for elite defensemen

Yep that's been our problem ever since Dats, Z and Franzen started missing significant time each year. I don't think it will stay this bad, the team has had injuries and an understandable adjustment period. On defense I'm pretty happy with how guys like Marchenko are coming along. We've been unlucky with guys like Smith and Kindl not following our planned trajectory, it has set us back. Both those guys should be top 4 mainstays the way Holland had thought but that doesn't mean Marchenko won't become an impact player on this team.

I suggest watching other teams play. No teams defense is perfect defensively, I say we're a middle of the pack team on defense. Good depth but no high end talent. Thankfully we don't have a guy like Karlsson, he would be castrated here. Then there's our good defensive guys like E who is the worst player in the world around here. Our defense is as good as it's ever been since Lids left

Whose still out on Green? Doesn't he lead all defensemen in points despite missing the most games?

I don't think we're going to be a dominant perennial contender until Larkin, AA and Mrazek are the core of this team. I think Holland has a long term plan where they will be aiming at a new dynasty of red wings. Be patient, I've accepted this and it feels a lot better It's the difference between us and other teams that continue to fail rebuilding. We treated our vets with respect and allowed them to teach and nurture the future leaders while making necessary improvements to keep the team competitive which allows our prospects to transition from good to great a lot easier

Did you guys notice who was on the ice in the final seconds of the game? Dats, Z and the one and only Larkin. All this experience is going to make this young kid turn into a man really fast AA going to the net hard at the end almost brought a tear to my eye. Break neck speed and takes it to the net every opportunity

If Blash can drill it into his head to put the body on guys in his own zone like he did last night he should get by. Ozzie made a good point last night, we don't have to be knocking guys on their ass to be physical but you have to be physical. He have to lay the body on guys or we're only taking the space they want us to

That give and go that Kronwall made late in the game to set up Abby with a grade A scoring chance that he flubbed was something Kronwall should be doing game in game out. Those plays are so far and few between with him

Kindl is probably one of the best third pair defensemen in the league tbh Imo just by the eyeball test E has looked fine and is strong in front of the net. No offense to his game whatsoever same with Dekeseyer. Those fancy stats don't flatter defense only guys

LGW, where people complain about people not complaining about something Green has been our most consistent defensemen all year and also had two assists last night. His play on the puck wasn't that bad even, Bobby Ryan made a great move and that's what great players do. He Deked out three red wings remember I do complain about Dekeseyer, he can't pass the puck at all, still great in his own zone Smith can't score and that's what his game is tailored to to. Look at Jakub, he's in the lineup because his offensive skills outweigh his defensive lapses. Smith is just a lot of lapses

I think the better we play the worse he plays sometimes. He needs to be busy to be truly great

Nyquist was great Abby had a downright embarrassing night I think he was getting chirped all night. He blew like 6 grade A chances, still played alright otherwise Highlight reel goal scored on us probably will be seeing that all year Shame we couldn't bury more chances and our few mistakes really cost us but two points is great for one of our best games Is it just me or is Dekeseyer a terrible passer? So many icings on easy plays. I think he's really struggling the the stretch pass, still playing alright otherwise

The cap just needs to rise a lot quickly. With these guys getting paid 10M a year the cap is way too low to be reasonable

I hope guys like Pulkinnen, Kindl and Andersson are being showcased for a trade otherwise these lineups make no sense, but losing purposely makes no sense either. I would really welcome some sort of trade right about now

I never watched the last game was he demoted? I think the last thing Blash should be doing is "sending messages" to key players right now a la Michelle Therrien. Who knows, with the role our 4th line plays it's hardly a demotion. In the end I want to see Abby do well and I want to get 50 dollars as well

Would be pretty impressively bad but who knows if he encounters injury problems... Knock on wood I think he'll flirt around 23 like last year. He has to with his PP time and line mates and his ice time per game. He has 5 goals in 16 games on a team that can't score. That's no bad, his 5 goals are pretty key for a team like us. I expect our scoring to get better obviously or else we're not making the playoffs that's for sure... Knock on wood

I think sometimes the wings are too quick to fire the puck right back up ice to move in transition and it rarely works. I'd like to see them slow the game down sometimes and stop forcing pucks. I think some of our truly dreadful performances was just because they were just gassed and needing to get back into full season mode. We've played a lot of back to backs very early in the season with guys moving back into the lineup from injury. These losses don't look like its a system problem, it looked like a slow and dumb problem.

This. People think Z and him have amazing chemistry together but I don't really see it. Just two great players. Nyquist and Z have been our most productive combo for years but it's hard to keep them together for some reason. Tatar just really needs to step up and play a lot better
