GDT 11/10 GDT : Washington Capitals at Red Wings, 7:30 EST

I understand that the replay was inconclusive but the league needs to implement a rule where they have room for discretion when making a call. Everyone knew the puck went into the net in relation to his glove, I mean the puck was almost in back of the net not just over the line. It is the rule so I can't be mad but theirs no reason to not get the right call when you can -

If we continue using our Glendening and Miller as a heavy shutdown line that gets a lot of minutes then we're technically seeing a 4th line of AA-Pulks-Andersson just like Bill wanted -
Why would you want to start an argument over two goalies that are both playing as good as anybody could have hoped for. Least of our problems

Well it probably helped we didn't attempt to guard his patented 1 timer on the PP for some reason. He must have had at least 5 of those -

Yeah you can tell Feds really loved being a wing and was the best player in the world for a period of time. What's not to love -

Helm=energy... Whole team worked their butts off today. I think the shot clock guy has questionable skills as a shot counter for the home team -
I see Kopitar is being put on this ridiculous pedestal around here. First of all he's most likely far from being available and secondly we're a better team holding on to the pieces it would take to get him. We'll get like 3 or 4 prime years out of him anyways. He's a comparable to Z in the type of player he was in his prime and Z didn't win the cup every year and couldn't win without some solid support Trading a guy like AA would be a terrible idea at this point in his career. Most teams wouldn't put much value in him until he's proven something. There's a lot of Mantha, Larkin and Mrazek hype. These are the guys teams want. We're better off waiting for these secondary prospects to develop with us because you're way off on their value around the league

He's playing tonight

Nyquist-Z-Abby Tatar-Sheahan-Helm AA-Larkin-Pulks Anders-Glen-Miller (probably too slow) i know red wings fans think Larkin is Jesus himself but Gus is the better winger at this point and can finish I'd like to see him centre a line as well. The way our lineup is if the top 6 doesn't score at least 3 goals we lose everytime -

I'd rather give Helm the puck on a rush then Abby. Helm has good hands he just can't finish around the net. Abby doesn't keep the puck on his stick for very long but Helm does And what is Abby like 2 inches taller then Helm? His job on that line is to drive the lane and win battles something Helm does well but will also provide energy, something Abby hasn't done for a while. I've never seen us force so many offensive zone turnovers then we did against Dallas and I think Helm had most of them. That line needs somebody to get the puck back. It's one and done everytime -

Give Helm a shot at that top six Abby role. The key is to provide energy and that's exactly what Helm does. Better puck carrier then Abby as well. I don't see why the points don't come to Helm like they do for Abby imo he's capable of everything Abby is -

4th line is going to get a lot of minutes tonight -
I think with guys like Marchenko and Ouellette coming through we don't need a super expensive #1 if we can beef up the forward group. Maybe if we could scoop up a guy like Wideman or another cheaper option. Z is carrying this team offensively and in the next few years we can't keep leaning on him like we are.
-
Kopitar is a centre. No Gm gives up all that for a rental either. Hypothetical trades bug me because nobody really has any clue what it would take and who is interested unless we get a solid rumour or statement
-
Great news!! Let the veterans do what they do and these young guys gotta prove their worth

Imo smith will never be a consistent top four defensemen in the league. He can have stretches where he's a pretty solid defensemen in that he keeps the puck moving up ice but he'll never put up points and he'll never be consistent enough where he isn't costing your team. He's a good #5/6 and that's all I expect out of him at this point. Pretty happy with Marchenko's play though I think he should stick with the team and I think even though Kindl has the same troubles with consistency as Smith, and is probably worse defensively, he has the ability to put up points so he should be given another shot before too long. Smith really responds well after a scratching too anyways
-
You can't let your man get two clean shots off in the slot especially when you're standing in position. Howard made a great save and then gave Smith the wtf look. Even smith knew he blew it. still not the reason we lost but it was a bad play by smith
-
Nyquist is at his absolute best when he has time with the puck in the offensive zone. He's a very slippery elusive skater and can burn skaters without even trying the problem is he's the first guy on the forecheck or battling on the boards.
-
It's time to give Jurco another shot Larkin-Z-Abby Gus-Sheahan-Helm Jurco-AA-Tatar Miller-Glen-Andersson Helm is finding his legs and his style of play is exactly what we need. Never seen so many forced turnovers in the offensive zone all season and it was because of him mostly
-
Fact is one of the small forwards have to be traded eventually. We just don't have the balance up front with Tatar, Nyquist and Pulks. This team has been needing a power forward ever since Franzen started missing huge parts of the season consistently. High zone time and low shot count means you're playing on the outside because we are just too small. We are incapable of scoring dirty goals

On pace is a statistic thrown out the window when you've only played 12 games

11/8/2015 - Dallas Stars VS Detroit Red Wings - GDT

I think we look much better hitting the forwards with a quick pass and skating hard through the neutral zone. We get spread out too thin when we try and hit them at their blue line and we usually just get out manned. Our speed really shows when we're skating the puck up ice -
Green just came off injury and imo was our best dman. I can't even recall one bad play he made. As a whole I think the defense played pretty good aside from not getting any shots through Smith was pretty much directly responsible for 1 of their 2 goals. Their wasn't much between the two teams but nobody on defense was a holy mess but if anybody was bad it was Smith

I thought E did pretty good for himself after the bad hit, just a shame nobody really had his back. That could have been a turning point in the game. Hemsky is a wimp too couldn't have asked for a better target I'm liking E's fire this season and Marchenko looks great. When Q gets back we're going to have some tough decisions. Smith can get the puck up ice but it's not translating to offense so is it really worth all his blunders? We can run a really good defensive bottom 6 defensive unit with Green and Kronwall handling offense? Kronwall-Green Dekeseyer-E Q-Marchenko -
Helm should be on the shutdown line if we're going to be using them so much I thought the Wings played pretty damn good defensively, but have to be better in the offensive zone. Adding some size would help. I don't know if I mentioned this but I really don't like Pulkinnen in the lineup
