This 2nd unit sums up our team struggles

I hate seeing the wings look so frail and rattled..something is very wrong here. Goaltending the only bright spot

These last 4 games are very concerning. We look like we would be outplayed by any team in the league right now

Zero offensive zone pressure

Good thing we have Z on D Babs one of the ugliest men I've seen in my life

arguing with somebody who didn't even watch the game and is basing his opinion purely on stats. 1 stat actually, out of the many others that are probably a more accurate way of showing how these games are actually being played. I understand the defense is capable of doing the bare minimum that we ask of defensemen. Which is to try and keep the puck out of their net. Sometimes. Other than the bare minimum they really hold the team back by not being able to move the puck competently, which is why we play the entire game in our zone. Our defense scoring is always s*** because nobody can move the puck and this affects more than just scoring. It's a huge part of the game and the difference between winning and losing

Anybody who watched the game will tell you the defense did not play well why is this so hard to understand. The game against Montreal any casual fan who observed the game would say we got thoroughly dominated... But oh 1 even strength goal against... Pretty good Nobody agrees with you. The defense isn't fine. Blash is most likely making adjustments because of this. Any coach that watched this game would know, despite the GAA not everything is fine and dandy

Yeah I'm going a bit overboard. We are playing truly terrible hockey but I think the defense can and will get better but consistency will always be a problem when half the d roster is playing above their heads I also think this team has other problems. Blash's strategy being one of them. He's being shut down right now and needs to find a way to adapt. We're also playing pretty weakly, losing every puck battle and weak passing all around. These forwards can put the puck in the net tho

Yes our GAA is a lock to stay the same after 5 games so our defense is good. No other things to factor into it whatsoever If you think defense is fine then what areas do we need to fix in order to not get dominated for the 3rd straight game? You just want Blash's strategy to be gold and make Babcock a bum. You were raving about how great we were with Blash's strategy after 2 games. Now we're playing some of the worst hockey I've seen and everything's fine. We didn't even look good in our wins aside from our 1 line

Like what? We're small and weak? That hasn't gotten old The defense is bad, anybody in management would tell you the same thing. Holland has tried everything possible to land defenseman does that not tell you anything. Bad puck movement kills our whole strategy If you watched the game instead of staring at GAA you'd notice we play the entire game in our own zone. There's a trend here and shot totals tell the true story. Without great goaltending your argument is thrown out out the window. Actually one bad game by our goalies throws out your whole argument

Look at shot differential. The shots will start to go in, trust me. It's been 5 games. You can also bank on our shooting percentage to go way down as well

What criteria for defense makes you think our roster is pretty good... Bad puck movers (aside from Green), zero offensive talent (aside from Green) and not good in their own zone Green has been our best defender. The last two dmen that have stepped on this team Green and DD, have been our best defenders. It might not show that they're so great but actually how bad our defense actually is

I suggest people watch other teams and watch how their defense plays. It is possible for a defenseman to make offensive plays GASP! Our D is unimaginative and stale. Clear the crease... Get it to a forward... Watch...watch... Blow in zone coverage...with Babs we relied on our forwards a lot... I think we have a great group of forwards but our D is bottom third of the league but that doesn't directly translate to bad GAA... Look at defensive scoring... It's been pitiful since lids trim retired and we used to be tops in the league year after year Having competent scoring from the defense adds a goal per game to our scoring. No successful teams gets absolutely no scoring from their defense

I blame our lack of compete.. Causing turnovers, working to get the puck back. But also our puck movement against good defensive teams. When we can't win the battle in the neutral zone we look really bad. I think our dmen aren't good puck movers... Not good enough to break down the neutral zone trap lots of teams use. When we're connecting through the neutral zone we look like the fastest team in the league

We got outplayed badly and couldn't generate anything offensively. The score was flattering. Same thing against Carolina.. Could not move the puck cleanly through the neutral zone. Canadiens didn't have a ridiculous amount of quality chances but they thoroughly outplayed us, anybody watching could tell they were the much better team

Yup. It sucks we're wasting some fantastic hockey by Z I think some guys are taking Blash's strategy of quick puck movement but not being smart about it. There's a time to go up ice and look for the stretch pass but you've got to be back for support. Offensive zone control has also been a struggle and that's from just getting out worked. Chasing the play

The two losses and the third should have lost game were all because we went up against a team that clogged the neutral zone. We couldn't connect cleanly going up ice and thereby were completely shut down. Not a good sign as most teams are going to try and own the neutral zone every game besides Toronto (sucks) and Tampa who was pretty much just trying to do the same thing as us

I thought the coaches challenge was used? That's what confused me. It being non reviewable made no sense Good thing we laid down and died after that tho

Theirs talent on offense but our D is bottom third of the league bad. Babs got a lot out of them. They didn't score but they weren't a train wreck every night. Counting on Kronner and E as our top pair against top teams is Edmonton style. Blash has to adapt to a team defense approach. We can't play like we have a Subban or Buff because we don't. Not even close. Kronwall would have to battle to be on Winnepegs top four and he's our undisputed #1. We just don't even compare around the league With all our assets and how the defense looks compared to other playoff teams I think Holland finally goes out and gets some help on D. Buff or bust I would love to see how E would do on another team. A 12th round pick forward converted to D as our #2. I guarantee he would work his way down to third pair on any other team. Babs gave that man a career

Ummm I can't remember when we have played this badly over and over again. I think the playoff streak is in jeopardy. A lot of very telling stats define the start of this season. Blash can't make us a puck moving high flying team because we have 1 good puck mover on the back end. Watch how other teams move the puck. Even the bad ones look miles better than us. It's just not our game with this roster. Babs knew it

Ericsson is just getting beat so bad. It's embarrassing I think Blash is going to have to realize his defense is trash and can't move the puck or play defense. New comer Green is by far our best defenseman this season. That shows how bad our group is where anybody can step in and make your vets look like scrubs

This trend of low shots is more than concerning now. We haven't had this many stinkers in a row with babs

We just suck any way you look at it. Top to bottom, offense and defense. Goaltending has been good today but that's it. No fight in them at all. Just keep turning over the puck the same way over and over again
