People are overly excited about AA. I mean if he was 19 and had that rookie season I'd probably care a lot more but theirs a reason he wasn't good in the AHL and it took him until he was 23 to play in the NHL. He's no bust but rationalizing overpaying him as a RFA because he threatened to go to the KHL is a joke and your opinion is wrong. It's just objectively very stupid. No GM would do this. Especially when we keep his rights regardless

Overpaying an RFA who is the worst of the 3 RFA's is not a good place to start with these young players. AA wants more than his league comparables based on his KHL offer. A stupid GM would give in to these demands and then every RFA next contract begins at 3M. I say let him go. The man is a glorified Emerson Etem at this point if he doesn't develop

Datsyuk was probably more skilled and effective when healthy but Z's commitment to staying in the lineup and and being a consistent scorer gives him the edge imo. Last season was such a disaster but Z was an inspiration

Some people like their team win or lose. This place has become unbearable with the needless whining about irrelevant stuff just for the sake of complaining. Hard to imagine Mrazek doesn't improve at all from last season so I think goaltending will be a lot better. Defense I'm not expecting anybody to really take a huge step forward. But guys like Mantha if he is given good minutes all season long could score 30 goals. He has elite potential

It's hard to not be super optimistic in the off season. One surprise breakout season from a player could change the outlook of the teams future very quickly

The team is pretty strong at wing and the forward group is playoff caliber as is imo (Until Z regresses at least). It's just the coaching, defense and goaltending are all major question marks. When those three factors fall flat on their face you're going to be bottom 5 team This last season was an outlier and not the norm. I don't think the team is really as bad as they showed last year. They are bad... just not that bad. Realistically I see the defense and goaltending improving a little bit. I mean it couldn't possibly get any worse I may be remembering wrong but I think Blashill kind of got in a groove after the All Star break. After the playoff hopes were dead. He had the team playing more to their identity

Nyquist just hit career highs in assists and was close to his career high in points. Keep that Nyquist-Z-Tatar line together all season and he would have had the best season of his career

Tatar is very good secondary scorer. Pretty much the exact same player and impact as Hudler

An expiring RFA about to hit UFA status and could walk or ask for a fortune. He's way more valuable to trade with some term attached or else he is just Vanek at the deadline

What's the point of even making this statement? I know you think you got some sort of hot take with this one cause you keep repeating it but the players aren't even in a similar situation at all. Comparing RFA wingers to UFA centers based purely on career PPG % is stupid and a waste of time

Tatar will be worthless if he's awarded a 1 year deal. Pretty much makes him a secondary trade deadline acquisition for other teams instead of a key piece in a trade that could be worthwhile. Tatar and Nyquist are pretty much the only assets they've developed and worth something and if Tatar gets moved for a 3rd at the deadline then that's a big L for Holland. Ideally I'd like 5.5M @ 4 years
