Don't care at all for the ASG save for the skills competition and the hardest shot it's pretty boring. Maybe it's much better when you are experiencing it in person but on the TV it is really meh. Would be nice if they would ditch that stupid Team A and Team B "draft"

The first time I've heard this guy talking was like did I click on a Babcock interview ? He even spells fantastic in the same manner. The thing with AHL coaches is this, very few of them move on to great NHL careers because for some it's too hard to adapt their working system. The Oilers are a perfect example of this, Eakins and his "swarm defense" worked in the AHL because the game is slower, the players aren't as experienced and the talent level isn't that high...but in the NHL his team barely looks ready to compete. I like Blashill a lot but I would prefer having as an assistant coach while learning under Babcock, just as I would have loved seeing Smith learning from the master himself before he retired. That being said, Babcock holds all the leverage here, I would go as far as saying...some teams would fire their coach just to hire him. So the only chance of seeing him staying is: making him the by far highest coach in the business and finally give the guy more saying in whom to bring in.

That's the point if not for those teams there wouldn't be a salary cap.

Blashill has yet to c coach a nhl game. Remember Dallas Eakins? Great ahl resume but can't get the job done in the nhl. There would for sure be some growing pains, stepping right in is hard enough but replacing the by far best coach in hockey is even more daunting. That being said if Babcock walks Blashill will be next in line.

The highest I would go is Jurco plus a pick but Mantha, Goose, Tatar nope or if they include their McEichel pick

Jup and a great contract because he will get both, the only question has been as a Wing or somewhere else and it looks like that has been answered to now.

This is about Babcock not Holland, so I won't discuss his actions or lack there is of during the last years. But personally I believe if both were interested in another contract this thing would have done some time ago.

Thanks :-) I mean watching Mcgrattan and Macintyre square off a few years ago was just a blast, they've put on a show for over one minute both throwing absolute haymakers. Or Orr versus Engelland, these guys are just on a different level when it comes down to fighting and that's why it's way more entertaining watching them.

Money from teams like the Wings ... and a stubborn NHL front office every other league would have long acted. Do I wish that to the (few) loyal fans there ? No it for sure sucks but I'm also sick of seeing the Wings having to pay money they could use on players, instead of being forced to help expansion teams stay in the business. If they would have been the Quebec Panthérs the team would have been moved a long time ago that's for sure.

It always amazes me, how stubborn the NHL is. Going into a bandwagon market knowing there won't be enough supporters...sucks for the fans there but clearly not enough are interested in the team. Now would be a good time to give back would has been stolen from Quebec City. I think the Panthers and Coyotes will be the first sunbelt teams on the move soon, what a million $ and fan heart disaster this whole expansion has been...

No, he hasn't but this thread is about Babcock so I won't discuss the failings of the GM here. But it should be common sense that a GM and coach are working hand in hand in order to get at least players who fit in with the idea of a coach on how he wants to play. No, I also won't stop with something so obvious if it's used to defend something that's out of our coach's control. Wings traded for a player who didn't fit with in so he gets demoted to a bottom 6 role.. Reality is this: Babcock won't negotiate during the season and come July others will talk to him also and that to me is scary. Yes, the team has some upcoming young players but other teams do too and they have superstars in their prime...plus Babcock would have more of a say in whom he wants.

Yes, for sure that was sarcasm, I just wanted to compare it to the relation of an absolute overpayment to one of our players... Boychuk will cash in, period for sure he won't keep up his insane start but the guy is a top 2 pairing defenseman. I'm sure Tavares will try his best to convince him otherwise but why would someone give up his UFA chances ? The upcoming class is very weak and he is is for sure one of the best available ones, it would take some extreme overpayment.

Toffoli 47 overall, Muzzin 143 (5 round) their scouting is pretty good. Well I've also read some Kings fans complaining about the regular season performance I guess some would rather not win the cup and instead "celebrate" some meaningless banners instead of THE banner. but one thing is for sure: if Kopitar keeps this up his salary will heavily increase and with discussions of Anschutz willing to sell...maybe this will free up one of their top players

The good thing is, the Isles have a very cheap owner so if the Wings are serious about getting a top defender Boychuk would be a nice nice addition. Throw 7 x 6 at him and I highly doubt Wang matches it's time for this team to flex their financial muscle again.

I think it's ridiculous and still can't believe why teams aren't speaking up against that crap ? The Red Wings could make much more money by offering a package, heck think about how much the Maple leafs ... could make. My point exactly if you can get Petry in exchange for Weiss, Kindl and also gain a huge amount of capspace - with Boychuk being UFA after this year - Holland has to jump on that trade. The only downside is I don't think Craig MacTavish is stupid enough, to accept such a deal heck give us a 3rd rounder and it's a done deal,

In my mind they should hire someone who has experience in medicine maybe even a degree and played on a higher level before. The only thing Pronger adds, is his ability to tell if the players are lying to him or not but other than that, he adds nothing. Heck hire Stevens for all I care that guy was a vicious open ice hitter and I'm sure he would do a better job than Pronger, at least he isn't tied too much to the Devils.

Um they are legal you are paying money for the service and not some "blackmarket" deal or anything else. an example would be viasat, they are based in Sweden but they also show NHL games.

That has me extremely worried for a couple of reasons: 1. Eastern conference 2. Crosby, Malkin and Letang coached by Babcock ? OUCH for every other team 3. Lemieux and Burkle will send a huge truck full of money to his house and they can offer him all the control he wants, because Rutherford is only there to mentor Botterill and once Botterill takes over he won#t have the legacy of a Ken Holland so that's outright a dream job for Babcock. The Darkhorse in all of this for me are the Blues, they are the perfect Babcock type of team (big, mean and their defense is one of the best in the whole league), plus Pietrangelo will soon be one of the best if not the best defender in the NHL.

Yeah that's true and they are always rushing the kids, I mean Draisaitl has a whooping 2 NHL games and is already their #2 center ? Some of their fans are already screaming for Babcock even if Katz pays a premium he is not going to ruin his legacy by taking over for Eakins.

Well the NHL won't be seeing any money from me thanks to the lockouts and keeping someone in charge who should have been sacked long ago. that being said, there are other legal alternatives to GCL. Just use your searchengine of choice and you'll find them, some are priced equally others are cheaper and offer more quality without blackouts. Friend of mine canceled his subscription this season, because he wasn't satisfied with the quality and especially the lackluster customer service. That being said the best thing would be if teams would finally take care of that business and provide their own services, still can't believe why the RedWings aren't doing that that team has a lot of fans from overseas.
