Callahan, Ferraro and Porter placed on Waivers
frankgrimes replied to WingsallTheway's topic in General
That's another honorable thing he doesn't also I'm not talking about jumping Scuderi (that's too dangerous) but he could have told him, hey we've gotta have a go here. Also Thornton is not my boy I'm just a fan of the way he has handled himself for so long and he contributed wheter people like to admit it or not. As for James Neal at some point someone is going to make him pay, he got away with that stupid stuff for way too long. Happy for Callahan. -
Datsyuk to play Thursday? Weiss to be a healthy scratch?
frankgrimes replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
What did people expect ? It is incredible difficult for young player to make an NHL roster (granted if you aren't some goddamn talent). Pre-season is just an option to see where the prospects are and how much time they are still going to need, making the team is almost near impossible for 80 % of them. That being said what's the point of playing the same defense ? It didn't work last year and for sure won't work this year, so something gotta change here. -

The problem with that is simple: Hartnell is tough but he doesn't strike fear into another guy McGrattan on the other hand does. I don't think he would have asked Scuderi if he wanted to go or not, Scuderi's only choice would have been defend yourself or else...The Penguins don't really have an enforcer they have Bortuzzo big tough kid but I wouldn't call him an enforcer. Still not happy seeing Callahan waived. -

Wow sounds like a lot of "fun" I never liked such behaviour. I mean, yes I'm pro fighting but if others provide reasonable arguments why they don't like it that's fine for me also. Personally speaking I'm just sick of seeing the Wings bullied, pushed around and;or smashed ellbowed for no real reason. Do I think enforcers will change the game on the scoresheet ? No not at all but I believe they can provide some momentum swing. Anyhow back to topic I would have loved Boychuk on that roster, he would have greatly improved our defense and two 2nds plus a third aren't a high price for Johnny B. -
I don't think Leddy is that good, he has played behind an awesome first pairing in Chicago let#s not forget that. Boychuk on the other side becomes instantly their best defenseman I think the Isles will be in the race for one of the two wildcard spots - which isn't good news for the Wings but their fans deserve this.

Nice to hear you are doing well so far. Hopefully when everything is over you are fully painfree

Really cool thanks for posting

Why should I ? Playing a fourth line ! more has nothing to do with or without enforcer. If Carlyle decides 5 ~ 8 minutes are enough for fourth line players, well then they won't be playing more. Playing guys like Miller, Ashton or Lashoff on the fourth line doesn't do much either, so personally I'd rather have some protection and intimidation factor there if things go out of hand. Also Orr, McLaren will be back against the Bruins. While I'm sure Phaneuf, Clarkson and maybe Ashton will drop the gloves if needed, the outcome won't be pretty against guys like Prust, Rinaldo or Neil. Especially Rinaldo is a lose canon, so I expect the Leafs to get bullied. Boston has Lucic, McQuaid and Chara but not only did they lose toughness from Thornton they've also lost Boychuk (will drop the gloves too) so using them as an example may not be the best idea, because Lucic won't back down from anyone and he can really fight. If I where a GM I wouldn't want my best 7 mill a year defenseman having to fight the other teams rats, agitators but I guess Shanahan thinks differently. Wheter that's good or bad is up to each individuals own opnion but I will say this, the first time someone takes serious advantage of not having enforcers in the lineup they'll be back. btw. the Bruins are going to carry an enforcer Robins http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=10502 220lbs, 6'1 and 221 PIMS in 68 games << beast ... Bruins fans can be thankful for Cam Neilly looks like he set Chiarelli straight on that one.

I still want revenge for the abuse Pasha took, period. It shouldn't have been up to a guy like Sam to do that stuff, if McKee would be in the AHL call him up but he isn't so using a guy for 5 minutes if needed, is not the worst thing in the world. Hockey isn't soccer but with the way the game is changing, rats taking over and divers all over the place it's getting closer..which isn't a good thing for guys who like real hockey. Callahan may be an agitator but he isn't a pure rat like Marchand, Burrows -

If only..I mean you can send him to the AHL play sheriff there and when the Leafs, Bruins, Sens or *grrr* Pens with Scuderi are rolling to town call him up. -

Haven't been here long enough, so I don't know anything about these guys but personally I never get too attached to arguments on a forum. I don't care if others think that I'm a debbie downer or whatever, I always try to keep a realistic approach, if others prefer to take the more optimistic thing that's fine also. I mean after all, the forum would be pretty boring and low activity if everyone agreed with everyone right ? I've been on such a forum for 1 month (mods kicked everyone, who didn't share their view of not only hockey but also other non hockey stuff) and the funniest part was those so called "mods" where all from hockey-teams which existed for less than 9 years ! so basically plastic clubs. -
So true, I guess I need to find a new site. SN has a better design but lacks in terms of features and personalities behind TSN so not an option. Going to stick with prohockeytalk for now, going to try to use the old TSN site via google cache as long as that works

Exactly and I think there are more than enough reason to be scared about that, given the last trade activity history. -
Chia and Snow could have played it smart and send two (non waiver eligible guys) to the AHL to create cap space till the season starts, then send Savard to LTR and go on with the trade. Heck I would have rather traded McQuaid (I'm a fan of the guy) and Bartkowski before Boychuck Chia basically ruined their chance of competing for the cup this year.

McGrattan provides leadership and does score some goals here and there too, so the guy is not a liability. I would love to have the next DMac, Probert ... but finding the next Dmac is way harder than adding a player for nothing and play him against teams where he will be needed (Sens, Bruins, Leafs and of course Pens with Scuderi) ? Doesn't matter if its the AHL, NHL I want to see our guns going outthere and being able to safely do whatever they want (like McGrattan phrased it). -
Mark Donnelly Trips Singing O Canada

Laughs but he recovered in great fashion, some of the players just couldn't hold back too funny -
Maybe I'm too stupid but I still can't find anything on this site and on the verge of giving up

Babcock - as a whole - isn't very satisfied with the play of his veterans: http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2014/10/04/risk-factors-detroit-red-wings-edition/ looks like it's put up or shut up time for a lot of our veterans. -

Colton Orr and Frazer McLaren put on waivers today, wonder if we finally take one of the two..whom am I kidding won't happen although both would help our 4 line. -

Poile already won that trade even if Jarnkrok only turns into a solid center. Packaging him for much needed defensive help would have made more sense long term. At some point a trade needs to happen and hopefully it's for top 2 pairing guy in his prime. -
The pre season is mostly used to see where upcoming talents are and if they are ready for the big club. That being said, I think the last two games should show some consistency and improvement. Obviously my prediction isn't based on the pre season and more on the off season (or lack there of) activities. It's basically the exact same roster as last year, the defense just isn't good enough and expecting Goose to repeat his unreal season is unfair... Unless some miracle happens this is the year where the steak ends. As for Jensen, Mrazek too small of a sample size

I would be happy with Roman Josi, great player on a tremendous cap hit, only downside is he isn't physical at all and I'm not sure if he could run the powerplay. But he had offensive upside Maybe our favorite Predsfan can talk about his availability? -
10/4 Final Preseason GDT: Detroit Red Wings vs Boston Bruins

Of course, Chia set the Bruins back with that trade. Which means whoever comes out of the West will again steamroll to the title -

Ferraro and Porter meh but Callahan provides some sandpaper but sadly that skillset isn't wanted it seem. Yeah Nestrasil had a very good pre-season but can we at least keep some NA players instead of adding more skilled but soft - although nice sized - euros ? I mean, a bottom 6 needs different talents than a top 6 player... Hopefully Callahan clears -

Wow, the Bruins are shocked Looch basically sounded pissed he tried hard to hide it, but it was clear. If I where a Bruins fan now I would be absolutely furious about that crap of a return.
