I actually would like to see it happen just to see the reaction once another coach doesn't have much better results. A coach can only work with has been given to him in terms of player material and Blashill doesn't have a number 1 center to work with, no top pairing guy and the best goaltender is out with an injury that's a tough hand especially for a coach in his second season. That being said I would love to see either Gallant or Hitchcock behind the bench. Both aren't player coaches they're hard and demanding and especially Hitchcock demands respect from the first minute, bringing him in would be an actual culture shock for a lot of the players on this team.

Pietrangelo (26), Tarasenko (26), Schwarz (24), Berglund (21) I don't know why they aren't getting the job done in the playoffs but I think their biggest weakness is goaltending and thanks to letting Backes, Brouwer walk also a lack of identity. They used to be a physical heavy team now nobody knows what they are because with those two losses the only guy willing to stand up for his players is Reeves. I think if they finish without the playoffs this season they should take a hard look at the composition of the roster and shake things up, maybe that collective isn't just the right combination who knows. But in terms of stars and age their top guys aren't even in their prime yet.

I've also said many times that the Canucks, Wings are first in line followed by Boston and the Rangers. Also even if they don't that doesn't change anything for the Wings. This team needs a lot of things and you can't fix it with shortcuts that's the reality. I'm not sure but I think at some point Hitchcock was part of Babs' stuff wheter it was Olympics or WCH can't remember. But the man has experience, knows how to coach a system and is not going to accept an half ass effort or any diva like attitude problems at all. Maybe this team doesn't know how to benefit from a players coach if so fine, let's show them some tough love and Hitchcock would for sure deliver that. If the Wings want the guy they better be quick because the Isles, Vegas (at some point) and maybe even Boston if they fire Julien will be looking for a coach. Yes it is, Vanek needs to be traded there is no way around it. Also people are making a much bigger deal out of this expansion draft than it needs to be. The Wings aren't going to lose someone who can be part of the rebuild, so I really wouldn't worry too much. Come trade deadline some rosters will look very different. There is no doubt in my mind that Z will be protected, Kronner will soon be on LTIR, thanks to handing out ntc and nmc like candies some veterans will need to be protected.
