Looking at the upcoming UFA list is so depressing: Forwards (sorted via goals) & Defenseman (sorted via TOI) Didn't know Iginla is having that good of a season really happy for him and it just proves, Bylsma really didn't use him the right way. Anyway, like I said I would try to target Moulson or maybe Cammalerie As far as defenders the list is even more depressing Amac, Niskanen and maybe Tom Gilbert could help out but they are far from top pairing guys

Well statistics are just that, the fact is this: the team is no longer controlling it's own faith so they need to play their best hockey AND hope that other teams are struggling. Will it happen? I don't think so but till they aren't mathematically out there's always a chance.

So we have an Original 6 matchup tonight and the front page on tsn is loaded with Roy and Montreal *lol* If Babcock is really trying Smith at the forward position we'll have a problem, because the defense will be even worse. not playing Tootoo when you face Orr, McLaren and Brodie is very risky not that he would have had a chance against either one, but at least provide some energy.

Thats exactly what some of us were saying for a few years now. The streak is incredible impressive but I would gladly see it ending if it means serious house cleaning. I guess Burke once said making the playoffs is nice but getting your ass kicked by the top seeds isn't and that's exactly what would happen if this team faces Boston or Pittsburgh. The bigger issue for me though would be Holland his "without our injuries we would have been cup contenders look at what this injury hurt team accomplished!" - no more of that please. Please don't re-sign Alfie, Clearly, Berutzzi, Sammuelson..Legwand only if the term is right, period. As for forwards I think Moulson would be a nice choice, cheaper and younger as Vanek and could provide a nice stop gap. He did very well with Tavares so I am sure he could do well with Z or Pasha too but the biggest need will be size and defense and of course no one of any interest is available

Mule just focus on your job on the ice, do that well and let the real leaders run the show please. Whats next Alfie and Legwand speaking out? The last thing this team needs is more drama or wannabe leaders.

Losing this game = Leafs are more than out of reach I have absolutely no expectations save for an honest effort of course.

I'm not talking about the cap, more about some assets. Hate to bring up the Legwand trade up again but if you package Jarnkrok + a good pick + a B level prospect maybe Buffalo would have started listenting ? I get it I really do, our centers are hurt and this team is having a hard time right now but this trade was only a shortterm fix, the main focus should have still been on the defense. This season is toast anyways I mean even if they make the playoffs facing Pittsburgh or Boston with that defense? Oh my. What Holland can and needs to do differently is getting his priorities straight, he seems to be overpaying for depth but not for real good players for whatever reason. Also creating a fourth line others teams respect and fear really isn't too much to ask for, those guys aren't expensive and plenty of them can be found around the league. He just has to stop this stupid notion that a fourth line needs to rack up points that's simple not what a fourth line is supposed to do. I agree with you about the cap NHL hockey has never been this unexciting in terms of UFA, trade deadline and even draft days maybe at some point the NBA, NFL commissioner will be moving on, so a certain new york weasellike lawyer can ru(i)n another league. Please don't think I'm not thankful for what Holland has done, he did a lot of great things for this franchise but I think it's time for a "fresh" approach and a different type of Wingsteam, because let's be honest even if we would get Vanek/Moulson non of them is skilled to play the puck posession style. Also I don't see it as threatening his job he wouldn't be fired just moved up to become the VP so basically THE guy responsible for checking the GMs moves (boss).

Well I am not that upset because I expected a loss. Personally I've said it last year an I'll say it again it was a good run but it is really time for some serious changes. This has nothing to do with making the playoffs or not it simply can't be the Wings goal to just squeeze into the playoffs. This team went from: being the superior class of the NHL to a good team to behind the pack to a team fighting for the playoffs....that's not Wingsstyle it's unacceptable, period. Players are expected to perform to the highest levels night in and night out so should GMs. If I am the owner I'm telling Holland listen: This is your offseason to turn this team into the right direction, we need to get bigger, meaner and the defense needs a fix spend whatever it takes just do it...if you aren't willing to do so I am more than happy to promote you to become VP and let Steve Yzerman run the show. Maybe missing the playoffs will be the best possible outcome longterm, because no more signing over the hill and undersized guys it would (hopefully) lead to housecleaning. Imagine if this team would have been still in the west they might be competing with the Oilers, Flames...for one of the top 5 picks *lol*

Nothing wrong with such a deal but to me the way more important thing would be getting a NMC/NTC asap. That way a player even at such a young age can control his destiny if things aren't going well for him. As for Danny I cringe everytime trying to imagine how this defense would be looking without him.

Philly is playing back to back against Pittsburgh and then Chicago - so far from an easy schedule Wigns Chicago, Toronto and Pittsburgh pretty comparable to me, whichever team gets more points out of this is going to make the playoffs would be my guess. Anything under 3 points out of the next 3 games should signal one thing mail it in for a better draft pick and play more kids from the Rapids.

The Blues are such an easy team to cheer for in the West, built the right way, big tough and mean and all that done with a shoestring budget, unbelievable. God I miss the days of having Lidstrom Rafalski in front of Hasek, The Russian 5 plus the bash brothers...and the captain as our leader man hockey post 2005 is just laughable compared to pre 2005.

Keep in mind Stamkos has been hurt for a long period of time, he was the only one who really could give Crosby a run forh is money. Other than that I really don't care that much, I think 2:1 games are more exciting than tones of goals because then goals aren't as important as in tight games.
