Marty St. Louis wants out because The Captain hurt his feelings
frankgrimes replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
Well I've read somewhere that MSL got pissed again, because he didn't get enough first line minutes on Crosbys line serioulsy if that's the case f*** you MSL. I mean, you are on a team loaded with superstars and you are not entitled to anything if Crosby at Toews are working their asses off on the defensive side of the game you better do it too. Want to be mad at someone? Be mad at your coaches the GM jobs isn't to play Jini for you spoiled LITTLE brat. Glad Y robbed Sather big time, f*** you MSL++ -

Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd

Weber, Jossi, Jarnkrok, Forsberg, Rinne and now soon another good forward draft pick the best be looking out the Predators are building a powerhouse team. If their ownership allows Poile to spend to the cap the west will be looking at another St. Louis Blues team very soon what a conference wow. -

Holmer left and he never replaced him one of the most underrated retirements ever. Overpaying for depth instead of stars won't fix anything. Come off season a defenseman needs to wear a winged jersey next season. -

Man man didn't cry but a few tears here and there. A perfect celebration for the perfect human seems fitting. This will be the last retired number reminding us of possible the greatest Wings era ever. Not going to watch the rest of the game. ps: the Truckthing was kinda lame don't let sponsoring destroy such a special event. -
I've said in the 43 Pages thread and I'll said it again, it's nothing against him. Welcome to The Red Wings and I'll hope you enjoy your stay here.

Words can't describe how fortunate I feel having watched this guy play for so many years. At earliest days my internet bill went up crazy but who cares. -

The thing with LA 12 is this: Before the start of the regular season many people had them as one if not the cup favorite, LA simply underachieved in the regular season then added Carter and got hot at the right time. Their situation is different in so many ways: - goaltending: elite - defense: WOW - middle: size, grit and goalscoring touch LA is perfectly built for the playoffs. Throwing in the towel doesn't mean to cheer for losing (at least for me) it just means accepting reality and thinking about the longterm future. Good thing you've brought up the Maple Leafs remember their JF he traded away youth for shortterm fixes and what happened? They've foudn themselves outside of the playoffs for almost a decade. Burke got fired there for a lot of understandable reasons, he is more concerned about his image in the press than the team, players he is representing. I'm not a fan of him (think he is arrogant and a showman) but I give credit where its due. We may also differ in our expectations of what a fourth line should be/provide. Personally I would want them to be knuckleheads, big mammoths (Macintyre, McGrattan, Scottlike..) and as tough as they come preferable 3 enforcers in order to keep the Cookes, Cowens!!!! and Neils of this league in check and honest. The benefits are a very cheap serious 4 line other teams will fear AND more importantly more money for your more important top 9. So in this case yes, I do agree with Burkie. Mark my words the Kesler situation will turn out to become Luongo #2, Gillis (again) tried to played GMs against each other and lost. Now he has to use his old "we didn't get serious offers" BS in order to save face. Yesterday would have been the day to trade Kesler his value will never be as high Gillis simply blew it. I would give Holland credit, if Nyquist would have started the season with the Wings the youth and Dekeyser (who thanks god wanted to be a Red Wing) saved his ass last season. Saying the kids are NOW the answer is nice but why trade away our best center prospect? This just doesn't make sense to me. At least to me the streak is not more important than the longterm future and if the youth is used as assets package them and fix the damn defense. Trust me when I say this, I want this franchise to be a cup contender every single year but I also know the reality and the reality is this team is getting up their in age quickly with that more and more injuries will happen. This is also the reason, why I think better (lower) draft picks are so important at some point we need to replace two superstar centers -
NHL reverses part of penalty to Devils for Kovalchuk cap circumvention
frankgrimes replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
Well I think both cases are legal, because there is no legal proof for intent. If you allow 14 years might as well allow 17 years or whatever this contract would have been. At the end I still can't believe that owner agreed to this recapture BS. -

Quick! I'm so funny I need to use pseudo hashtags and have no other arguments. I'm sure Holland could need some positive apoligist letters today might as well copy it 1.000 times and thank him as often ... If you can't get your point accross without using personal insults might as well say nothing, seriously. btw. longterm future > streak -

Going to watch the ceremony for sure but not the game. I have a feeling they are going to blow this special day for our #5 by losing so I'd rather end it on a high note. Man watching this guy for the last time at the JLA will be so tough. Lidas could still play and would be hands down our best defender. -
Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd
frankgrimes replied to gcom007's topic in General
I respect your opinion like everyones else but the point for me is: This season is toast, Pasha and Z are hurt IF they return for the playoffs (if we make them) both are going to have some catchup to do during the hardest part of the season. We are not going to win anything this year so I would be fine with missing the playoffs and get a better draft pick in an already - according to some TSN experts - weak one. Last season Holland said, every team wants the next Lucic and more size, grit and toughness but such guys need to be developed, well Burke, Mac Tavish are just trading for them. Grit, Toughness and size is the easiest part to fix and yet Kenny has failed in doing so since the days of Dmac and Downey - unexcusable. He likes our youth? Now he does before the season the guy was quoted saying "the kids aren't the answer" if not for the injuries Nyquist would still be playing in the AHL and Tatar would have pulled a Kovalchuck. I'm extremely worried about the upcoming draft and UFA period now. I can see it Mantha for Jagr and a second rounder. Sure a guy like Ehrhoff would have had a higher pricetag but fixed our weakest spot = puck moving defenceman who isn't atrocious in his own end. Holland did some great things for this franchise, as did Bowmann but I think it's time for him to move up for a guy with almost endless resources given by the best owner he should have done a better job, period. As for Kesler I'm glad we didn't trade for him the price would have been to high and the guy is for sure looking for a big raise think about 7 x 7 after his contract is done. -

frankgrimes replied to gcom007's topic in General
Like I said for me its not about Legwand I like him but I'm getting sick of Holland and his mojo: - we are only making hockey deals --> this was highway robbery by Poile so the opposite from a hockeydeal - throwing kids under the bus to make himself look better or like a genius for no good reason - says you can't fix one of the teams biggest problems toughness, grit well Burke, Mactavish fixed it within weeks - he now likes our youth and what is he doing ? Trades away our best center prospect yeah Jarnkrok needs to bulk up and put on some serious muscle but the kid is 20 plenty of time to do that Still wanna get rid of the kid? Fine package him for some much needed defensive help you know someone like Ehrhoff, Myers or use Vancouvers firesale to your advantage a get a guy like Hamhuis or Bieksa (maybe both) here. This is not the mastermind we are used to. Between 2009 and 2014 something has changed. Thanks for all the great work Holland but now I'm wishing you would have retired with Lidström and made room for another guy. -
NHL reverses part of penalty to Devils for Kovalchuk cap circumvention
frankgrimes replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
I fine with this. Think about it, the Devils DID NOT circumvent the cap because the contract wasn't allowed so how can you punish something that didn't happen yet? Unless of course you are a time traveling T 1000. -
Shutdown the first line Kings, Blues or Bruins style and well add to that our unreal defense I'm sure the contenders are already in fear of potentially playing us.

Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd
frankgrimes replied to gcom007's topic in General
Same here nothing against Legwand. This has to do with Holland and his mistakes adding up extremely quicky and for sure the uncertainty of our future past Z and Pasha. as for putting on weight well I know exactly what you are talking about I had to work my butt off in the gym and just couldn't put on weight ( = adding muscles) without taking some very good Whey gainers, creatin and other stuff. I'm also a bit taller so putting on weight takes even more time but these are professional athletes they have access to stuff we'll never get so I think putting on weight should be easier for them. -

Yeah I mean move up and become vice president of hockey operations, let the Captain, Lombardi, Shero or Chiarelli take over for him. -
Well in hindsight neither of the two is a good signing so far, that's for sure. Chris Stewart didn't get along with Hitchcock him and Babs would absolutely hate each other after two weeks tops so I understand not going after him. Although for a franchise with so much resources it's a bit of a shame that we can't get any superstars to sign here or at least stars and sorry that's on Holland.

I remember a certain other fanbase stating things like "don't wory we have Iginla and Kipper" as long as we have those two we are going to be fine, we just need to draft their replacements well so far they haven't and look were they are. -

So very well deserved bummer to not see the Ilitch family attending this great ceremony. The Captains ceremony set the bar incredible high St. Nick deserves the same. Man I for sure will shed a tear one of the last reminders of the best hockeyera ever. God wish I could be 2002 all over again. -

frankgrimes replied to gcom007's topic in General
Like he knew how to handle Tatar in the AHL or Nyquist right ? Without injuries none of them would have been on the roster. Let's see in the offseason what Nyquist does if he bolts to Sweden the trade looks a bit better if not highway almost insane robbery. While we are at it I'm sure Jagr, Brodeur are free agents at the end of the year so maybe we can sign them and put out the oldest team in the league 38+ here we come woohoo Accept other opinions...or go away. If there isn't an acception of retooling/rebuilding soon we are going to end up like the Flames, having to trade way over the hill players for peanuts. -
Well well I remember friends were calling me some names because I wanted Hossa over The Mule back then and already thinking about retooling. Good moves in terms of UFA during the last years Dekeyser (wanted to be here), Alfie the only reason he is here is because his owner is very cheap and tight on his internal budget, otherwise there is no way Alfie changes teams and I think everyone knows it (even if its just deep down). Weiss has been coming off a serious injury and almost missed a full shortened season and yeah let's offer him 5 million per without even knowing, how is recovery is coming along AND if he fits the system. Yeah Clarkson is having a horrible season but he at least plays and tries hard..The first thing Babcock mentioned after the signing was "let's see how he fits with our system" does this sound like a GM and coach are on the same page ? I doubt it. Whenever Babocks contract is up I don't think he is going to stay here, why should he the guy will have another job with a contender in a blink of a second.

Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd
frankgrimes replied to gcom007's topic in General
Personally the only way of this making sense is Jarnkrok being dead set on going home if not highway robbery by Poile. The predators are coming along nicely Forsberg, Jarnkrok another great pick this year the west shouldn't underestimate this team. As for Holland, thanks for everything you've been one of the best in the past but please give the reigns someone else. I hope come off season we send a boat load of money to the captain and let him reebuild this team. Without Nyquist, Tatar, Dekeyser this team would have been boring to watch and is filled with stopgaps and we all know baring all the injuries neither Nyquist nor Tatar would have been up Tatar would have left and joined an SEL or KHL team... I am asking this again because I just don't see a point in making the playoffs if the chances are so heavily against you, what's the point of making the stupid playoffs screw the "streak" I'm interested in building for the future. Yeah let's sell our only potential future top 6 center so Pittsburgh and Boston are getting a chance to sweep us and destroy us ... good plan Holland nah superb plan .. That's exactly why I would have been fine with standing pat if you trade Jarnkrok plus the return better be something like Ehrhoff you know a big f****** need. Already nervous about the draft I can see it now Nyquist, Mantha and a first for Jagr.
