NHL players will not participate in 2018 Olympics (Mod Post #99)
frankgrimes replied to DatsyukianDekes's topic in General
The NHLPA would have thanks god something to say about that. Making a pre tournament event mandatory in the summer ? Good luck with that what if the newly signed top UFA is getting hurt ? Finland, Russia, Switzerland and Sweden would still sent a pro team the only ones losing are the US And Canada and nobody can honestly tell me, Hockey Canada would accept getting destroyed after back to back golds. Also I think by the time the next olympics are happening we are going to see a hockeyguy running the show, so yes the players will go -
Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

Kings or Blues bound I would say Next ones Hodgoson, Myers and Ehrhoff after that their team will be historically bad like desasterous. -

Shut him down for the regular season and if this team makes the playoffs see what he can provide fully healthy. Why risk further injury? Guy is obviously not the differense between a cup and no cup -

A key who would only cost signing the contract would be McLaren tough guy and decent fighter willing to drop the gloves against anybody. Leafs (WTF) did put him on waivers today, they gonna regret this as soon as the Bruins are coming to town. -
I think it's going to be a depth signing, nothing too fancy and I'm fine with that. For the right price Ehrhoff would be nice other than that overall I am expecting a very quiet trade deadline especially if Vanek is dealt early. Sent from my BlackBerry

Marty St. Louis wants out because The Captain hurt his feelings
frankgrimes replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
Won't work he has full NTC clause and according to reports he would only waive it for the Rangers. -
I think the smart thing would be to turn it into a public skating indoor arena and of course rentable for future hockey teams, a city can't have enough hockey rinks

Marty St. Louis wants out because The Captain hurt his feelings
frankgrimes replied to unsaddleddonald's topic in General
I'm trying to look at this as unbiased as I can - which is obviously hard because it involes two of my favorite players - so: Martin Saint Louis: A guy who has been doubted his whole career, played his heart out for this franchise and would have been a snub two times in a row with his own GM being the boss of team Canada. It's like a girl telling you you can have her if things are going south with her current boyfriend and once that happens she is choosing AGAIN another one over you --> everyone would be pissed. Stevie Y: Turned the Bolts around in no time, doesn't want to act like a dictator and tell the other members Marty is on the team, period. Just another testament to what a class act this guy is. So if I'm an 38 old MSL this would be my last chance at the olympics and therefore olympic Gold would I be pissed ? For sure getting snubbed one time is hard but two times I wouldn't sit well with me. If I'm Stevie Y should I really risk pissing off the other members by forcing them to take a guy they don't see as a fit ? Tough call. MSL has to keep one thing in mind though if it weren't for his GM he would not have a gold medal yet because there is no way Stevie would pass on him for a third time. I really hope these two are figuring it out and he will remain a Bolt guy is pure class and deserves to have his number retired in Tampa. -
Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

From Gillis point of view he can do better than that. Especially compared to how much Shero gave up last year for some pure rentals. Also Kesler for his size is diving way too much I don't like that and I fully understand why he would want out Torts is just too demanding especially with his shot blocking. Why would Keeper waive his ntc to come here? Guy wants to win a cup and this team isn't a contender regardless if he's on the roster or not. this will be very shallow trade deadline because once again its a sellers market and the prices are too high for most Gms. -
Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?
frankgrimes replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Maybe but that doesn't help their defense. Even an amazing top 6 wouldn't enough to overcome their defensive shortcomings. There is a reason why annual contenders are building from the net out. Anyway go for it Shero and be another third round exit hero. Pittsburgh is also ruining their future core by trading them away like nothing. -

frankgrimes replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Kesler is a guy a team adds to put them over the top = the range of cup favorites something the Wings are years away from being. Getting Kesler would mean see you to a first and one of Nyquist, Tatar, Sheahan + B level prospect = no thanks as a rebuilding/tooling team. The defense is barely good enough to hang onto a wildcard spot so instead of adding offense this team needs a top 4 that deserves the name. -

Standing pat none of the available guys can put this team over the top and the price for Myers would probably be too high -
Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?
frankgrimes replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
For what exactly? For another non Stanley cup, because Kesler is far from what they need. Yeah Shero go for it and waste another year of Crosby and Malkin. The penguins need defense and as long as they aren't improving their biggest weakness no offensive power is going to help them. Also Kesler would only be a number 3 center on their team just like here so no wax something like him accepts that. -

Pat LaFontaine Resigns as Pres of Hockey Op. for Buffalo
frankgrimes replied to Son of a Wing's topic in General
Weird timing but if the GM and president of hockey aren't on the same page something gotta give. Maybe Benning would have been the better choice? I feel bad for Pegula he is investing so much money into this team and they are complete mess and now even their management is playing might games. If I were him I'd clear house and make sure that the highly paid front office is on the same page. -
Ryan Miller, Steve Ott traded to St. Louis Blues
frankgrimes replied to Namingway's topic in General
Ott is also a veteran with a good locker room presence something that can not be said about Stewart. If Ryan Miller behind Bouwmeester - Pietrangelo isn't scary than I don't know what is. -
Ryan Miller, Steve Ott traded to St. Louis Blues
frankgrimes replied to Namingway's topic in General
Who has ever heard about Carrier before? They haven't given up much also the first is conditional if Miller re-signs OR they at least make it to the conference finals to me the deal is fair and a win-win for both clubs, but the Sabres are running the risk offturning into the oilers = lots of good picks but no veterans to guide them. -
Kesler - Edler << the asking price will be too high everyone knows it. Gillis is always trying to bend other GMs over yet he doesn't succeed at it Stewart no thanks, locker room cancer doesn't get along well with Hitchcock so he for sure WONT do well with Babcock either Ehrhoff yes, if the price isn't too high and Buffalo eats a bit of salary.

Ryan Miller, Steve Ott traded to St. Louis Blues
frankgrimes replied to Namingway's topic in General
Army is building an unreal team down there, gritty tough an elite defense and goaltender and all that with a limited budget and without tanking huge respect for this work. Reaves, Backed and Ott the Hawks are toast now and I love it already -
Ryan Miller, Steve Ott traded to St. Louis Blues
frankgrimes replied to Namingway's topic in General
The curse of the captain continues the last 3 three captains have all been traded after a few months. The only remaining veterans are Ehroff and Myers now. So their rebuild is going the Edmonton road very quickly -

frankgrimes replied to Namingway's topic in General
Atta boy such highend robbery by Army: Their top prospects still remain with the team and they've just got an elite goaltender and a gritty forward for a very low first rounder. Cup contenders for sure go Blues"! -
All I can say, thanks god. Would I want another good ol Michigan boy here? Sure. Would I want Kesler at the expense of Nyquist, Tatar, Mantha or a first ? Nope. Glad, we are out of the Vanek and Moulson bidwar neither would put this team over the top and this team is not at the point, where rentals high expensive rentals would make sense.

gdt 2/27 GDT : Red Wings 6 at Senators 1, Franzen w/Hat Trick
frankgrimes replied to dat's sick's topic in General
There is a certain guy named Steve MacIntyre in the AHL Neil wouldn't even look at our players with this guy in the lineup. Could easily be had for a fourth rounder I guess. Nice win but this team needs to add some serious swagger and mean streak
