wouldn't say so because it's the same a lot of times, kid comes into the league, does great and some people are starting to get unrealistic expectations. Part of Larkin struggling is other teams are much more prepared and aware of him and he is transitioning to center. Tatar, Goose are what they are 2 solid players who given their draft position turned out be real good for the Wings.

Jimmy Howard "Out awhile" - Coreau called up (again).

sucks a lot seeing the MVP miss some time. Coreau here is your chance let's see what he can do at the highest level

    2017 Draft

Tell them to get lost and care what th y wish for. The wings do have Hakan Anderson and if he works his magic with a few elite picks the Wings could be building something to take the league by storm again.

I guess you need game center in order to get some GR games? Since the Wings are so boring to watch I would love to watch some AHL prospects but haven't found a way to do it which is sad.

    Ken Holland's Achievements

Leafs, Rangers and even the Habs had higher payrolls back then. Buying the cup to me means: The cup has a price and you pay it without playing. Even if a team has the best roster by far the players still need to go out and do it, they need to be a team and not just a collection of very well paid superstars. Best example of that would be team Canada I mean Bergeron as a fourth line center? And yet everybody buys in. Tldr: there is no buying the cup

    The MANtha watch.....

I honestly don't care about on pace, he is a rookie who is playing a good game and still learning. One of the few bright spots in my mind. If he scores 15 plus that's just a bonus. Last years playoffs would have been the best thing for him learning from the magic man

If he doesn't get his game on track both will be gone or traded. Right now there really can't too many untouchables outside of Larkin, Mantha, Dekeyser and maybe AA.

Fully agreed I don't think he is a bad coach, Blashill is just in a bad situation he doesn't have the experience of the top NHL coaches and his roster is bad. Just look at Bednar and you can see how hard it is for rookies although that guy has Landeskog, Duchene, MacKinnon and Berry on his roster. If Blashill is seen as the right guy for the the young players if not bring in someone else like you've said.

Babs and even The perfect human said, Stevie would speak up but only if it was absolutely mandatory. I mean if you have a leader like him words aren't needed because his play on the ice did all the talking. Best and hardest working player by far. God I hope the Red Bird is landing in Tampa filled with money when his contract is up, he is the only one capable of fixing this mess. I'm not saying fire Blashill but could the Wings at least contact Gallant and see where things are? Heck add Hartley as an advisor just bring in some outside knowledge

    Jeff Blashill

He played like crap and whether people like it or not, so far Howard has been much better. In fact he has been the Wings best player so far. Also this is the Blashill not the Mrazek thread

I think Larkin and Mantha will be a notch above everyone else. Larkin has the potential to become a solid top 6 center maybe not elite but hopefully close to it. If Mantha could become a bigger, feisty version of Kessel that would be fantastic but sadly that might be pushing it. Sproul, Marchenko and XO at best will be second third pairing tweeners. In terms of Lil Bert and company really no idea but I guess something like a gritty bottom 6 guy should be realistic.

    Who's to blame?

Bowman has shown the willingness to get ahead of problems. He knew he couldn't resign Saad, Shaw and boom they got traded giving the Hawks assets to work with while their core is still in their prime. Holland has not shown the same willingness, he rather lets players walk for nothing or is willing to trade young players for 2 months of veteran service. Of course Bowman has a huge advantage because the best GM ever is giving him advise in Scotty Bowman. Second part you are right if the Wings didn't want Chychrun then the point is moot, otherwise of course a very bad trade. Holly cow Nielsen has a NMC for the first 2 years also. If I were Holland (I know armchair GM), I would let it be known that I'm open to listening to offers and would try to get in touch with whoever the Vegas GM is telling him the Wings would expose Green if they are willing to offer a nice pick. That way Vegas gets a veteran defenders and the Wings a second rounder. Last part yes we can for sure agree on that because this defense needs all the help they can get.

No one loses but Red Wings

See that's the differense between us. Not that you are wrong you just have a different view on how to fix that team than I and some others do, which is more than ok because boards need discussions. You may think I'm cheering against this team but I view it as cheering for this teams longterm success. Of course there are no guarantees but I'd rather take my chance with a guy like Patrick (alotugh that injury history...), Liljegren, Foote aso. knowing that the scouting stuff led by Hakan Anderson can do tremendous things than hoping another mid first rounder or even second rounder might turn out better than expected because we all know most of them won't see the NHL for at least 2 years. And that is too long given that Z and Kronner are on their last legs. I don't honestly know what Holland wants or can do but the results so far are speaking for themselves, he is saying something and then does the other thing and is quick to blame everything and everyone but not himself. True that and I would be very(!) happy with a top 10 pick but of course getting a top 5 pick would be even better.

No one loses but Red Wings

Need the Isles, Sabres, Canucks and Avs to start winning because the top 5 picks will be between them and the Wings. But seems like the Avs will need a miracle to even move up 2 spots they are dead last in the entire league now,.

    Who's to blame?

Which is also a huge reason why I've lost interest in this league. I miss fights, linebrawls, bonecrushing hits and yes, even so called superteams and dynasties. Back in the 80s and early 90s everyone wanted to beat the Oilers, Rangers, Habs and then the Wings took over rivalries and leagues are thriving by trying to beat the best of the best. It's not just because the Wings are a shadow of their former self but they aren't allowed to use the endless pockets of Mr. I. I mean, if a team would be crazy enough to offer #97 a blankcheck of 200 million for 10 years why not? If an owner is willing to spend that so be it. It's a shame that being an Original 6 team means nothing because the teams that keep this league alive are the O 6 teams plus teams like Philly, Vancouver and of course Pittsburgh as long as they have Sid the Kid. BUT every GM knows the current rules if you can't get the elite players because they are staying with their teams you have to get them via trade or draft no other way to do this. Hoping that some secondary players turn into stars or elite guys because it worked before isn't the way to go forward and I'm kinda sick of Holland's rethoric. He is quick to put to blame on everything and everyone but not himself but he is the guy calling the shots and so far he hasn't been able to fix the defense, looks like his coaching choice could be the wrong one and he is out of answers, so if this guy is allowed to stay as GM then the owners are to blame for the sorry state of this team too, no other way around it. The sad reality is: the Wings are getting punished for being TOO succesful for TOO long I mean wtf? Usually success gets rewarded and Wings fans should say "hell yeah we accept this sorry state and continue to support this crappy league by watching and going to games paying a premium?" - Personally I don't think so, I would love if Chris or Mr. I himself would speak up against the current setup of this league. TSN had an insider session last year were they've mentioned Bowman, Lombardi and Holland as the currently highest paid GMs sadly no numbers were given out but I guess it's accurate. Given that coaches make around 3 million I guess Holland makes at least the same if not more. And for that kind of money his results have been underwhelming at best 1 good signing in Dekeyser, not 1 in words not one trade to help this team longterm and then of course his July 1 blunder: stating the Wings won't trade young talent to get rid of Pashas contract...and then he trades Chychrun and signs a veteran to a ridiculous 6 year deal.

    Who's to blame?

It's a hard league Holland really? Everyone knows that you are paid the big bucks to work some magic that other (so called "lesser") GMs aren't able to pull of. The Wings aren't the only team in this position? Right but the Wings are an Original 6 franchise used to be the class of this damn league. To me these quotes show exactly why Holland isn't the right guy for a rebuild, he has no experience is in over his head and other this his usual kicking the tires, talking about the salary cap and other teams he is out of ideas. The sad thing he has handcuffed the new GM with lots of bad veteran contracts which won't make the rebuilding job any easier. Hopefully he is saying the same things to Chris or Mike and they finally decide to promote or fire this guy till he sets the rebuild back even further. If Chris and/or Mike decide to keep him as GM they are also to blame for the state this team is in.

    Who's to blame?

Holland he has become a stale and delusional GM. He knew the clock was ticking on Lids and when Parise and Suter decided to sign elsewhere he didn't have a plan B and has since been unable to fix the defense. Traded away picks for 2 months of veteran services and then decided to bring in another longterm over 30 year contract this off-season instead of taking the much needed defenseman who fell due to injury problems. Also Holland was the guy only interviewing Blashill and nobody else. Ownership has provided all the resources needed but of course it would be nice if fixing the Wings would be their number 1 priority again.

    The Dead Wings.

Since you are the best with making stuff up you should have an easy time creating CAPS ones by yourself instead of adding something to the discussion... guess some hardcore fans are now mad that those who wanted a rebuild for years have been right and now they can't even admit it. This team being bad wasn't by design this was supposed to be a competitive team and it cost the Wings a promising pick, added another long-term contract. If the past is still relevant so are the countless mistakes which have led to this. Patrick not making team Canada is a downer would have loved to see what this guy can do if fully healthy

That guy went to Edmonton, it would have been Loooch.

    The Dead Wings.

Good luck with that, especially now that the 200 million taxpayer funded arena is coming up. There will be an increase maybe not as drastic as in Edmonton thanks to the perfect storm of McJesus, getting Puljujarvi and their new building. It's almost comical and shocking how comparable the situation in Vancouver and Detroit is.

12/15 LGW GDT : Kings 4 at Red Wings 1

I hope Lombardi stays a bit longer and lectures Kenny on how to approach a rebuild. Blashill also could use some tips when it comes down to structure from Sutter.

No one loses but Red Wings

That's exactly my point Mr. I is providing a ton of resources (spending to the cap), add the huge scouting stuff, top notch gagdets and what not. I don't care how rich someone is but if it were me and someone told me all that anti rebuild stuff and basically wasting my money I would have some hard questions. Imagine if Holland had to GM a budget team with less resources.

12/15 LGW GDT : Kings 4 at Red Wings 1

Nobody said that but changes need to be made at the top. Holland never had to endure a rebuild, so obviously he has no experience and it shows. The problem is, some of the contracts given out on July 1 will make it tough to unload them. Who is going to take on Nielson? That's not a signing a team in for a rebuild should make, heck unless there are superstars stay away from July 1. Last year would have been a good time for some changes at least now even the biggest fans have come to terms with reality. Holland should work the phones and see what the offers for Green, Vanek are and hopefully create a bidding war for them. Prospects, Picks will be needed more than anything

Mr. I can't be happy if his task was making the playoffs because this cap team doesn't look like they'll make it. If Chris really is pro rebuild he can't be happy either so at least Hollands seat will get warmer. But of course the sad reality is Blashill will get the axe first
