Sure there are positives another step closer to a really good draft pick and that's exactly what this team needs. Even Craig Custance seems to agree. Glad I didn't waste my time watching this game highlights are enough.

Blashill tinkering with lines after Tampa loss
frankgrimes replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I'm sure Holland is watching he just doesn't know how to do really assess the situation of his team. Blashill can tinker all he wants the given material will be overmatched against any team that has a number one center or a top pairing defense. -

The former apprentice will show his old master how it's done.. Wings 2 (Larkin, Nielson), Tampa 5 (Stammer 2, Kucherov, Hedman and Callahan) AA as a 13 forward and Mantha not even in the lineup ******* unreal. -
Official 2016 Detroit Red Wings Offseason Thread

And so it begins, a lot of teams will regret passing on this guy. -
Sorry for the late answer (very busy time atm), nope I don't follow Baseball I tried but for whatever reason there are too many minutes were absolutely nothing happens. As far as I'm concerned Mr. I owns the NBA, NFL and MLB teams from Detroit too right? That's exactly my concern I wish he would focus on making the Red Wings great again, the MLB doesn't have a salary cap so it should be easier to make that team a strong contender. The problem for me is, that Holland doesn't seem to have a clear direction in mind. If you want to go for it, go for it fine...but if not don't just be a middle of the pack team be bad and build something that can sustain itself for a long period of time. My fear is that the Wings might become the Canucks of the east...I know a lot of you don't share that opinion but looking at the rosters it's pretty close...Wings have 1 (in words one) highend talent (Larkin), Canucks have Horvat...Wings have one bonafide top pairing guy (Dekeyser), Canucks have Tanev...other than that both teams are pretty thin prospectwise. I fully agree with your assessment, this would have been a great year to let AA and Mantha learn the ropes of the NHL game, As far as Winnipeg I have a feeling at least one team will meet their asking price, Cheveldayoff knows Trouba is worth it and sadly most do all the other GMs in the league. A young bonafide top 4 defenseman (with number 1 upside), good size and in his prime that's going to cost a lot. Anywaay I don't understand Minnesotta taking Pulkinnen, their team is overall already to small and other than his shot he doesn't add much to their lineup, maybe Fletsher sees something in him.
-
I don't care much about Frk, Pulkinnen or any other of the overrated prospects but to me it's so obvious that Holland doesn't know what a rebuild is and how to do one the right way. Fine Frk, Pulkinnen and whoever gets waived weren't good enough to make that embarrassing roster. Solution get players who are better not just your usual patchwork type of guys but young players who are better and can help the ******* team right now and in the future. Of course this involves not playing golf the whole summer instead of get of your rich ass and work the phones in order to pull of a trade that finally lands this team a sniper and a top 4 defenseman! Can't pull of a trade? Fine, maybe stop kicking the tires and offer some pieces with real value instead of trying to shovel your own average players onto other GMS, they are smart they won't bite! Can't pull of a trade, can't get top guys to sign here? Fine, go with the young guns stop signing all these garbage veterans and finally get better draft picks. Can't do that either? Move up the latter and make place for someone who will...if only someone named Steve Yzerman would have been available a few ago..thanks for blocking him you moron! If Vanek makes the team over AA and/or Mantha that will be quite telling but of course holland has to justify his signing somehow right? Also Nielsen as a number 1 center *lol* a guy who never had to deal with the other teams top defensive pairing or top players, thanks to being the second fiddle behind superstar JT. Can't believe this is last lineup that will ever play in the JLA...not a good way to install confidence in a fanbase that had to deal with way too much crossroads seasons and first round exits lately. I'm sure Mr. I will be thrilled to announce the price-increases for the Gordie Howe Arena when most of these guys will be back next year.

thank you for all the hardwork Matt. I have trouble finding the more options reply button so far but other than that, seems to work fine and wow this site is fast now.

Seriously this site looks like it's the myspace site of a 12 old to quote Sheldon Cooper. As if the redesign of nhl.com wasn't bad enough now the official site has to follow that mess? I mean I've accepted that the video player became worse with each re-design but now even the normal site is barely readable, as bad as TSN's redesign is nhl.com is much worse. Seriously sooooo much wasted white space, the fonts are way too big and therefore wasting so much useless space. The old one wasn't great but much better than this bulls***. I've completely stopped going to nhl.com now I can't even find the things I'm looking for at the official Wings site great way to start this f****** season, f*** you nhl.com for ruining yet another site. Whoever decided having a "responsbile" (i.e. cheap looking, slow and not well designed), site for mobile and desktop deserves to experiencee that crap live way too destroy webdesign, screw this s***.

Same thing with Netflix for me to get the cool, fresh us movies/series that I really want I have to use my vpn.I'm still amazed how a billion dollar company can f*** up a service, app like the nhl does. Please do the same thing as the rangers and create something like wingsunited as the real official red wings site because what we have right now is a disgrace.

Use a VPN and just fake the location you've paid for the full product so you should get every game.

Rutherford is 67 so by the time his son is an adult he will be in his late 70s

Excellent article written by the Pens GM http://www.theplayerstribune.com/jim-rutherford-what-you-dont-know-about-being-a-gm/ Interesting to read that only 10 % of the job are actually making trades and signing players and the rest clearly shows why having connections is so important as a GM. Also awesome gesture by Sid to hand the cup over to Dailey first.

10/2 Exhibition GDT : Chicago Blackhawks at Red Wings, 6:00 EST
frankgrimes replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Leave me alone with that wanna be statistical stuff please, for the f****** 1000 ***** s*** time I don't care about it!! A defender is there to defend, period. His job is to wait till the other guy comes into his time then take the puck away and then send it to the forward no need to make this stuff more complicated than it needs to be. What that Liles writer describes is a forward not a defender and he does it in a very complicated way..one of the worst articles I've ever read, it's bulls***. If you think my definition is wrong ok but fine problem but next time please link a basic hockey article thank you much. -

Neither of those guys is going to be more than.a third pairing guy if even that, so there is absolutely no need to create so unfunny new names or repeat the anti ericsson saga in every ******* thread! Before the defense takes more risks they should learn how. to their job which means: play defense which also means block shots, hit everything in sight and make it hard to the opponent to get into the crease. Also people are putting way too much stock into this whole pre-season performances..pre-season is a chance for the coaches to see how needs. to be sent back to the AHL, juniors and which guy migh be able to make the team for at least 9 games, nothing more nothing less. People saying XO would be claimed, whats wrong with it? Well good for him if he can't make this "defense" maybe someone else has even worse one and he migh get a better chane there so I would be very happy for him. -
try to find an older version and install that maybe that works? yeah the nhl and mlb unification addiction is horrible. Wish more people would be like Dolan and create their own portal like blueahirtsunited

That's highly unlikely it's going to be a team that needs to find chemistry because they'll be build up of 20 different players that never played together before. Unless they somehow click in a ridiculous short fashion there is no way Vegas (insert name) is going to be a playoff team in the first season. They won't have any superstars or stars because nobody is making them available. They'll be a better Atlanta Trashers version. -

and you can act fanboyish all you want, since you are happy with every move of course you call everyone who sees a flaw in the masters plan a hater.....Although not having a number 1 center, number 1 defenseman and no star (not even talking about superstars) on the team would have most realistic people concerned. The Nielsen contract is too long for what he brings, period. This is a guy who can work great behind a stud center and with a sniper on his line. Do the Wings have that ? No. It's the same BS as the Ericson in Vancouver signing he doesn't help them long-term in fact he is going to hurt their chances Patrick, Liljekren by the time the canucks could be good again, he will be a 6 mill anchor...just like Nielsen will be. Still amazed that Anaheim and Detroit can't seem to workout a deal, ducks are screaming for more offense and wings are screaming for a quality defenseman. Either Holland and Murray really can't stand each other or Anaheim has a lower internal budget than some of us believe p.s.: wanna know what happens to teams that continuously refuse to accept roster flaws..look no further than the Leafs before Shanahan brought in Babcock, Lou and that drafting guru and of course the canucks Boa Horvat , Tanev and then what?...yep. -

Of course he will but it would be unfair to him to expect to play top 4 minutes with 2 bad knees. Nobody knows how his knees will hold up over the long grind of an NHL season. -

is it long yes? Guy will be 36 by then but Nielsen will be 38. It's still funny because Boston needs to rebuild the defense big Z won't tower it forever. -

I don't put much stock into the Worldcup other than Canada there are maybe 2 - 3 teams who take this seriously. Yeah Backes does something nobody on this team seems willing to do, block shots, throw some hits and fight while still being highly skilled! Nielsen is your prototypical pass first, shoot later kind of guy (not that the Wings didn't have already enough of those type of players). Well the Islanders should have been fuming over losing Okposo, who isn't only much younger but also bigger and can do it all, they've lost a lot of good players. I think a player like Nielsen can work well if you have a sniper on your team - the Wings don't (hopefully Mantha can become that). Just to be clear I didn't want anybody of the remaining players after Stamkos reupped with Tampa because I know nobody (Backes, Ladd, Nielsen...) would have fixed the number 1 center position. Okposo would have been nice as would Lucic but their destinations were more than clear. I don't know if he wanted to come here or not but I believe asking and making a competitive shouldn't have been to much to ask for. You may value Backes PIMs as a negative I see them as a positive because it shows the guy cares and does it all. -

Someone has too actually see it in order to believe this stupid s***, the Wings are going into the season with an abyssmal defense. Other than Danny Dekeyser there is nobody that can be trusted in his own end, Green is more focused on playing forward, Kronwall has two knees and nobody knows how they'll hold up...I feel bad for Mrazek and Howard no goaltender would look good behind such af****** defense. Also if Anaheim doesn't want to take back any salary they'll never be able to trade Fowler..oh how nice that Datysuk contract trade would have looked right now plus Wings would have had Chychrun instead of Clowski. If the defense wasn't bad enough if Larkin has a sophomore slump there won't even be a first line center. I can't even remember the last big trade the Wings have made great way to create excitement for the last season at the Joe. At least signing Backes for 5 years would have created some entertainment but no it needed to be Nielsen for 6 freaking years, another pass first shoot later guy. -
Can't find anything, thumbnails are way too big and has nobody told the NHL designers that sidescrolling simplyf****** sucks? Seriously how hard is it to present the videos in a column like format and have tabs for different categories (coach, gm, locker room, presser, end of season interviews, training camp and of course GR). The videos are now an extra patch instead part of the homepage man o man Also all the nice gradient is now gone

Surprise, surprise Holland being Holland. Of course it's all speculation but if the price really was a first and only one of Tatar, Nyquist you gotta imagine that's a price you'd pay every day of the week. Also people saying a 8x8 offer sheet is too much well guess what? That's the point of an offer-sheet it needs to be designed in a way that the other team won't match, so you get the player you want without giving up assets. Would he be overpaid at 8 mill per? You bet but I guess when all is said and done it will look like a bargain because the guy will be that! good in the future, also the cap keeps rising and Mr. I is loaded 8 mill per for him is nothing. -

well people can stop with low ball offers, McKenzie said the asking price is a top 4 LHD which from a wings pov relates to Danny D. plus solid forward. which then would create the problem off whom to pair with Trouba. I think this has the potential to drag out for months. If the rumours are to be believed and Trouba wanted out for months why didn't Kenny try to offer sheet him? if the jets are too cheap to pay their best defender offer sheet him with 8x8 and boom..Danny D. - Trouba without giving up assets damn
