Semin a Red Wing? No way, this guy is lazy and has attitude problems ANd will have a huge KHL offer. I can't understand, how oeople are afraid of overpaying for Suter & Parise? You need to realize, guys like these two usually don't become UFA's. So if we have to overpay for Suter, so be it we need him badly. Parise would be outstanding too, but Suter has to become our top prriority.

Wow Chevaldayoff really blew this one! This guy shouldn't make more than 2.5 million/year. All he has proven is, that he's a diva using the KHL threat. Monster will outplay him badly.
-
Well, if it comes down to that, so be it. Pittsburgh has a great, young team for years to come and all stars are overshadowed by the biggest one. Kenny can't count on discounts or capfriendly signings, we have to *outspend* the Pensylvania teams AND darkhorses like Minnesotta.

If they pull this off, it wouldn't even be fair: Letang - Suter Parise as Crosbys Wing holy damn that team would be set for another decade and easily be the team to beat. Looking at cg the Penguins are having like 14,7 million of cap space and still some guys to become UFAs, damnit this will be an absolute beating war for Suter and Parise.

I think his legacy is set, the 08 cup and 09 cup finals showed, that we are more than just a big spending team able, to find gems in the later rounds. Kenny was the best GM for almost a decade and I will always respect him for that, but having said that this summer will be a big test for him and our organization going forward: 1. Team Has Gone downhill (2 round exist twice and 1 round exit) Are big UFAs still willing to come here seeing, how we are tied between retooling and building? This offseason will answer that. 2. Can he change his philosophy? Its nice we finally added size through the draft, but we do need immediate help come July 1, so he will have to adress that too. I am extremely looking forward to it because some moves will give us a clear picture on that questions. Personally I think Shero is damn close.

I think this is a win win deal for both sides. They are dealing from a position of strengh to fix a position of weakness, liking this trade for both sides. cap friendly re-signing in Philly = kod *rofl* 3 player in only 3 years
-
I love love love love love this pick, finally we are getting someone who will put the fear in the opponents soon enough.
-
Honestly the only guy I see who could replace our Mastermind, is Ray Shero this guy is an impressive GM and pains me to admit that, but rcredit where its due.

Bobby Ryan pissed off being the scapegoat Keep up the good work Murray I am sure, Getzlaf and Perry will want to stay in an organization handling players like that. Kudos to Ryan for speaking out I would be pissed too if I were him and tell Meehan "Either they put this s*** to rest and I'll stay or make them trade me the hell out of here"

Today our future starts, get some steals guys!

We Need to Get Tougher to Play Against

I really like that Bottom 6, if Prust isn't avaiable I'd be happy with Neil too. -
Forsberg at 12 is an absolute still I mean, as a projected top 5 prospect he has to like the slide instead of going to a bottomfeeder, he will play alongside Backstrom, OV and others. I think Tampa took another risky pick here, what is it with Stevie going after heavily injured picks? The guy only played 26 games and from what I've read wasn't impressive. He should have picked Forsberg (replacement for St. Luis). I am indifferent on the Sabres pick though, thinking Grigorenko has KHL written all over him if things are going in a different direction.

Jordan Staal traded to Carolina, signs 10-yr, $60m extension

Say what you will about the Penguins but Shero is a damn impressive GM. His hands were tied in this thing and he still managed to pull off an outstanding return. With one trade he has improved the defense and offense for years to come pains to acknowledge it, but they are going to be a contender for a long time now. On the other hand Rutherford lost that trade, he could have waited one damn year and get him without losing anything *lmao* -
Bowman would get fired immediately by Rocky. Miller is a top 5 goalie but just look at the Sharks how giving up lots of offense for average defense worked for them.

Can't believe people are suggesting tanking, why did this work for Pittsburgh? They've won af****** lottery to pick the best player in the world I am not a hockey scout but even I could and everyone else could have done that. Go to the podium "we are proud to select Sidney Crosby"..... For years we now have been hearing how team X will be on the rise because of all their tanked top picks turning pro, despite Pittsburgh and to a lesser extent Chicago it didn't turn out so well? We are a an original 6 franchise, known and famous for the dedication to win not tanking. If I were an UFA and could choose between 5 million at the Wings and 7 at the Wild I wouldn't even think twice about it. back to topic: With the league taking over and Brodeur closer to retirement after this year I like our chances of landing Parise.

Finally the management gets it its a relief seeing Nil and especially Holland stating, what we as fans have been saying for years now. My ideal bottom 6 forward would be a guy like Bolland. I am glad, we do have cap space signing guys like Scott, Prust, Konopka and maybe Macintyre (doubt Pitts trades with us though), would easily make us one of the toughest teams in the league. Mess with Zetterberg? Good luck next shift against Scott I know its just a dream but think about that off season: skill: Parise and/or Suter: toughness: Konopka, Prust, Scottt and Macintyre 2 big problems fixed in one season now thats a retool! Nil saying that this draft isn't as strong as they hoped means, we can take some risks and draft physical guys who may or may not pan out. -

League takeover of cash-strapped Devils may be inevitable

Good job Fidel Bettman the teams were healthier before the damn cap, because everyone spended what they could afford to. Getting rid of the cap floor and revenue sharing would be a good idea for a healthy league. So with my New Jersey soon to be taken over by the league does this mean the Nordiques are finally back soon? -
Great job Matt it really looks outstanding and should be the benchmark for all hockeyboards. Only suggestion an option to turn off the right sidebar would be nice.

Interesting read, as much as I love such traditions I still think it should be decided by the players.

Exit interview with legendary Red Wing Nicklas Lidstrom
frankgrimes replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
Here you are sitting with a guy worth 7 Norris Trophies, 12 Times All Star, 4 Stanley Cups and a in my mind top 3 All Time defenseman and he wants the Wikipedia page containing at first his work ethic including how he came ready to play every game - you can't get more humble than that. I gonna miss this player so much, just pure class...a perfect human. Will have a hard time not chocking when they raise his number. I want to do something special with my Lidström jersey any ideas? Thought about buying a glossy red-white border and a nice swedish flag as a background? -

Is the Stanley Cup really the hardest trophy in all of pro sport?
frankgrimes replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
I'd say so yes, its a long long grind and you have to be in absolutely tremendous shape and lucky to not have your key keys injured for a long stretch. -
I think its funny how people always claim we bought the cup that year? What about other Original 6 teams Rangers with payrolls north of 75 million and also a stacked roster. Was this team expensive? Yes but they did reward us with some outstanding performances and the cup. I want to see teams like that again but it wont happen under Bettman thats for sure.

Even if Nashville trades his rights, doesn't change a thing for us. In the end it will come down to one important decision does Suter want to be a RedWing or not, if so he will be :-) Let Philly, The Rangers or whichever team trade for his rights and then sign him july 1!
