Well I can because last year wasn't what I consider hockey. I mean when 1 minute highlights from almost 20, 30 years ago are more entertaining than the whole game today something is wrong. And I'm not saying that because the Wings where bad it's an overall assumption.Weber just turned 30 and people will soon see that not only is he one of the best defenders in the game in terms of overall package what he brings to the table is unmatched...age aside there's nobody I'd rather have in the blue line

I guess you are refering to puck movement, well puck movement is 1 style but it's not the only style and thanks god it isn't because it's such a boring to watch style. There are all sorts of styles puck movements, heavy hitting, playing physical, defense first and what not so I wouldn't say "modern hockey is all about this or that". And if the last year is an indication of modern hockey, I'd gladly say no thanks because it was boring as hell. And this is the beauty of a player like Weber, he is an absolute horse who can play every style you want. I think Chara light would be a good comparison.
-
I don't need to I know what Weber can and brings to the table. Leadership bar none (hence him winning the Messier award), physicality, offense, defense and a shot straight out of a laser canon. Oh and btw. the guy had 20 goals. Yeah he wasn't that good in the playoffs but if this years playoffs are a standard for anything even mr. perfect Duncan Keith would be on the "decline"
-
Thankfully all you guys and even the Habsfans who think Weber is past his prime will have the ability to watch him. As a Wingsfan that's just scary.
-
How about doing nothing other than bring in some entertainment i.e. Martin, Brouwer (maybe) Bourdelaus and try to get Liljegren next year. He won't be a free agent all you need to do is finish bottom 5
-
Those saying that Weber is declining will have the pleasure of watching his "decline" against the Wings next season in front of Price. Hardly something I'm going to look forward to

Yes, he is otherwise Boston would have re-signed him long ago -
Burns is a great player but when Crosby is on there is nobody outthere who can stop him it's just the truth. Weber infront of Price are you freaking kidding me? Good luck scoring goals against the Habs now

Honestly I'd say f*** it throw the bank at Looch now. -
Wonder if Roman Josi could be available
-
His style? Weber can play any way you want: physical, offense, defense, gritty, mean SOB it doesn't matter and nobody runs the PP like he does.
-
Who's better? Doughty (if continues to be amazing for sure), Suter (in terms of total package I don't think so), Pietrangelo (not there yet), OEL? (tough call)
-
They got SHEA WEBER I'd move heaven and earth to get this defenseman.

The Captain is continuing what he does best, winning in all sorts of life. Boy oh boy Stevie hopefully it's a sign and trade

There has to be more to it than Hall for Larsson that would be insane robbery by Shero. I'll wait till McKenzie, Dreger or Lebrun are confirming the whole deal -

WTF Chiarelli Hall should net you at least ! Shattenkirk. Hall is a top 5 winger in the game Seguin trade 2.0 lol -
Other than Stamkos, which FA forward do you want?
frankgrimes replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
Looch without question. The guy is a beast and will protect his players, if someone decides to take a run at Larkin the thought of answering to Lucic might make him think twice about doing it. So for me it's: Looch > Backes > Ladd Lesser players: Martin > Brouwer -

At this rate Meehan will need a few extra secretaries just to handle all the phone calls. Friday will be awesome for stammer contracts with a lot of 0s under his table. Guy will put the Toews and Kane aav to shame that's for sure. If I am him it starts with 12 x 7, nmc since every team will happily offer that the future outlook of each team could be a very important factor which isn't good for the Wings cause Buffalo and even Toronto are obviously ahead with their rebuild -

Guy would have easily gotten more on the open market...that's such a bargain for Jones. On top of that he has to play for Tortarella... -

Shaw just like that rat Gallagher is pound for pound one of the most annoying SOBS in the league. Happy for him he finally gets paid can't believe the Hawks wouldn't pay him at such a discount. -
Lindros, Makarov, Vachon, Quinn going to the Hall

watching Lindros, Stevens is just awesome two big boys playing hockey the way it should be played. Stevens may as well be the best open ice hitter ever -

Yeah it's 20 % so if the NHLPA uses their own money to pay up, the maximum aav would be 14,6 million aav. So at some point the money is going to be equal I'm fully expecting Buffalo to not bow out before that with Toronto I'm not so sure., My "personal" max would be whatever he is worth to the franchise. I.e. go max and load it up with bonuses for him and family -

Not true his contract is estimated to be around 60 million, Buffalo would have matched but his wife wanted to live in Toronto. I think it's time for people to accept that as long as Buffalo has Pegula as their owner, they are going to be in on every big coach, free agent. I really hope Mr. I is seeing this is a challenge, so if Buffalo goes 12 million, the Wings should go 13..if Buffalo/Toronto match go 14 and so on.
