Happy for Lindros and Quinn waited long enough to finally get in. Don't know how Vachon is but congratulations to him and Marakov too. -

I would love Shattenkrik asd much as everyone in a Winged jersey but the truth is this: The guy will be an UFA after this year, so unlike he agrees to sign an extension with the Wings my offer for sure wouldn't include Larkin or Mantha. In my mind St. Louis would be dumb to trade him, Pietrangelo and him are the backbone of their defense and with Schwarz, Tarasenko plus Backes (if he returns), their top 6 should be set for years to come. No, to Justin Schulz he doesn't help our top 4 situation at all. Keep in mind he won't have Crosby, Kessel or Letang running the PP here so trusting hm to be the guy seems like a lot (i.e. his play in Edmonton). I know people will hate me for that but I'm glad, Yandle signed an extension not that he isn't a good defender but I think he wouldn't have helped the Wings at all because this team needs a steady defenseman who can also provide some offense at the right time. Hamonic would have been awesome but he wants to play in western Canada. If the rumors are true and Winnipeg doesn't want to pay Trouba then Holland has to be all over this, Michigan kid who's limit is the sky. Larkin, Trouba, Mantha, Danny D., (if we see the first half goaltending) even Mrazek would be a solid core to build for the future. btw. I still don't understand the downplaying of Goose, everyone knew what he was but since he signed his extension a lot of people started to expect too much out of him. There is nothing wrong with being a solid top 6 sniper, yeah he needs to bulk up (go train with Gary R. or Dwayne Johnson) but let me tell you this: if the Wings had someone with size who can create room for him or Tatar, they would score more or at least be more dangerous. So why I'm happy with the development of both guys I would easily trade of them because they are the Wings best bet to land something this team needs while not giving up the future, of course it needs to be a package. For a signed Shatty: Goose/Tatar + one of AA/Svech or every defenseman not named Danny D. + 2nd 2017 -
Datsyuk Announcement to Officially Leave NHL

Why does it matter? Pasha gets to play where his heart is, in his hometowm country in front of all his friends, family while enjoying the last 2 years of his glorious career. I'm for one just happy for him and will for sure try to find some Russian league (super league KHL?) games with him. -
Give me Matt Martin and Luke Schenn 2 guys who will hit everything that moves all the time both shouldn't cost much.

I'm not trying to create anything. Fact is, Chychrun was the consensus number 1 defenseman before having his shoulder surgery and by his standards a below average season. Detroit needed a defenseman he was there at 16 so it made too much sense. We might never know how high he was on the Wings list but I doubt that Cholowski kid has been above him, maybe I'm wrong. I mean, if the Wings don't get Stamkos there are still 2 massive holes. Like I said I'd rather trade AA or Svech. The good thing is, we won't know untill next year at the earliest how good Chychrun can become because I don't think Chaika is going to rush him. Nope, Wings are right there with Tampa, Chicago when it comes down to forwards. Defense it's Nashville by far Goaltending I guess the caps

It would just make too much sense all things considered. He gets to play with a team which will soon be a force in the league, an owner who is loaded, without the pressure of being the guy ( that's Eichel) and no media scrutiny at all. It's sad for us but it seems like a nobrainer. -

The difference is this time I've come to the realisation that this team isn't the go to UFA destination it used to be. So unlike the Suter/Parise situation my hopes aren't high. The reality is Stamkos will have teams with more proven! young players and a bright future begging for his services.I also think people will be surprised when Meehan and Stammer will take their team and not announce anything for a few days, which of course will result in Ladd , Backes, Looch and Okposo having to wait. But if anyone believes either one of these guys could fill the number 1 center they are in for a huge surprise. And all that wonderful cap space in exchange for Chychrun won't mean a damn thing. Not that they are bad players especially Looch and Backes would provide entertainment but neither is a number 1 center or defenceman! -

Exactly that's why paying a premium (Chychrun), instead of one of AA or Svech (a position of strange), could turn out to be a huge mistake. I think the most important thing is obviously money and every team that wants a realistic chance at him will have to go 11 plus. I think from all the teams competing for his services Buffalo is offering the biggest chance to become a juggernaut in the future, Eichel, RoR and Ristolainen are already there.. Toronto has some pieces falling in place and the best coach in hockey but they also have tremendous pressure and media scrutiny. The Wings can offer a guaranteed number 1 center spot and the ability to become the next captain...So the sales job from Holland and company needs to be a huge one. With that being said maybe there is one team nobody thinks of that will ****** him. -
Well Arizona would have been with Svech or whatever his name is or AA too...both positions than wings are better at than at defense. This trades evaluation will depend on 2 things;1. Can the Wings convince Stamkos to come here? Yes, the cap space is there but others can offer equal money and th ability to play with Eichel. This reminds me too much of the Suter Parise situation. Although I think Toronto would be the wrong choice for him. 2. Chychrun's development. A physical beast being compared to Scott Stevens falls into the Wings lap and they trade him. Did it ever occur to people that that is a reason, why the Coyotes where so eager to get this guy? The kid the Wings drafted is yet again undersized (wouldn't be a problem if this was a heavy team but it isn't), and known for questionable defensive abilities .. So I just hope Hakan saw something in him..because frankly most experts didn't. A lot of people seem to think Stammer is a given which is far from the truth and if not him, then what? There is no other number 1 center available. Cap space is great if a team can use to get the best possible player otherwise use less. Back in the days I would've said oh great no bring in Stammer...but after getting passed over by Suter, Parise, Niskanen and with an unknown future Stammer to Detroit is far from a given...and I shudder at the thought of signing Eriksson, Vanek or anyone of that "caliber"

If what Dreger is true it's more like1. Buffalo willing to go 12 aav 2. Toronto 3. Tampa Bay but the captain needs to up his offer 4. Wings and everyone else who is interested But hey gotta pass on a much needed gift in order to draft another undersized pick no one ever heard of. -
You'll see what I mean as soon as Chychrun starts crushing people and be the new top pairing guy alongside OEL.
-
Ya sure by giving up a gift instead of eating the damn contract for 1 year and the beast known as Chychrun. If they fail to Stamkos he needs to be fired guy has lost it
-
f*** you Holland
-
If they f*** this gift up Holland needs to be fired
-
oh god 2 picks and Chychrun still available
-
Thats a problem with hockey in general, especially in Europe teams have too many foreigners and often not a good enough league.God I hope the Wings aren't scrweongu this up and accept the gift that is Chychrun. Kid will be a more skilled version of Gudbranson.

I find it funny how every year people are falling for the same media games. What is MB supposed to say other than he isn't shopping Subban but he would be dumb not to listen at offers if Edmonton offers Hall, Nurse and their 4 pick you gotta listen. The only real story line is where does stammer sign other than that ..Even the top 3 in the draft are set. -

Loooch brings entertainment and can act as a bodyguard for some players. If the term is right I wouldn't be against it although he doesn't fix the huge need for a number 1 center and defenseman so yeah. -

Well at least it's more realistic than keep saying, if X and X steps up this team will finish top 3 or anything like that. -

Simple: Detroit needs a defenseman and baring some magical run at the draft and free agency such a finish is not too far fetched, so in some way yes, it's a subtle way of saying that I think there is a chance this team could finish in the bottom 5. -

For me it's only 3 players Danny D., Larkin and Mantha those are the guys you can build around. Everyone else should be available for the right price. -
