Ownership shows Support for Kenny Holland

Disagreed when your captain, some other veterans are coming out stating that there will be and need to be changes, something has to give. The Bob Hartley firing should show everyone his quickly support can turn into you are fired. Cap can't be an excuse the Hawks, Stars, Bolts and others are working under the same thing and are still getting better. So it's put up or shut up time this off-season and it starts with doing trying everything possible to get into the top 10 draft range.

Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams

Um yes, he can he did so 2 times and will do it for a third time if he doesn't like his icetime or the way the team is dealing with him. Kovalchuck was under contract too and then decided it's time to go home to make even more money.

WCSF : St. Louis Blues vs. Dallas Stars

Their defense and goaltending just can't compete and that's why most people didn't have them as favorites to win the cup, this year. Upfront the stars are a well oiled machine but their backend and goaltending is really letting them down in key moments.

Just put the flowerpower woodstock 4 ever .... on ignore it's not worth the time arguing or even acknowleding them :-) I thought the joke was hilarious and laughed out loud, so keep em coming. Anyhow not even a peition signed by 20 million people would change the name now, it's set in stone now it sucks and it doesn't honor the rich tradition of this franchise and it's players. The non lightning effect to me is even worse because this thing would have been the first arena worldwide which had something like that. An arena with no history but tons of bill-board ideas great times.

    Fixing this mess....

That's exactly the problem the Oilers would be stupid beyond believe to not take this guy because I think Matthews, Laine and Puljujarvi will be gone at 4.

    Calder finalists

McDavid would have won it if he would have been healthy hands down, kid is a phenom no question about it. But Gostisbehere over Jack Eichel? That's something I don't understand, Eichel put up like 60 points he doesn't have a superstar like Hall, Kane on his wing or on the PP the guy is in his first year and has already been the best Buffalo Sabres, so what more did they expect out of him? No Eichel to me is an absolute joke I would have loved seeing Larkin there but let's be honest he fell a bit of a cliff (no big deal mind you), in the second half. As far as Panarin I hate to defend another Blackhawk, but the rules are that he is eligible (I don't like it) but it is what it is and so he has to be favorite to win it. Personally I think if a guy has a few season in some of the top leagues (SEL; KHL, NLA first Finish League) under his belly he shouldn't be in the calder conversation but oh well.

Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams

Yeah i don't get it too he made a huge amount of money in the KHL he isn't going to accept short term contracts and his cap will have to start with a 6.and if Radulov doesn't like his role or the offer he'll just go back to the KHL.

Maple Leafs win 2016 draft lottery

I know it's a very subjective thing but I think after all the guy has accomplished he is the best but it's also fine if people think some other great coaches deserve some recognition too. Babs also seems to have a huge network of people around the NHL and isn't afraid to try other methods (see olympics ballhockey). The Leafs goal last year was to rebuild and starting from zero and the first thing to do at that stage is to establish a culture which takes time and then go from there. Till they lost JVR Babs had the Leafs playing well over their capabilities just like he did with the Wings in the last few years. But you are right, Q, Trotz, Tippet, Sutter, McLellan all great coaches ...I would love to see what Tippet can do with a blank check, same goes for Maloney. For sure a lot of things need to fall in place for the Leafs there is no way other teams won't be aware of their young guns starting next seasonand let's see how guys like Nylander are going to handle that. What that first overall pick does for them, is giving the team option they'll either trade him for a ridiculous return or draft a guy with number 1 center potential it'sa win-win. Although - as usual - Leafs fans need to temper their expectations, some already believe Matthews will be better than Eichel which is a joke and he for sure won't be as good as McJesus. Howard to Toronto does make 0 sense for them, the Leafs won't commit almost 10 mill in salary to Bernier and Howard, not gonna happen under Lou Lamoriello. I also agree with you, Blashill had a solid rookie year as a coach I'm sure he'll learn and adapt some things but overall I'm happy with him. In order for Toronto to become a very good team, they need to nail their draft picks and continue developing them slowly by not giving a crap about the crazy expectations Toronto fans have about their newest toy. None of their kids other than Reilly of course so far has had to deal with the 82 games grind that is the NHL regular season so let's first see how that goes and what they are able to do over the summer but if they get Stamkos and Matthews in the off-season their team will for sure be better, not playoff bound of anything but better. Do I think they will win a Stanley Cup under Babs? Tough to say because so much can in a hurry but I think the potential for a very good leafs team - like you've said - is there. This is also good for the Wings because there is no way this can be the usual "kicking the tires" summer when it comes to the draft and July 1. Some are already mentioning they'd only trade him for McJesus...talk about realistic expectations *lol*

Maple Leafs win 2016 draft lottery

While I agree that Reilly could be a number 1 one day I think Edmonton has the complete package in Darnell Nurse. Big mean, skilled beyond believe and stands up for his teammates Reilly is not that type of player far from it. Toronto has a lot of things going for them right now: Best coach in all of hockey - check A GM who has seen and knows it all - check First overall pick and therefore a lot of options - check I don't think they'll be a playoff team next year but in 3 years who knows? Babs has proven he can get blood from a stone over and over again, wouldn't surprise me if he could do the same in Toronto. That being said I don't think they'll be as good as Edmonton or Buffalo down the road but a challenger? For sure if the stars align.

Ownership shows Support for Kenny Holland

I don't want him fired I'd like him to become president of hockey operations like Shanahan, Burke, Linden and I think even Sakic has that title. There is no way in hell that Chris is happy with a less is more explanation, he doesn't strike me as a fan first, business second type of guy but I do think (and hope), that he has some expectations on whats needs to happen here but if the unthinkable is true and Kenny is asked to keep the streak alive at all costs then the blame needs to go somewhere else but I refuse to believe that Chris would be the exact opposite of his dad because of he is the Wings trouble might have just started.

would have absolutely zero problems with it since almost everyone calls him Babs anyways. Well to be completely honest I fully expected the word to be filtered, anyhow you've made your point I've made mine I got my warning time to move on. I'll just say this: expecting people to know which words should and shouldn't be filtered is like asking whats on page 120 of the phonebook.

    Fixing this mess....

Look I wanted Suter and Parise as much as everyone but the fact is they decided to sign elsewhere for hometowm reasons. Yeah Suter is from Wisconsin but his career took of in Minnesotta and his wife is from Minnesotta, same with Parise. I just hope the Wings are staying away from signing Vanek if the Wild decide to buy him out. The problem wasn't so much that Parise and Suter went to another place it was - and still is -t he fact that this front office had no blan B, C ready it was Suter or bust. Now the way to starting fixing this mess is trading into the top 10 and get that young stud, known as Jacob Chychrun. But knowing our luck the Oilers will trade the pick for Hamonic and then take Chchyrun at 8...which gives them Nurse, chchyrun and Hamonic booom defense fixed.

I'll just call it either the new Wings arena, LCA or The Oven. I think what really upsets people is the whole swagger in the presser, they almost brushed the question about the LEDs of feeling like "how dare you are asking us about this". Also the guy announcing the logo has nothing to do with the Wings and Wilson is an NBA guy. That presser was a dagger in the heart for every Wings fan. Yeah it's the biggest logo in the world or whatever but it still sucks and if the LEDs were just a render why show that at all? Just to tease something that was never going to be released? This building could have been something very very special but now it will just be like all the other super expensive arenas, a giant billboard without a soul! And pizza, beer prices that will even put the Toronto arena to shame.

Yeah I think it was to make the arena look badass wIthout ever having any real intentions of doing it. The most disappointing thing is, neither Chris nor Wilson gave an honest expectation on why just "it was a render", this thing looked so damn cool, everyone was buzzing about the LED module. The possibilities would have been endless, from displaying the Wings roster to Kid Rock CD covers...Heck they could have used this stuff for the grand opening to really show of what this franchise is all about.fans of other teams would have been sooo envy but no all we get is a business first presser and not one word about the Wings! if this whole thing is just a giant bill board the Wings would be better of staying in the old, proven joe Louis of course with a few renovations

I think there should be some sort of middle ground, have pictures of the great players rotating, the Wings logo on top of the roof while the Wings are playing but show the LC logo whenever they aren't.after watching that presser over and over I'm still pissed by the reaction Wilson gave after being asked about the lights: smug phase it was just a render almost laughed it of...wish the hiring of that moron was just a render. Also Chris spent most of his time talking about companies, brands and expansion of his dad's business not one word about this awesome franchise. The whole presser felt sooo unwings like, it's sooo scary to think that one day this guy might run the Wings

Well fans can be pissed about a decision and still respect the owner right? I don't know much about the Rooney family but I agree with you on Kraft, seems like a great owner who is willing to go the full distance for his players. Sadly I think Mr. I has shifted his focus from the Wings to some of his other teams it may be just a feeling but yeah. Chris to me is still hard to judge he comes away with an extreme business first/fan later approach. For me it's not just the name "LCA" but the fact that they are going from a deserving one (Joe Louis), to a corporate sponsored one and yes I get it it's about the bottom line and whatever but I don't have to like it. An Original 6 franchise should be proud to show off tradition and shove it upon everyone daring to enter the building so to speak. Remember how awesome that place looked at first? That whole arena had red lights and the Winged Wheel on top of the roof holly crap I was like "yeah, that's Wingsstyle" but now it will just be another bland arena without a rich history like the JLA. While saying that I'm still very sure the inside will be top notch in all possible ways but all that doesn't create an intimidating atmosphere, noise generated by the fans does.

Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams

I know Loooch is just a dream and it won't happen because he seems to be very set on staying in LA although they need defense not forwards. I think he would hurt our prospects because the guy isn't known for working hard and showing other players how to get stuff done, on and off the ice. It's not like he's the first one on the ice/gym. Trust me I fully understand why someone would prefer to make money at home and play infront of his friends, family because the NHL has too many strict rules "negotiated". I don't think Radulov is better than Okposo, Backes at best he's equal to them and btw. I think Backes is even more of a stretch than Looch he would be crazy to leave an annual playoff contender with cup expectations.

Maple Leafs win 2016 draft lottery

I'm happy for their loyal fans, Babs and Lamoriello. Giving the best coach in all of hockey a franchise center is going to do wonders for his development but this also does give them options to acquire Oliver Ekman Larson if Arizona gets desperate about moving down. It's funny how identical the press conferences from Holland Brian Burke are sometimes, both absolutely seem to think that rebuild is a bad word and can't be done because of this and that and of course the fans would never accept it. In comes Shanahan with a plan, hires the right people and all of a sudden a last place finish isn't too bad and rewarded with the 1 or at least 4 overall pick. Watching a young team grow and play hard to me would be more exciting than seeing deserving guys like Mantha demoted and robbed their chance to learn playoff hockey from one of the best (Pasha), because veterans are needed to keep the streak alive... Toronto now has 2 boxes out of 3 mostly checked: - #1 center check - Auston Matthews - #1 defenseman (probably) check with Morgan Rielly - #1 goaltender: missing if they add that man oh man Not to mention the possibility of bringing Stammer home and they still have JVR, Nylander (overrated but still a good yet undersized player) as Wingers. Will they be a playoff team next year? No way but if they continue to improve and get another top pick next year they'll be well on their way as is Buffalo. Watching the boxscores doesn't teell the whole story watch the highlights of this kid and you'll see how special that guy really is. McDavid isn't just your typical first overall pick there is a reason why this guy gets called McJesus he is already that good! People may laugh at the Oilers now but they have the fourth overall pick and if they draft Chychrun their defensive problems are fixed! Chychrun - Nurse two absolute monsters on the backend, Talbot as a #1 goalie and McJesus to lead the forwards..yep I'd trade the current Wings roster in a heartbeat for that. They do matter a lot because TOP guys aren't usually making it to UFA anymore and no sane GM trades them, so the only way to get those players is well...drafting and developing.

Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams

Nashville (Poile) drafted him, Radulov at some point decided he wants go home and play in the KHL because he wasn't happy. Then he came back in 2012 supported by the captain, Shea Weber just to be a huge distraction and disappointment again. That's not the guy I'd want to show Larkin, Mantha and AA the way, nope. Crazy to think that Looch is a nogo but that moron Radulov is acceptable, lol. Guys like him are rolemodels for the Russian factor.

Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams

Did it ever occur to people that he might use the I'm going to the NHL stuff to get more money from his current KHL team? If the Wings sign him lol that would clearly mean Holland has lost it. Teammates and his current GM are not the guys to ask ... Poile, Weber, Fisher, Trotz, Grimreaper and Josi are the guys to ask because they'll provide an honest opinion.

It's not so much the name itself it's the whole idea of one of the last traditional named arenas standing up against that sponsored arena crap. It's especially bad when a team has so many deserving personalities including the owner. Yeah will just call it the LCA but something like come to the Yzerman, Lidstrom, Howe whatever... Dome see the Wings play would have felt so much better. Let's wait how the Oilers are going to name their new (fully tax payer) bland, plastic arena.
  24. frankgrimes

Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams

Exactly he is not a guy known for being a hardworker or someone who will show young players the right way. Sure, the Avs have Sakic as the GM but Radulov will be Radulov and that's why I want it to happen. He will be a distraction to their team and their defense would remain average at best.
