Wouldn't surprise me at all the guy is ultra competitive and not being able to stay healthy or deke around like only he can must be extremely tough for him. I remember Nick delaying his retirement because the retirement of Rafalski and the loss of Stuart caught Holland off guard. I mean, everyone could see it in his eyes after the Nashville game...Nick looked done and incredible frustrated Seeing the game slowly walking away from you must be such a hard reality for these guys and I'm sure it sucks. Even if Pasha is playing his last year it will be one sad day after he heads back to Russia..time is ticking and it's ticking fast

From what I've read only 2 defenders are considered 'can't miss' Juolevi and Chychrun. So while I agree with you it's damn hard to trade into the top 10 without giving up Mantha, Larkin or Danny D. Would love it if one of Goose , Tatar plus the Wings first round pick would get the job done but that's not the case. Missing the playoffs would have increased the likelihood of getting into the top 10. But yeah I think no matter what the Wings have to swing for one of the 2 defenders because I highly doubt Laine and Puljujarvi are going to fall.

Kadri 4 game suspension for cross checking Glendening
frankgrimes replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
It's called trade bait Leafs are going to pump his tires and then trade this disgrace of a hockey player for a Polak like return. -
Huge fan of Yandle but he is not what this team needs right now. He is another younger version of Green. The Wings need someone who doesn't sacrifice defense for more offense. That's why I've said missing the playoffs (needed wake-up call for the upper management) and drafting Chychrun, Juolevi would have been the right idea. I think people will be surprised with Yandle's price point. Schenn would be nice hut he sadly isn't a top pairing guy anymore but he brings a lot of qualities: hits like a machine, blocks shots and not afraid to mix it up Trading for another soft Euro, namely Yakupov on the forward position does nothing for this team. Tatar, Goose and Larkin need someone with size who can create space for them. But the fix has to start from the backend

Howard (when on his game) is a very solid starter and it's nice to see more and more people finally admitting that. Yes, Mrazek was better in the first half of the sason but second half it's easily Howard and he should be the starter going forward.

The thing is Pasha doesn't have to do the media stuff they could just hire a translator. Pasha leads by example and the guy is ultra competitive that's why I believe he would have been the better choice. I'm not saying Z is a bad captain but maybe after the captain and Lidas the expectations on what to expect from a captain were set too high? He doesn't have to return just make sure that his oldest son finally gets drafted by the Wings. Danny D. - Lidstrom think about that for years to come!

Pasha can do whatever he wants, this guy has given the Wings and also the NHL so much joy with his dekes and just mindblowing moves. For me it doesn't matter what this guy decides his legacy has already been written and it's a great one, the guy is still by far the best player on this team.

at first I was hoping for this to be a late April fools joke but sadly it's not. I don't care what this means in terms of hockey the only thing that p. is him getting healthy, everything else is secondary. Guy is a joy to watch and has an unparalleled work ethic all the best Stammer.

Who will finish as the leading scorer for the Red Wings 2015/2016?
frankgrimes replied to kickazz's topic in General
I think Pasha is the only one who has a realistic chance at 3 points in 5 games...not an easy task but if someone can pull it of it's gotta be him. -
Then someone else will. it doesn't matter who the GM is someone has to fix it. If I'm the owner I'd be looking hard at Ray Shero this off season.
-
Babcock was a hard ass coach too and look at his success everywhere. Being a hardass doesn't mean you have to be a rude or over the top coach like Tortarella...it just means demanding work ethic and a pro mentality no matter what.Blashill will learn to be like that but it takes time and it would be unfair to expect that out of him in his first year. Also I'm starting to think Pasha would have been the better role model as a captain. Z is too quickly putting bad games behind him.

GDT 3/29 GDT - Red Wings at Canadiens - 7:30 PM EST

Wow glad I 've decided to not watch the third period and start my day on a slower pace. seems like I haven't missed much. Losing against the dumpster fire that is Montreal even without their best defender and best player period is just lol. Hopefully this outcome also settled the goaltending for the rest of the season, it's Howard's net to lose. people may not like to hear it but I honestly believe missing the playoffs would be the best thing for the future. There is no way Holland would get away with kicking the tires again, Mr. I or Chris it whoever is running the team now would demand changes and building towards a Stanley cup contender again. Does this mean missing the playoffs for a few years? Sure but so what I'd rather watch a young, entertaining team with a clear identity than a bunch of small soft players trying to hang on each and every year. If the Wings miss I'm sure Holland will mention parity at least 3 times in the first 30 seconds in his off season presser The funny thing is Bruins fans would rather see a real rebuild instead of the playoffs too..lol fun times ahead. I don't think this team is going to win against the Wild, who are playing some desperate playoff hockey. -
Don't want MacLean back. According to the Senators players he changed for the worse after winning the Jack Adams.

3/28 GDT : BUFFALO SABRES AT DETROIT RED WINGS, 7:30 PM ET
frankgrimes replied to WingedWheel91's topic in General
this game also features the future of team US in Eichel, Larkin and Danny D. Play hard for Mr. Hockey if they aren't motivated by him being in the crowd nothing will motivate them and trades need to happen in the off season -
Malkin is a superstar and if they trade him it's going to be for a 1 defenseman something the Wings don't have. Wings would have to start with Larkin, Mantha and still go heavy from there just to get the conversation even started.Malkin is at least 1 level above all if the mentioned players, also where is the source for claiming Malkin is available ?
-
Malkin for Nyquist, Smith gets Holland blacklisted in the Pens office that's such an insulting offer wow. Adding guys like Jurco makes it even worse nobody is dumb enough to accept quantity for high quality if the Pens are trading Malkin it would be for a guy like Shea Weber or someone of that calibre. Also Malkin doesn't do anything to fix the defense the Wings can't outscore their problems ... teams are built from the backend not vise versa.
-
oh ok thank you well the good thing is if they miss there is going to be some serous house cleaning and hardly anyone of the staff should be save which includes the GM.
-
Say what you will about Carlyle but I think he knows how to run the defense If Granato is leaving the team right now, something must be wrong behind the scenes. And as far as I know he isn't responsible for the defense that's Ferschweiler
-
To me it's very simple, if you need others to lose you don't deserve the playoffs anyways. This team looks like it has their off-season vacations and tee-times already planned. Even last year the odds were a bit better but whatever, only 6 games to go.
-
Blashill can only work with the pieces he has. It's the job of a GM to give the coach good pieces.I feel bad for him rookie coach who was tasked to coach a team into the playoffs , that's been a shadow of its former self for some time now. Even Babs barely got them in. But one thing is obvious Blashill needs to rip his players a new one and get better assistants next year.

3/26 GDT : Pittsburgh Penguins at Detroit Red Wings, 2:00 PM ET
frankgrimes replied to NerveDamage's topic in General
With the way the Penguins are playing right now, especially Crosby and Fleury I think the wings should be happy to get 1 point out of this game -
One: the I'm always forgetting that damn Two: Since when is the signing bonus capped? Three: Trouba isn't even in his prime yet and offense isn't something a defender should be based on. Sure it's an nice asset but the first job is to clear the zone. Four: Perfectly right keyword being right now who knows maybe he is going to be worth it in 2 years? Guy has so much potential Five: Might be but given that the Wings can't find defensive gems maybe it's the best chance of landing another top pairing guy? Six: Sell of some veterans problem solved Seven: If done right they can be another tool to acquire help

King Henrik had an unreal rookie season, Mrazek sucked since coming back from the injury. Yet he is getting more starts than Howard who has played better
-
Chipman seems to be running the jets like a small market team so I doubt they'll buy out Enstrom. I mean, that team didn't even want to pay to captain so I'll doubt they are willing to pay a potential future Norris winner in trouba. An offer sheet at around 8 x 8 with 20 mill signing bonus should be enough to get this guy too bad Holland doesn't do offer sheets
-
Defense isn't based on offense. On a team that's loaded with defense yes but as far as the Wings are concerned he is the best. the going rate for a number 2 defenseman is around 6 mill so it would make sense.
